@MrWarlock616 Search for "ted talk string theory" and you will get an excellent 20 minute video that explains everything in simple english. It's the best introduction video on this subject that I've seen.
unless i missed it, where does the observer come into play in string theory? So im supposed to believe gods voice resionates the strings of protons and neutrons within an atom to a specific frquency thus creating a specific and corresponding matter? hmm not bad but i dont like the that theres no observer and to suggest that there is a higher power in control imediatley suggest that you are a lower power and and incapable of comprehending its intensions, i smell christianity all over this
@Jasin2183 the theory doesn't insist that there is a higher power. Michio was just refering the strings as God in the sense there would be nothing else to turn to. He goes from atoms, electrons, protons and neutrons, to quarks and then finally the smallest of all the strings.
@IIIB52 still confused about about where, if at all, the whole "if your looking its a particle and if your not its a wave" part of QM comes into play with string theory. Or is this an entirley different theory all together? I like the model that suggest that consiousness is the very fabric of reality, in other words thought is whats real and the pyhsical is the illusion. Is he suggesting that our thoughts are the strummers of these strings? Again where does the observer come into string theory?
@cleanloader hahahahaha i started reading your comment and i was thinking right where is this going then the punch line.............funniest thing ive read (and heard all week)
M-theory has trumped String Theory since '95. Most theoretical physicist see M-theory as the mother of all theories with 11 dimensions, one more than String Theory.
0:45 there he said that recreating the big bang wasn't possible... at that instant i thought "maybe our universe is an experiment created by a type 3 (or type 4 as he mentioned in another video) civilization"
Watched videos eh? I'm sure you've taken your position from a very intricate episode of Dragonball or whatever other closet-virginesque media prompted your opinions. U believe in radio waves even though they r invisible, right? Of course, because someone smarter than u (probably a scientist) figured that one out and your cell phone works... Right? So just take the word of physicists all around the world who figured out MATHMATICLY that quantum theory and the theory of relativity could be married through ten dimensions. And that also no four dimensional object can observe higher dimensions.
@mannyspencer You're too much of a spastic to weigh in on this. I suggest for your own sake that you shut the fuck up before you make more or a tool out of yourself.
Ugh... Haters gonna hate, but really... I'm critical enough of this and of M theory and Dark matter/energy that I'd dismiss it completely... Evidence of your Science fiction-like theories physicists please... Evidence or it's bullshit. And no, written equations aren't evidence.
@IvanderHaisley You can write an equation for anything. Written symbols alone on a white or chalk board mean nothing and have no value without physical, tangible evidence to back it up.
@Versudan but the values being given are those which are measurable, or had been measured, and are used to measure the unmeasurable .. like the electron and dimensions and such :D
@IvanderHaisley None of which has ANYTHING to do with String Theory. Try and stay on the topic at hand in stead of wondering off and trying to derail this. This idiot in the video has literally said in other videos that it is not possible to actually test String Theory in reality. It is a complete sack of shit.
@brenoakiy Yeah, right. Tell me when you find a way to observe this 'multiverse' or jump to an alternate reality that you can survive in that he keeps talking about.
@brenoakiy This video explains how much of a retard he is. He's pinned his hopes on one tiny, insignificant detail in the hopes of validating the rest of what he's proposing. He's proposing multiverses, alternate reality, ten dimensions...
This guy's an idiot and more of a TV celebrity than a scientist. Almost nothing of what comes out of his mouth can be taken seriously. He calls the 'net a 'planetary telephone system'. Sounds to me like "THE INTERNET IS NOT A TRUCK! IT'S A SERIES OF TUBES!"

How many times do you have to read about a scientist being ridiculed for his original idea by the ignorant, traditionalist, simple-minded masses just so that another scientist could prove it to be true 100 years later?
@cjsolx I'm not ridiculing this guy for saying we don't have the technological capacity to test this YET. Michio Kaku has openly said in other videos that it's unlikely that we ever will be able to test this. So he's already contradicting himself. If we believed every crackpot who came forward and presented whatever they'd squeezed out of their brains and claimed it was legitimate without proof, we'd all still believe in the bible and it would stay like that.
@Versudan A theory being unproven or us not being able to prove it doesn't make it any less of a legitimate theory. Something can be 100% true, but be on a scale beyond our physical grasp.
And that's not what I said at all lol. Being simple-minded has less to do with your vocabulary than the ideas you deem worthy of the realm of possibility. God is within the realm of possibility [depending on what your idea of "God" is].. So are wormholes and other dimensions.
@Versudan Now, I'm not some kind of mastermind physicist and don't claim to be.. But while you seem intelligent enough, you simplify your world far too much to be taken seriously.
@cjsolx What you said, simplified: "Your choice of vocabulary isn't complex enough to tickle the stick firmly shoved up my ass. Your argument is invalid."
@Versudan you said electrons had nothing to do with string theory, I replied the theory involves them. then you started a stupid argument telling me to prove it even though I never said anything about being in favor of the theory. then you said the physicist is retarded, his theory is non-sense, etc...nothing to do with the topic.
then, more of this "prove it" bullshit and now, intelligent design?!
honestly, stop defecating through your fingers and enough with this mindless "argument".
@Versudan "Evidence or it's bullshit." This is the very essence of a "false dilemma" which is a form of argument outright identified as an invalid argument. I saw you type that you're critical of the subject matter which is great. However, blind refutation isn't a form of critical analysis. It's the opposite. You've refuted before analyzing. Stop flattering yourself by assuming the position of supreme validator and approach the subject with analytical scrutiny instead of ignorant dejection.
@mikeythebox Haha, you're a fucking idiot. You have no IDEA how long I've known about string theory, super gravity and M theory. I've known about all of these for years. I didn't suddenly watch this one video and decide it's bullshit. Originally, I gave the retard in this video the benefit of the doubt, but the more of his videos on this I watched, the more and more fucking retarded it sounded, with no small helping hand from the idiot in the video himself. Now take your bullshit and fuck off :)
@Versudan The fact that you've watched videos on the topic doesn't change the default invalidity of your argument. You're wrong even before you start talking about the topic. You should really work on your reading comprehension, mouth breather.
@mikeythebox The more you talk peasant, the more of an idiot you make yourself out to be. Unlike you, I've not just watched videos, I've read enough to know this is purely theoretical and unlike most things, String Theory CANNOT ACTUALLY BE TESTED IN REAL LIFE. EVER. The dumbshit in the video has even admitted it in another of his MTV wannabe videos. He shot himself in the foot and you're still desperately defending him. Suck it, you filthy lower class peasant. I win by default.
Of course if we do discover this universe equation we can't get any technological improvements but we could finally have a better society by just vanishing every ignorant religion with the truth.
@Zodiarkz the bigger the equation is the more likely it can be untrue. think of the surface area of a parachute, the bigger it is the more likely there will be a hole. In an equation as simple as E=MC2 it is analogousness to a simple structure in engineering or architecture. the simpler the better.
You know I've always wondered, what if the equation he's looking for isn't "one inch long"? What if it is complicated? If we had the final answer we were seeking, would we discard it simply because it wasn't elegant?
marijuana promotes brain cell growth (UCLA Study, source). weed is the key to unlock the door to other dimessions. weed floats in the pool of knowledge. weed is the ignition switch that get you off the launching pad.
Makes me think that behind everything is physics and math
Then I think behind that further is psychology, our drive to learn about physics and math, and our drive to get on this life boat to a new universe, all because in our mind is the instinct to live
i think he is wrong, we will get better tvs and better radio signals and better things overall if we discover the theory of everything, just the way we discovered electricity, relativity ,atom particles etc... which allowed us to eventually change the world
@yourowngod1 That is not what kaku said, you imbecile. Infact your whole comment tells me you have no idea what you're talking about. All you needed to do was listen, and you can't even to that correctly.
Downhearted to hear that with this string he can salvage the universe from its cold grave and yet this string cannot even extend his life to match just that of the Siqoua tree for at least 3000 years so that his great mind can still make miracles(nevermind my lesser mind). What is so difficult of this organic molecule- can you not reduce it to string so that it will play the music of immortality?
Simple, lol!!! String theory is based on the principle that one object can be in more than one places at the same time, therefor for every 1 matter theirs infinite possibility. So answer everyone is looking for is 1 = ∞. Short, simple, sweet.
@TheTarrMan What you just said would be written somthing like what i'll write soon since what you describe is not equality but an inequality (or whatever it's called in english)
x; (meaning the position, or status or whatever of the matter)
0<x<∞, asuming it can't take a negative state. Theoreticaly wrong, and even if it was theoreticaly right you are still mathematicaly wrong :P
@ffsboom String theory comes from the experiments they did in particle accelerators. The results would change just because of the simple act of perception, (they put a camera to watch the results happen) as if the particles are in countless different spots at the same time only when no one is looking. The only thing saying “they are hear” is the viewer. So how does 0<x<∞ relate to what he, or I was talking about?
@TheTarrMan I know all of that, and it doesn't have anything to do with what he said. But you said infinite POSSIBILITIES (notice posibilities, not equality) and possible values are described like that in mathematics. Your 1 = (infinite) is WRONG, my 0 < x < (infinite) is certanly WRONG, however asuming that you would want to describe the possible places an object can be in you do write it like that, x being the objects position :) Actualy, you write it in another way but simplified :P
I just had a thought. What if our universe is just the last in a line of universes created by the most advanced civilization in the one prior to ours, as a way to survive the death of it, or at least bring life a new chance? Just pure philosophical speculation, I know, but it still has lower odds than "god" as described in the bible.
@Hopefulfilment Interesting, but would it necessarily be the last in line? wouldn't we possibly be able to create the "next" universe just like the people in the "previous" universe did? By "we" I mean the future, and hopefully more advanced, humans (or whatever we evolve into) currently occupying this universe.
@rennotasil Thats kind of what I meant. Maybe should have said "latest" instead. I don't give it a big chance to be true though, but maybe a 10 billion year old civilization would have the technology.
Great video, brilliant man however I can't help but be confused. He wants a theory on everything but it has to be short? It has to be elegant? Unfortunately that may mean that if the answer is "ugly" he could ignore it? Didn't einstein make the same mistake in regards to dark matter?
@rustytool100 but i think its a very ascertained planning ahead, i mean if we are still here millions of years from now our knowledge and technology will be waaaaaaaaaaaaaaayy superior which will allow us things that we cant even imagine now
@johnshopkinsh not replaced, its still taught everywhere. m theory and brane theory as alternative theories that are being looked at. theyre all mindfucks O.o but i think string theory has some validity to it
A type 3 civilization to own their success to an inch long equation?
As he has said it, even nothing is unstable ... I would add that even everything is unstable and that even an inch long equation is unstable.
Because the rules of the universe tend to change depending on other (probably outside) factors.
A black hole created today may impact us for the future, everything impacts everything else, even an atom, even a star, even nothing impacts something and something impacts nothing.
@TheUnkow God is a phenomenon that does not get impacted upon, but can make impact over nothing or something or everything. Phenomenon like that may or may not exist, we just have to understand the universe a lot more to answer that.
Perhaps the universe or multiverse is just those positive against negative forces at work. positive is existence and the negative non-existence. Just an idea...
can somebody explain to me this: if our universe is just a membrain, a buble floating in sea of universes, that is of membrains and was created from the impact of two such bubles, how it is that we didnt colided with another universe by now and what prevents that?
String Theory sounds good and it is the hottest thing going today. Every genius is glued to this theory. Can a computer program solve the theory in full? So far no, right?
If Michio asks himself how would God create the universe, would he not have to know God to know what he values? After all, if my cat were to create a universe, His priorities would be very different than if I were to create one. I'm not a religious person so I wouldn't presume to know how God would make a universe or what power He has to make one. If He was so powerful, He may not care if it's the 'easiest' way to make something. Just a thought :p
Well, if I was God, how would I create the universe? The answer would be as simple as possible. I would use the perfect shape to begin with, the sphere. With this shape I would compact energy into this sphere, but at the same time allow ernergy to come in and out in all directions by vibrating. I would than use this vibration to only accept what I needed to continue my vibrations. I would use different frequencies to change what I wanted to attract for myself in the universe.
I think its fun. Because when im with my friends they think; wow you are smart for a 17 year old person. You know almost every awnser to every question. And I know only a few persons who have this knowledge. Yet when I look at youtube. I realize I anything but unique in my thinking. Here on youtube you have people that are 14,15 years old. And I realize. Wow I. recognize sooo much, "they" are the kind.of thinkers I am.. Its amazing! One of "us" or we together WILL find this theory!
Here is a refeshing change in human mind. Instead of cover in fear of god fueled emotions, Claiming and ability that is almost god like is more useful for the progression of humanity.

Of course if we do discover this universe equation we can't get any technological improvements but we could finally have a better society by just vanishing every ignorant religion with the truth.
cocamaster0 2 months ago
@Zodiarkz the bigger the equation is the more likely it can be untrue. think of the surface area of a parachute, the bigger it is the more likely there will be a hole. In an equation as simple as E=MC2 it is analogousness to a simple structure in engineering or architecture. the simpler the better.
xXxXLoneWolf103XxXx 2 months ago
You know I've always wondered, what if the equation he's looking for isn't "one inch long"? What if it is complicated? If we had the final answer we were seeking, would we discard it simply because it wasn't elegant?

Makes me think that behind everything is physics and math
Then I think behind that further is psychology, our drive to learn about physics and math, and our drive to get on this life boat to a new universe, all because in our mind is the instinct to live

TheTarrMan 5 months ago
@TheTarrMan What you just said would be written somthing like what i'll write soon since what you describe is not equality but an inequality (or whatever it's called in english)
x; (meaning the position, or status or whatever of the matter)
0<x<∞, asuming it can't take a negative state. Theoreticaly wrong, and even if it was theoreticaly right you are still mathematicaly wrong :P
ffsboom 4 months ago
@ffsboom String theory comes from the experiments they did in particle accelerators. The results would change just because of the simple act of perception, (they put a camera to watch the results happen) as if the particles are in countless different spots at the same time only when no one is looking. The only thing saying “they are hear” is the viewer. So how does 0<x<∞ relate to what he, or I was talking about?
TheTarrMan 4 months ago
@TheTarrMan I know all of that, and it doesn't have anything to do with what he said. But you said infinite POSSIBILITIES (notice posibilities, not equality) and possible values are described like that in mathematics. Your 1 = (infinite) is WRONG, my 0 < x < (infinite) is certanly WRONG, however asuming that you would want to describe the possible places an object can be in you do write it like that, x being the objects position :) Actualy, you write it in another way but simplified :P
ffsboom 4 months ago
@TheTarrMan And as an engineer i have studied relativity and string theory my friend, in case you think i'm just blabbering...

@ffsboom I don't think your blabbering, sorry if I offended you. Hopelessly I think math/science hasn't evolved enough to explain the abnormalities.

I just had a thought. What if our universe is just the last in a line of universes created by the most advanced civilization in the one prior to ours, as a way to survive the death of it, or at least bring life a new chance? Just pure philosophical speculation, I know, but it still has lower odds than "god" as described in the bible.
Hopefulfilment 5 months ago
@Hopefulfilment Interesting, but would it necessarily be the last in line? wouldn't we possibly be able to create the "next" universe just like the people in the "previous" universe did? By "we" I mean the future, and hopefully more advanced, humans (or whatever we evolve into) currently occupying this universe.
rennotasil 5 months ago
@rennotasil Thats kind of what I meant. Maybe should have said "latest" instead. I don't give it a big chance to be true though, but maybe a 10 billion year old civilization would have the technology.

RandomCowProductions 6 months ago
Great video, brilliant man however I can't help but be confused. He wants a theory on everything but it has to be short? It has to be elegant? Unfortunately that may mean that if the answer is "ugly" he could ignore it? Didn't einstein make the same mistake in regards to dark matter?

A type 3 civilization to own their success to an inch long equation?
As he has said it, even nothing is unstable ... I would add that even everything is unstable and that even an inch long equation is unstable.
Because the rules of the universe tend to change depending on other (probably outside) factors.
A black hole created today may impact us for the future, everything impacts everything else, even an atom, even a star, even nothing impacts something and something impacts nothing.
TheUnkow 7 months ago
@TheUnkow God is a phenomenon that does not get impacted upon, but can make impact over nothing or something or everything. Phenomenon like that may or may not exist, we just have to understand the universe a lot more to answer that.
TheUnkow 7 months ago
Perhaps the universe or multiverse is just those positive against negative forces at work. positive is existence and the negative non-existence. Just an idea...

String Theory sounds good and it is the hottest thing going today. Every genius is glued to this theory. Can a computer program solve the theory in full? So far no, right?
Boogyman4050 7 months ago
If Michio asks himself how would God create the universe, would he not have to know God to know what he values? After all, if my cat were to create a universe, His priorities would be very different than if I were to create one. I'm not a religious person so I wouldn't presume to know how God would make a universe or what power He has to make one. If He was so powerful, He may not care if it's the 'easiest' way to make something. Just a thought :p
ctakitimu 7 months ago
@ctakitimu yes, thats what i was thinking as well. I like Michio, but he was exhibiting some flawed thinking, in my opinion...
piratelove38 5 months ago
Well, if I was God, how would I create the universe? The answer would be as simple as possible. I would use the perfect shape to begin with, the sphere. With this shape I would compact energy into this sphere, but at the same time allow ernergy to come in and out in all directions by vibrating. I would than use this vibration to only accept what I needed to continue my vibrations. I would use different frequencies to change what I wanted to attract for myself in the universe.
