20,000 light years away from Earth is an alien teenager hearing this for the first time drinking with his girlfriend and thanking his lucky stars his father bought him an FM radio for Hanukkah.
I haven't seen Beneath The Planet of the Apes in years. The best thing about it was the people worshipping the atom bomb. Nice bit of satire there. Anyways, this song rules.
DC Berman is the undoubtedly one of the greatest singer/songwriters of my generation. Hail, Hail the Silver Jews, shame on Malkamus for not sharing all his genius with this band, lol.. Nevertheless it was not needed
silver jews best album was definitely american water, not tanglewood. second place is starlite walker. third place is natural bridge. TN is not that good.
It's good the band is so great we can all argue about the best album. I asw them in Orlando last year and it was about the last show they did. The band was genius. I Wish Dave would reconsider getting out of music. Too few truly credible bands out there to lose one
I love the silver jews. In my favorite playlist that i made, I've got gimme sympathy (by metric) followed shortly by new orleans and house of the rising sun
holy shit this song is amazingggg
best part.. " so you wanna build an alter on a summer night"

@soundchaser24 This song isn't 20,000 years old so that's not possible. I'm a dickhead and an asshole!

haha this video reminds me of grizzly bear
fucking awesome

Grizzly bear is similarly using film style evocative of film at a certain era.
Grizzly bear is tame and super mellow, and so is that video.
This is a much better song and video by leaps and bounds. This video says a lot of things the song couldn't necessarily say on its own.

GREAT song. But best album??
Saw em first stop of the reunion tour, 40 watt. When they opened with random rules, I knew it was gonna be a good night......

yeah, it is.

@tautou07: indeed, hence the presence of james franciscus and not charlton heston ;)

Christ, are you guys serious?
How do you not know what movie this is from???
It's the original Planet of the Apes.
Hence the presence of Charlton Heston and humanoid apes with nets.
tautou07 3 years ago 8
@tautou07 It's Beneath the Planet of the Apes, dude. The sequel to Planet of the Apes. I know, I was there...
shadowheart52 1 year ago
@tautou07 They are scenes from Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970) - thus the presence of James Franciscus.
