Ummmm correction: Alfonso Ribeiro is NOT Dominican. He is TRINIDADIAN!! My grandfather used to hang with his father. And Alfonso's grandfather is a very famous Calypsonian Roaring Lion!!! Also keep in mind that there were many Cubans in the USA before the Cuban missle crisis. Gina Torres and her family were living in the states and had no problems being Cubans

That is why the USA set up refugee areas in the states for Cubans that were arriving and leaving Cuba because of Fidel in 1959 and in the 1960s. The USA welcomed Cubans into the states in the 1960s because they wanted to gain support in their cause for bringing down Cuba because the USA had this notion of "the dominoe effect" which was that if one place becomes communist then it will spread like dominoes and USA did not want that

These studies are only accurate to a certain degree as they have NOT done studies on every single person that identifies as AAs! Well all I am saying is that most blacks in USA, Latin America, and Caribbean are mixed but yes, they still are considered black! I never denied that they are black! Every family is different

These studies are somewhat inconclusive because you always have different groups and immigrants that may be considered AA when they come here but it just gives you a general idea of the mixture that many AAs have! Just saying! It does NOT change the fact however that most ppl w/ AA heritage or identity identify as black!

@thomclassic1 So, you think "Latin America" has no African descendants? If you think that way, you're ignorant and probably a bigot. African descendants exist all over the Western Hemisphere, not just the English-speaking and French-speaking parts.

@tolldoll100 there were more slaves brought to the Caribbeans than the USA. to the Dominican republic were brought 720.000 slaves and to the USA in the 400,000s go look it up, it makes no sense that some Dominicans claim that they are more white than black!!!
