Almost every thing is radioactive to some extent. Radiation is anything emitted by particle.

Radiation comes in 4 MAIN forms. They are, in short-

electrons, protons, light, neurons. And they are all very different - if you want to know more look it up.

But in short - using a cellphone on average will cause cancer just as much as eating 2 bananas a day.

I never knew brain cancer was such a funny topic. Oh ho-ho, my child has brain cancer, yes how amusing. To answer the 'dont know' question, the manufactured controversy is about whether or not non-thermal (not heating) amounts of microwave radiation can harm living tissue. The short answer is yes, most definitely, there are thousands of studies showing it. The controversy? There are all kinds of indirect effects of cell phones that people don't come to think about. Mobile communication changes culture and social patterns, and certainly the concepts of work and leisure time. These are non-organic effects and therefore more difficult to observe. Here in Finland the cell phone is necessary for daily survival and has changed society into a much busier place. Many people even take medication because they can't handle the pressure of being on an electronic leash 24/7.

Not very funny and not at all educational. Cell phones emit low energy photons that do not have enough energy to cause damage. Cancer is caused by high energy photons, such as X-rays, UV radiation and gamma rays - photons that have enough energy to disrupt molecules. Regarding to the disappearing antennas in modern cell phones, manufacturers might be doing what Apple did with the latest iPhone, which is wrap the antenna around the edge of the phone (this is also why it had the infamous signal-loss problem; touching both sides temporarily short circuited the antenna and made it much worse at receiving RF signals).

@PhioenixPinion I'm pretty sure headphones don't project any sort of radiation. Electricity flowing into the headphones tells a woofer in a small speaker to vibrate, which causes sound. Normal headphones shouldn't cause cancer, but I'm not sure about wireless headphones.

@PantsThatDontFit - I think what you are trying to explain is that cell phones have the ability to mutate waste products trapped in the brain by entering the BBB blood brain barrier, thereby promoting tumor growth. Cell phones are effective at doing this due to disruption of intracellular communication. Off course brain tumors don't develop immediately, however extended use = extended risk. There are thousands of peer reviewed papers which show deleterious effects if one researches :-)

I am suffering a weird headache from wearing a bluetooth headset for last three years, started getting bizarre pulsation on left side of my brain in one area! a friend suggested that it could be my bluetooth, which I rapidly threw out, These units are constantly transmitting radio energy even when not on active call! Cell phones can cause heating of the head, but only by a couple of degrees at most, after hours of use at a time.
