  • Awesome use of Paper Thin Walls.

  • Will this do Spacey Long Reverbs? Not hearing any in this demo

  • I dont know if anyone could help but how does this compare to the Lexicon Alex. I'm not a big fan of rack units I would prefer to use a stomp pedal. The Price range is very similar between the two so price isnt going to be a problem.

  • pretty stiff sounding and cold if you ask me. Get a wet reverb instead much much better!

  • shit gets real at 6:36

  • Hey, gonna get me one of these. But please tell me what's the chord progression at 2.10 - 2.23. lovely bit of Marley style reggae. Thanks.

  • Are there any pedals that are like a RV-3 with delay and reverb together?

  • @1612HavenhurstDrive Muza FD-900. Word on the street is it sounds better than the RV-3 but it is also quite flimsy.

  • @1612HavenhurstDrive

i think the ehx cathedral has it. no idea if it sounds good though

  • great review man!

  • 8:36 haha paper walls!

  • on a stereo effect like this (and other) i can plug 2 guitar on input a and b, and exit wit output a and b to 2 different amp ?

    Thanks

  • Was that just a modest mouse song used in a pedal demo... i think im dreaming O_O

  • @RockStArSkAtEr996 More than likely, it is an Electro Harmonix HOG. Also, I quite enjoyed that song, thank you.

  • green onions ^___________________^

  • andy sounds kinda down in this review....=[

  • @doc998 agreed

    =((

  • I have one and was happy with it until I heard how warm the T-Rex Room-Mate reverb was ...

  • I love it , I love the reverse reverb it's so trippy , it could be great for live recreations of songs like castles made of sand , and whole lotta love

  • Just tried to buy one at two different stores.

Both units made a loud high pitched sound. Could have been a bad factory run, but be advised and check before buying. Just a friendly heads up.

  • Sounds pretty damn cool

  • I'm really into ambient U2 type delays, but I also really like spacey pink floyd and john frusciante reverb type things, like in his solo stuff. Would you reccomend this or the TC Electronics Hall of Fame?

  • reverse reverb kind of sounds like a violin. or somene using a violin bow on the guitar.

  • I hear guns firing off in the distance whilst watching this

  • Andy,

If you could tell me the chords that you play in the breakdown of the "Paper Thin Walls" riff that you play towards the end of this demo that would awesome. Thanks man!

    -Jake

  • is this good for volume swells?

  • @mewsic156 for that you should get a volume pedal

  • I absolutely love this pedal.

  • Paper Thin Walls by Modest Mouse towards the end there!

  • Andy, do you know how to play every song ever written or what?

  • Cool, I'm glad the "spring" reverb sounds as good as it does. I've been looking at the Boss FRV-1 which is amazing, but this thing has good spring sound as well. Hmmm...decisions decisions.

  • @jg76aries Let me make that decision even harder for you by adding the TC Electronic Hall of Fame on the check-out list ;) It sounds better than the Hardwire Stereo Reverb anyway B-7

  • Andy,is this the made in China version or the USA? also, since they moved to China do you think its the same build quality and components used?and does it even matter?

    thanks.

  • Awesome, the modulated delay sounded like a synth pad playing in the background.

  • one of the best gear demos i have ever seen, thorough.

  • I own a Grail, and like it, but I would have this if I'd been aware of it at the time. The Grail has 3 modes, and one knob, which only adjusts the amount of reverb. A little goes a long way, so I don't turn it much past 9:00 or 10:00. The RV7 sounds a bit more grown-up, and has a lot more options for tailoring the sound to match exactly what you're looking for. I may grab one. I still like the onboard tube 'verb on my Princeton Reverb and Concert, but for a 'verbless amp, this is nice.

  • which one is better? this pedal or EH holy grail reverb?

  • Comment removed

  • Stand by me by the clash! Fuck yeah!

  • @superlou1s Train in Vain

  • 3:57 is when the reverse reverb part starts.

  • @fruitbatrepublic

OMG!! Thanks for putting up the time stamp in your comment!! I LOVE the reverse reverb on this pedal.

  • @fruitbatrepublic this thing has reverse reverb??? shit i just might...

  • @fruitbatrepublic I lol'd cuz thats what I came here for too.

  • is the intro song Master Blaster? Lol sounds like it

  • @iLikechevelle SRV ::so excited

  • Very honest review. I have the reverb and it does exactly as in the clip. Do not expect huge rooms or over the top sounds. It's for a more mature sound imo. It does drain batteries very fast though. 4hrs and the battery is dead. On the good side a simple adapter works just fine. No hums or anything. Best thing for me is that this reverb does not color your sound at all. Try it and see if you like it yourself.

  • Does this work for metal( 80's-racer x stuff)?

  • MAH MAH MAH MAH MAH MAH MAH MAH MAH SOUL OH MY SOUL!

  • As always, great review and made even better by playing some Modest Mouse towards the end!

  • this pedal looks wicked. But will it take my 9v connection output the same as my boss pedals>?

  • @theacemaverick

    yeah..!!

  • @theacemaverick yes it takes a regular boss adapter or daisy chain

  • Was that 'I just can't get enough'? Wicked.

  • @mverdi9 most def dude, after hearing that, i would love to see a video of him playing that! haha

  • This pedal or the EHX Holy Grail Nano?

  • @Juantizzle i'd say this...no true bypass "pop" that most EH pedals have, lots more options with this.. just my $0.02

  • @Juantizzle Also wish to know.

  • paper thin walls!! :D

  • i like the playing on 5.40-6.00

  • I just got one of these oon sale for $49 bucks!! These are :LEXICON reverbs people, Forget the dense plastic comparision opinions. This is ab anazing quality box all the HArdwire series is really good. Best damn reverb unit I have ever used!

  • Where did you get this for $49? New or used?

  • Is this reverb included in on of the Digitech multi effects units? I might have a bigger bang for the buck that way.

  • There is this and line6 verbzilla, people should consider while buying reverb pedal. Both are great.

  • I think this is better than the BOSS. Unless you want to support taiwan's economy, I'd stay away from boss. Much to digital for me.

  • is it true bypass?

  • Turn up the decay on the reverse mode!!!!! ARRRRGGGG!!!!

  • 0:09 which song is that?

  • i get decent reverb out of my little fender amps if i angle it in my hallway just right haha.whats a good reverb pedal for $100-ish cheaper preferably, just enough for a bit of depth or a springy jazz echo, nothing crazy.

  • Would this be able to get that octave sound like the verbzilla?

  • the reverse setting on this pedal is great for that mbv sound!

  • what about the digiverb? is it too crappy?

  • Is there any reverb pedal as good as this one?

    I like

This might be the one just exploring the options so I can make a wise choice. I'm looking a reverb to use in tandem with the VOX night train soon.

  • this is a fantastic pedal highly recommend-remember tho like all good equipment, spend time in the store, run it through couple different guitars & amps, sise by side other pedals in the range. good musicians can tweak sounds out of any pedal, amp or guitar regardless of quality, cost or vintage. use your ear not a magazines marketing spin. oh yeah great pedal!

  • can this pedal do the panning effect when plugged in stereo?

  • I dont think so, a good one for that is the gig-fx chopper or mx m159

  • I always say echo instead of reverb because i can't find a definition for it!

  • what song is he playing from 5:29-6:00?

  • The spring reverb on this pedal is awesome!

  • wow! That actually sounded like it was live!

  • can someone explain me what is a reverb???

  • imagine yelling down a long long hallway.. thats reverb .

  • gives you a nice echo sound like your in a big old room or something just makes your sound way bigger iguess

  • reverb is like echo. like broodkill says imagine yelling down a hall or a tunnel.

  • reverb is a word derived from reverberation... reverberation is the sound of your guitar tone bouncing off of objects then bouncing back at you. bigger the room, more reverb...

older amps (50's and 60's) used spring reverbs that didn't actually simulate the room reverbs accurately but gave a cool tone... you hear that sort of reverb a lot on surf rock and rockabilly type stuff... more model pedals use digital circuitry to more accurately replicate those tones.

  • reverb means echo!

  • why anyone would want a holy grail or anything boss is beyond me. if you want a really good reverb get the earthquaker ghost echo reverb or the malekko spring chicken/chicklet.

this reverb in the video actually sounds pretty decent though.

  • I think the new Boss RV-5 sounds more full that this one.

  • Boss sucks shit

  • I think the Boss RV-5 is a bit better. This is nice though. I think the Boss sounds more full.

  • gary moore uses this model if i'm not mistaken

  • one of the better reverb pedals out there. it's basically an improved version of the Boss RV-5. But, if you want a better spring reverb, id go for the boss FRV-1. the Malekko spring chicken takes second place for me.

Holy Grail is not as versatile. sorry for you EH fans out there.

personally, i like the modulated setting the best. I like a lush, ambient reverb for when i play jazz. Don't really use reverb for much anything else.

also, the dr. scientist reverberator is pretty good as well.

  • @mrdecentface yes.

  • think this is better than the new boss/fender one?

  • sounds soooo good to my ears

  • Great Reverb pedal. The Lexicon reverbs are the shit. Had a Marshall Reflector; the Hardwire is far superior than the Marshall. Onstage or recording, it's studio quality reverb. I use it with my Marshall 1974X and it's perfect. As lush or subtle as I need it to be.

  • this is a brilliant reverb stomp-box, the best i've used. The Hardwire range is excellent quality.

  • People need to stop judging all the time with this pedal with another because it is all personal preference and how the person plays or what they person plays. I've seen people like the cheaper stuff for that fresh poppy plastic sounds or more expensive ends for the smooth rolling sound so i honestly think people should just try it themselve and see if they like it or not everyone has their own taste

  • Exactly.

  • @Morethanl1f3 ;klk; qkk;qqqlq;;'''[[[====

  • what i want to know is why is it when people do demos of reverb pedals they NEVER really show what the reverse can do ??? totally beguiling...

  • This pedal got me at the hall setting mmmmmmm

  • better than BOSS RV-5 ?

  • this is 10 times better than boss rv-5

  • HOW?

  • Bought it last week, I had to choose between this and the RV-5. This one wins.

I really wanted to hate these hardwire pedals, especially since the guys at my guitar center were pushing them, but they actually are pretty decent.

  • This or the Line 6 Verbzilla?

  • this

  • both.

  • I have a 59 Bassman LTD. It does not have reverb. This pedal alone, made the amp sound like a million bucks. Well worth the purchase.

  • Thank you for this comment, I use the same amp reissue. Sounds SO amazing. But need reverb...my holy grail sucks, sounds good but so unreliable, fucks up the tone AND now it cuts out if u kick it the wrong way...so i've been looking for a new reverb pedal. I was thinking either this or the boss 63 spring reverb...

  • YOu won't have any reliability issues with these Hardwire pedals. I have couple of them, they're top-notch quality. And the sound quality is first-rate all the way. IMO, this pedal line is just about the best value in the entire pedal market today. rgds.

  • how do you compare this with digitech digiverb x series...

especially the reverse mode plate and gated..

thanks hope to hear from you soon

  • So is this analog or digital? The tail switch is pretty friggin cool.

  • All reverb that is not a real spring or plate reverb is digital. That said, this is digital.

  • Well Hardwire is a branch of DIGI-tech so that pretty much explains it all lol

  • So nice sounding...

  • Great reverb, but I'll keep my Holy Grail :)

  • is this better than the nova reverb?

  • IMO. Yes, with price point AND quality in mind.

  • If the Nova had more preset functionality and were about fifty bucks cheaper, it'd be better. As it is, it's nothing but a missed opportunity.

  • Man, that thing is awesome! It could just be the demos guys taste in music, The Clash, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Depeche Mode. lol.

  • I really appreciate these reviews- best gear videos on YouTube

  • when im with you baby...

  • man i have that pedal and trustme thats all you need for reverb.

  • that pedal reminds me of optimus prime.....

  • Speaking of wich, i'm eagerly waiting to see Transformers 2!

  • PAPER THIN WALLS!

  • MODEST FUCKING MOUSE!!

  • Wearing my Buffallo shirt, right now. :D

  • best reverse verb i have ever heard

im stuck between this, a verbzilla, an rv5 or a cheaper marshall reflector.

  • the rv-5 and reflector are bland compared to the RV-7. If you want/need the octo setting, get the Verbzilla. If you want reverse/gated reverb, go for the RV-7. That's basically what it comes down to.

  • I had a lot of trouble with my Marshall Reflector. (after warrantee of course!)

Squealing when powered by a battery.

    Intermittent funtioning at all.

I've finally declared it dead, rather than wait for the next time it decides to work.

I was never impressed with its reverse sound in the first place.

People always comment on it being "built like a tank." It's actually two boards, a delicate ribbon connector, etc, stuffed into a very heavy box.

I have Tech21 Boost RVB now, and love it.

  • that depeche mode riff mae me cry..in a nice way..thanks PGS

  • I'm not impressed at all by what I hear from the spring reverb.

Has anyone seen a quality review displaying showing what the spring mode can do ?

  • on reverse mode, i heard no dry signal. does this pedal kill the dry signal completely? and level is not mix but control how loud? only on reverse mode.

  • how much does one of these cost in australia?

  • Of course is sounds good, have you heard anything that Andy plays that sounds bad?

The dude is amazing, he could play a wal-mart guitar through some PC speakers and make it sound good.

Of course the G&L Legacy into that 65 amp SoHo doesn't hurt.

Definitely digging the hardwire pedals though. Finally, digitech did something right!

  • This sounds great... Great idea having Lexicon do the reverbs.

  • this vs line 6 verbzilla?

    which is better?

  • i would say the line 6 is better but this is still good

  • This definitely, better quality sounds and true bypass

  • THIS... the verbzilla has a whole bunch of issues.

  • Is your dry signal completely analog or is it converted to digital also?

  • Is this made in the USA?

  • Would it sound any less awesome if it wasn't?

    Come on people...

  • There are pedals made in the U.S. that do sound awesome. If this is made in china, I wouldn't buy it. This pedal does sound good.

    Get it?

  • Wow, my ModFactor sounds killer but is made in Taiwan. Shit I'll throw it away!

  • douche..... So youll never find out how great the Japanese Fenders are.

  • The one Andy is playing is probably made in the U.S, The newer ones are made in China.

  • Seriously?

  • lexicon huh? impressive

  • the reverse reverb sound is really cool

    just what i want

  • Comment removed

  • i just tried this thing for the first time today.

    its absolutely AMAZING

    better than boss rv-5

only thing i find bad about it

is that the hall and modulate modes

sound like a little watered down version

of the boss rv-5 version, but there both easily comparable.

  • does the level knob boost level of your output signal volume at all? i'd want to be able to boost the volume a little when i go to the reverb for the big sound...

  • The Level only increases the amount of reverb, not the dry signal. Although It may seem louder with a drenched reverb sound.

    -PGS

  • Naw, but you could just hook up a volume pedal, put it at like 3/4 volume, and press it all the way when you go to the reverb...

  • never mind that was a silly question

  • is it true bypass

  • if I hear tears dont fall by bullet for my valentine on this pedal, AND i like it... then i will buy it. please give me a demonstration.

  • I work in a music store in Pa. and I've got to say the Hardwire series of pedals are phenomonal. I don't like anything Digitech does with the exception of the Hardwire series. Well, the Jamman is also really good, but I don't get into that. I would definitely suggest these pedals over many others, and believe me, I've tried a lot.

  • if i only connect the input 1 (mono), the outputs 1 and 2 are activated, or only the output 1 is activated?

that pedal sounds really good, but i need a stereo output whit a mono input.....

    thanks....

  • I think the Hardwire series is the best thing Digitech could ever do.

They (the pedals) make me weak in the knees.

  • From this demo I think this reverb sounds better than the Boss reverbs. Does anyone have an opinion about that or has anyone made a comparison?

  • I own a Boss RV-5 and I can tell you that yes. But the only feature I miss in this RV-7 (which Boss has) is some spacey echo reverb like the "Modulate Mode" in the RV-5. But besides that the RV-7 has similar reverb presets with a better sound quality.

  • the rv-7 had a modulate mode i thought

  • this hardwire (all hardaware) is analogo pedal or is digital? thanx

  • This is Digital, the Overdrive and Distortion pedals from Hardwire are analog.

    -PGS

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos Really? I though Digitech did everything digital? That just made my decision a lot easier...I'm gonna get the Valve drive. Thanks

  • andy your a great guitarist,thanks!!

  • True Bypass is great!.. if that is what you want..sometimes, with EHX pedals for example the buffered signal may be a plus when used with other pedals, players choice! I love all 3 of my Hardwire pedals so far! Great Line hope to see more at NAMM.. Phaser? Compressor? EQ? PLEASE!!!
