Nice, Yellow Submarine-era Beatles and Alice in Wonderland do mesh together quite well (hell, in the 60s Alice was just as big with the hippie crowd and shown in colleges along with Yellow Submarine and Fantasia!) I also find it hilarious that Lucy in the Sky had a perfectly innocent explanation for its inspiration but they admitted that the innocuous sounding Got To Get You Into My Life WAS about drugs, pot specifically. Life is funny:)
A song that would fit even more for Alice In Wonderland would be It's All Too Much. The cheery type thing, with the trippiness type thing, I would love to see a video with that.
Uhm, no. John Lennon's son drew him a picture in Kindergarten, and his son had a friend named Lucy and they were best friends. He drew Lucy in the sky with Diamonds, thats what John and his son decided to name the picture that. And since the four beatles were doing LSD at the time, he decided to make that rumor since they literally LOVED to start rumors about themselves LOL! Paul McCartney made the press believe that he was related to Elvis =P

If i ruined the song for some people, I am so very sorry but I just wanted to put this out there. LSD is a hallucinogen and causes people to think unclearly, and hallucinate about unreal things. Listen to the song, to me it describes some one under the influence of LSD. L...ucy in the S...ky with D...iamonds....
It's a song about childhood and child minds. The song is based on the Alice trilogy, and a drawing made by Julian, John Lennon's son, about his girl crush, Lucy, in the Sky, with diamonds. This is obvious due to the reference of kallidoscopes, marmalade, and marshmeallow pies (a.k.a. Moon Pies). Childhood delights.
Actually? Are you sure about that... Cause theres a massive group of people that believe its about acid. And if you've ever done it you'd understand. Also because the phrase Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds

@mellowlanternquartet And to back that up, When John Lennon was a younger boy he loved Alice in Wonderland It makes perfect since that he'd put the colorful background of the book into a song, but some people wanna say it was about an LSD trip when all reality when he wrote this song he had been clean because of his new found interest in Hinduism
@BrentMan870 Well, I clearly remember Macca saying it was about LSD and Lennon made that whole "Julian's drawning" story up. Whatever the truth is, it describes a strong acid experience very well.
John acknowledged that he has used imagery from Alice in Wonderland in writing some of the lyrics to Lucy. This included Alice in a boat on a river, a girl with kaleidoscope eyes, flowers towering over your head etc.
love the part at 0;59 to 01;02 with her pet cat waving goodbye to her from the top of the rabbit hole

Oh my god!
This and through the looking glass were one of John's favorite books.
Makes you wonder if this was the real inspiration to Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.

Lol I thought at first L=lucy, S = Sky, D = Diamonds. But thanks for clearing that up!

The title is like that because of the proper grammar The Beatles used. The first word and other important words in a title are capitalized.
