Is this service procedure the same for the RLC version? I have travel adjust on the air side/left cap, I can just imagine a load of springs going missing when opening the cap! On the Fox website they don't actually touch the air side in the service? Is this necessary? They also say to use 10wt suspension oil to lubricate the foam rings, not Float Fluid? What to do?!

@pawel8322 should be similar. You should have a small amount of oil on the fork stanchions, that's good..lots means you need to clean the seals with a strip of card.
Hi Thanks for the upload :) If have an fox 32 rl 100 fork which need a service and I am considering to try it out by myself..... Do you know if it i the same procedure is that one you have uploaded???
Yes changed the oil and seals as per the video. Managed to get lockout working by using the knob and turning clockwise untill cant move any more. Then just repositioned the knob at 6 o clock and jobs a good un. But for some reason rebound is stuck. No oil leaks and put 160cc in.
a sureley good thing to do to ur forks to get the fluid out of them when servicing them just hit the bottom with the handle of what looked like an hammer
you will find the damper rods sometimes stick in the fork outers. To break the seal, I use a nice soft wooden hammer handle to jar the rod out once the nut has been removed. The oil will then drain out.
@Blumphermann i wasnt criticisig or anything i remember taking apart a set of suntour xcr spring forks just to see the inner workings i had a wooden handle hammer only at the time i didnt think of using the wooden end like an idiot i used thehammer end and scrached the bottom of the forks

HOw's this fork working for you? I bought one on grey, and I'm undecided If i should keep it, resell it or exchange it. Is the Fox Float 32 140mm, I paid $440, too much! I want the Rock Shox REba but is around the same price. FOX looks nicer and has better reputation.
I decided to buy the Rock SHox Reba. It will need services soon. I'm just watching every video I can find, the sram tech youtube video offer some good ones. Yours are more into the real work. like I said the 1st time I met you on the TUBE, that one was the HOLLOWTECH II vid. Thanks.
you can use rc model fuel called nitromethanol for cleaning those foam rings , just drop them in adn watch them puff out . give them a squeeze until all the crap comes out and remove from solution. once completly dry they will return to origonal size once again but look brand new clean!
if the play is front to back, it could be the bushings in the fork legs, but do they knock when you ride them? There is a bit of clearance that the oil film takes up when they are moving. I'd service them, you can check the fork stanchions for wear then as well whilst they are apart.Make sure you have the right amount of oil in there as that may be the reason if the play is in the up/down direction.
Are you sure the headset is set right as this can sometimes knock sililar to worn forks...
I took them apart today after watching your demonstration very helpful. I found the route of the problem it was the threaded insert at the end of the air shaft it had sheared off. I am wondering why the air shaft is hollow is this to save weight? If that is the case would a solid shaft be ok to use? as i could have one machined at work. many thanks
don't know why the shaft is hollow, can;t remember well enough as it was some months ago I did this service. It's up to you what you do, but they are quite critical safety items and I'd be tempted to get the correct spare from mojo direct, it's probably cheaper than you think.
i phoned them today and they have quoted me £35 i think thats reasonable and i am considering a new one. the only thing that concerns me is when i stripped the components off of the shaft the holes that the split pins go through were dented and burred from when it would of been drilled thus causing the shaft to bend slightly over time and causing uneven pressure on the thread which i think resulted in the breakage. So im worried if the quality would be the same on a new one. cheers!
hmmm...normally the fox stuff is very well made, if light, whereas the rockshox internals were made of cheese and marzocchi very well made, but heavier....you can't have everything!
i had a look at some rocks didn't think much to them, but kept with mine due to foxes background with supension on motorbikes Been looking at online reviews about my forks not really seen anything related to the problem with mine, so think im going ahead with buying another shaft (going to jynx myself now) and hope lightning doesn't strike twice.

Fox Float or Rock Shox Lyrik????
scaniamenr620 1 year ago
depends on what you're riding...the lyric is a beefier fork, so better for more freeriding style riding...

It's my friends' not mine...
We pay over $620 for that fork over here so count yourself lucky!
If you service it regularly, the fox is a better fork I think, and smoother.
