  • Love how the drummer steals the Opethian 6/4 clave at segments, much like Be'lakor's drummer does as well.. Lopez seems to be rubbing of on allot of young drummers. Can only help :P

  • this is really nothing like Opeth.....this is like In Mourning....

appreciate a band for what it is you fucks!

  • Yeah it sounds a little like Opeth, at least to me. Specially the singer's voice (not the clean vocals ) hehe but it's awesome. Opeth is my nº 1 band and it's cool to see a little bit of them in this band.

    Cheers everyone.

  • I fail to see the Opeth comparison at all. The songwriting is of two different styles. In Mourning use 3 guitars, one to achieve a bottom, and a harmonized middle and top. Their melodies revolve around these harmonies. Opeth uses a more traditional guitar style, along with their dynamic changes between loud and soft, which these guys also do not do as prevalantly.

  • @myhigherpie2 Listen to Opeth's early albums. I think when the chuggier/more singular parts come in, it reminds me of Deliverance-era Opeth- BUT, the guitar harmony parts are oddly similar to Opeth's mid-90's output. Opeth was all about harmony and counterpoint back then. Also, if you ever listen to Edge of Sanity's Crimson, you might hear similarities there, too. Because there's three guitars recorded in spots. A middle, a left, and a right. All playing different things at times.

  • If you like this, go listen to Grind Denial by them, its delicious.

  • WHY IS IT SO FUCKING GOOD? OMG

  • the slow intro is great and id prefer the song to be kept slow

  • already heared this somewhere

  • Poetic..there are no words to describe this song

  • I don't believe they sound anything like Opeth. I really like In Mourning's music, but I cannot stand Opeth's :(

  • @ihavetourettesxx your a douchebag opeth is waaay better than this shit maybe its because you have tourettes that you can't appreciate opeth's clean, tight and beautiful sound, douchebag.

  • @ccbfilms are all opeth fans like this? If so, they must all be dick heads :(

  • @ihavetourettesxx nah, i'm a big opeth fan and is still think this band is pretty brutal. just dont pay attention to the other guys i guess

  • @darkslayerryu ah cool cool

  • @ccbfilms Don't rip on this band just because a guy doesn't like Opeth they are both great bands and we are lucky to have bands like this.

  • I don't like Opeth, but I like these guys.

  • @ihavetourettesxx Opeth is amazing, these guys aren't too bad though themselves.

  • quite nice^^

  • Amazing!, long time i has been looking for something Epic as Opeth and now i finally found it!

  • How come I can't hear any Opeth influences? Meh. Both are still good bands. :)

  • omg stop whining its called TAKING INFLUENCE from a band im a huge opeth fan they are my favorite, and these guys do remind me of them but only sometimes because they are taking influence and not just plagiarizing. it reminds me of alot of other stuff that that most likely took influence from as well.

  • They reminded me of opeth and thats not a bad thing. I think their structuring could improve, but this song has some great riffs.

after hearing it once on last fm a week later i heard myself humming the chorus, for death metal to have that effect, it has to be really good.

  • they dont sound like opeth... they sound like in mourning... learn the genre pls

  • The production is simmilar. The riffs are very different.

saying that similar production makes one band a rip off another is as retarded as saying beathoven rips off bach cause they both write music for symphoney orchestras.

  • @hanstas13 hahahaha

  • @uzukazu

well then if u think that then y dont u stop listening to these guys and go listen to opeth.this band is very similar to opeth but not a rip off

  • I hear the Opeth similarities, but this band still maintains a sound that isn't a "rip-off" of Opeth.

  • I prefer them to Opeth.

  • I'll admit, the beginning sounds a hell of a lot like Opeth, but I think that's just to grab your attention. After about 3 minutes you can tell this isn't Opeth at all, and something entirely different and kick ass. I hadn't heard of these dudes before today, and man have I been missing out

  • One of the most beautiful Progressive Melodic Death Metal band i've ever listened to. I don't care if they sound like Opeth. They still are a very, very good band.

  • @Uzukazu im sorry i dont agree with you at all. these guys are just the same genre as opeth its like saying megadeth is a rip off of metallica or norther is a rip off of children of bodom. i think this band is great and i like that they sound like opeth bc opeth is amazing. but yes they do sound like opeth im not arguing with that

  • One thing is being from the same genre, and other is being a rip-off, Metallica and Megadeth both are the same genre, but they sound different one from another, COB and Norther, well, I find Norther being kinda a rip-off of COB, and yeah, I agree that In Mourning is good, but they could be better if they didn't try so hard to sound and be like Opeth.

  • To me that is where your argument fails. Norther sound nothing like COB. This band is awesome, I do see the Opeth influence, but I can't see them being a rip off of Opeth

  • @unsuretimmy Norther do sound like Bodom....

  • @unsuretimmy You basically just disagreed with what he said, explained why, and then agreed with him. hahaha!

  • @CelestialObscurity Nevermind, I thought you were talking to someone else... My mistake

  • @Uzukazu dude...

  • It's impossible not to compare Im Mourning to Opeth because the bands are so similar. Everything including drums, riffs and growling vocals are very similar, only the clean vocals are the big difference (and the fact that IM uses high pitched screams sometimes). This particular song is arguably more "Opethy" than others on the album, and while not being a bad thing per se, makes the band look like a cheap rip-off, which is sad cause the band is absolutely one of the best newcomers to the genre.

  • I don't think it really matters. Their style sure is an adopted rip-off of Opeth, but as long as it is satisfyingly good music, I can live with it. It's not like they've covered an entire Opeth album. ^^"

  • This is weird. Interesting sound.

  • FUCK YOUR GUYS STUPID COMPARISONS. JESUS CHRIST JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP.

    IN MORNING PWNS SO HARD.

    \m/ Keep it METAL!

  • never heard these guys before but - damn!

i read the comments before listening and grew tired of the comparisons to the mighty opeth, but upon listening the styles are very similar. lets face it though-no band on this level is "better" than another for its all just artistic expression relative to the listeners taste. great band !

  • i 100% non-agree!! ..the whole "musical taste" is about what you are used to hear and it was made for children not to fight couse of music!! you recognize good music by its musicality(soul/creativy/melody/technicality .ect)

  • That is so true.

  • Just bought this album. It's awesome.

  • Såg dom live igår =) Dom va asbra =P Ska börja lyssna på dom =D

  • Min farmors "killes" Son som sjunger (A)

  • Going to see them live tomorrow. It's going to be great!

  • Oh come on, this is not shit, these are great, admit it. Rock on guys! You're the best band ever!

  • This band is totally underrated.

I got the album and they are really awesome.

Yes it might be there are some similarities to Opeth, on the other hand I think there is no real comparison possible. The styles of music just differ too much.

  • i like this band better than opeth...dont gotta sit through 10 minute songs to get enjoyment.. the only thing opeth got under their belt for me to enjoy all the way through is bleak

  • Fuck no. You CAN'T compare shit to Opeth. This band is good, but not even a 10% close to de complexity of Opeth's music.

  • Opeth is not the world's greatest band. Opeth is great, but this band's DEBUT is amost on par with Opeth's peak!

  • Nothing's great. Everything's relative to each one's mind.

  • Well of course, when dealing with arts and entertainment it is very difficult to be objective.

  • I'd even say it's completely impossible... what might seem like the greatest bs to someone might be the revelation of music to another. I, though, consider both opeth AND in mourning superior bands in their own right. and, the drums on this song are beyond words :)

  • @VentoRdrummeR

Well there is a point where you just can't make any comparison since it all depends on ppl's criteria...

Eventhough.. there's no way we're making a comparison between Opeth and Taking Back Sunday.. there's something else than relativity there :P

  • i'm tempted to agree. musically these guys are pretty good...in the ballpark with opeth at least. however, tobias simply can't compete with mikael vocally. if they ever mix up the vocals a bit then they may very well compare with the (for now) incomparable OPETH!!!

  • because its practically the same genre? and with some more clean vocals these guys would be equal to opeth.

  • ty ABG

    5:32 <3

  • <3!!! Love it!

Trying to find a place to download/buy the albums? Anyone know?

  • download off isohunt(dot)com

    or buy it off amazon(dot)come

  • iTunes

  • really good. sounds a lot like Opeth. a bit more brutal, but the progressive touch is there :D

  • Probably one of the most unnoticed bands, these guys fucking rule!
