The cartel, I think the daughter of the killed king pin, had Gibbs wife, Shannon, and eight year old  daughter Kelly, killed and burned in a car crash.

Gibbs suffers due to not being there to prevent their murders. He works on his series of boats to ease his pain and his burbon sips.

He made some baaad choices of wives after the perfect one he met before he left home for the military was killed. Life.

I didn't know young Gibbs is Mark's son. Handsome in his special way, some of his mom's features too.  Especially , I love the romantic train station encounter...this is true love, like his true-life real marriage. A beautiful family.
