It's really funny I used to sell dodge chargers before I became a mechanic for gm and they are the biggest POS cars ever, The only way to have a good quality charger is to put a fully custom engine in it. I've worked on so many and I have taken many of them apart and it amazed me with all the shitty parts these chargers have. Thats why they depreciate so much, you can buy one for $20k+ and you will be lucky if it's worth half that once you drive it off the lot.
Chargers truly are a mediocre 4 door muscle car, fortunately for them there aren't many competitors. The G8 owns the Charger in every category, from price to performance.

But on the real the g8 is way superior.Cheaper,nicer,faster better handling&etc. I raced an r/t this weekend at the races & he got me by a hood, I was very upset at first cause i know the GT beats an r/t.. That is until i found out that the r/t had a predator tune, Full exhaust & a k&n Intake.I dont feel so bad anymore he needed all of that to get me by a hood he deserved it. -GM Guy

Now, i'm a Dodge fan even though i've never stepped foot in the US but show the VE some corners and it would leave the Charger for dead. Drag races only show whos got the biggest engine. Corners show which car and driver has the most skill.
The Pontiac G8 is as American as Bondi Beach. The G8 is actually a Holden VE Commodore and is actually a great car. Especially since Holden spent a $1Billion and 6 years designing and building it. It rivals and even betters the BMW 5 series according to many sources, TopGear for one!
Actually after seeing that I am VERY disapointed..... in the G8, first lets look at specs, that appears to be a regular R/T, not a Road and Track or a Daytona, that's 340 HP. Anywho, G8 has .3 extra liters of displacement, 21 more HP, an extra gear and 100 less pounds, oh, and the G8 CLEARLY jumped the gun, had it not it would have been VERY close.
Fast forward to 09 where the R/T has a 369 HP Hemi, nearly 30 more than previously, and a jump is the G8 GTs only prayer and then it isn't much of one, especially against a Daytona which gets a deeper gear to go with that extra power :D Of course I know this is just a trip to troll-land, but thought I'd poit those obvious things out, especially the G8 GT getting a jump LOL
Actually there are 2 different R/Ts in the 06-08 models, the regular R/T with 340 HP and stnadard soft ride suspension, then the Road and Track package R/T (which I was referring to and this one is NOT) that has 350 HP, different exhaust, suspension, and most importantly a better factory PCM tuning, basically the same as the Daytona, just without all the graphics and even more importantly the Road and tracks and Daytonas are about 3/10ths quicker in the 1/4 mile than a regular R/T.
For 09 the Charger gets 269 HP in regular models and 272 in the Road and Track and Daytona and with the Daytona, most importaly, it gets the Challengers 3.06 axle ratio (automatic Challengers are going as quick as 13.4 in the 1/4 mile while most stock G8Gts seem to be running high 13s and a lot of low 14s. Oh and the G8 GT definatly left before the R/T did, watch it again bub......

Alright stewl67. How about this? I took a Hemi Charger R/T not one, but FOUR times in row in an f'n Ford Contour SVT for god sakes. Granted it weighs 3300 lbs loaded and makes about 275 HP. Still, he was not even close. I also own a G8 GT, and it is way faster. Hemi Chargers do 0-60 in ~6.0 seconds. They are not super fast.

Well, here's the problem with that theory:
I sold, last November,an 07 Shelby GT, at about 335 bhp, and I used to smoke the dog shit out of hemi Daytonas in that car.
Yesterday morning, I took delivery of an 09 G8 GT and I KNOW that this car would kill that Shelby that I sold.
So...
There's no way in frickin' hell that a hemi Daytona is gonna take my new G8 (if we're both stock). No way!

the lighting makes the charger look more aggressive but i think overall the G8 looks better even in V6 form without many changes. to each his own though. if you compare the R/T daytona however, i'd be 50/50

Now, i'm a Dodge fan even though i've never stepped foot in the US but show the VE some corners and it would leave the Charger for dead. Drag races only show whos got the biggest engine. Corners show which car and driver has the most skill.

The Pontiac G8 is as American as Bondi Beach. The G8 is actually a Holden VE Commodore and is actually a great car. Especially since Holden spent a $1Billion and 6 years designing and building it. It rivals and even betters the BMW 5 series according to many sources, TopGear for one!

Actually after seeing that I am VERY disapointed..... in the G8, first lets look at specs, that appears to be a regular R/T, not a Road and Track or a Daytona, that's 340 HP. Anywho, G8 has .3 extra liters of displacement, 21 more HP, an extra gear and 100 less pounds, oh, and the G8 CLEARLY jumped the gun, had it not it would have been VERY close.

Fast forward to 09 where the R/T has a 369 HP Hemi, nearly 30 more than previously, and a jump is the G8 GTs only prayer and then it isn't much of one, especially against a Daytona which gets a deeper gear to go with that extra power :D Of course I know this is just a trip to troll-land, but thought I'd poit those obvious things out, especially the G8 GT getting a jump LOL

Actually there are 2 different R/Ts in the 06-08 models, the regular R/T with 340 HP and stnadard soft ride suspension, then the Road and Track package R/T (which I was referring to and this one is NOT) that has 350 HP, different exhaust, suspension, and most importantly a better factory PCM tuning, basically the same as the Daytona, just without all the graphics and even more importantly the Road and tracks and Daytonas are about 3/10ths quicker in the 1/4 mile than a regular R/T.

For 09 the Charger gets 269 HP in regular models and 272 in the Road and Track and Daytona and with the Daytona, most importaly, it gets the Challengers 3.06 axle ratio (automatic Challengers are going as quick as 13.4 in the 1/4 mile while most stock G8Gts seem to be running high 13s and a lot of low 14s. Oh and the G8 GT definatly left before the R/T did, watch it again bub......

Ummm....he wasn't embellishing....the GXP @ 415hp and 415ft# of torque... with sticky drag tires.... will run high 12s. The GXP is deceptivly fast....reminds me alot of the old turbo Buick Grand Nationals....they look like a family sedan....till you stab the gas pedal.

thats the great thing about pontiac now they already got the g8 gxp out already comes with a v8 6.2 he did leave before the rt becuase he left when the guy dropped his hands so he is quicker so the car might be quicker but u need a driver also

yeah fuccin right. ill dust any charger any day in my g8 gt. the sad truth is that the only charger/challenger that can try to compete wit a g8 gt is the srt8. and i guarentee they will get owned by a gxp. fuck the charger and the whole lx platform. and all of mopar!

Alright stewl67. How about this? I took a Hemi Charger R/T not one, but FOUR times in row in an f'n Ford Contour SVT for god sakes. Granted it weighs 3300 lbs loaded and makes about 275 HP. Still, he was not even close. I also own a G8 GT, and it is way faster. Hemi Chargers do 0-60 in ~6.0 seconds. They are not super fast.

Yet another kid who owns a honda thinking it's that fastest thing in the world. I own an 89 240SX with an RB25DET producing 411HP, and I still know the golden rule when it comes to drag racing.
