  • Chris Wood is without doubt great bass player. Some people think that musician is good when play fast and make show off, and forget that bass line is a comping and counterpoint to melodists and is important part of sound of all band. It doesn't have to be busy, but it have to be createn with feeling, taste and great sense of time and rythm. Building grooving bass lines adequate to music tensions is very difficult and require maturity and restraint.

  • Sure Chris has an abstract solo on this song but I think it is sick. I would never down play his role in this band.

  • Is this from a DVD? Where did the uploader find it? Thanks!

  • @CreativeFilmMaker It is from TSI, the Ticino TV channel. (Ticino is the canton/region in which Lugano is located.) I'm guessing he/she just recorded it when it broadcast.

  • molto "uinteig!" :)

  • I feel compelled to post: I've never heard anyone say Chris is a weak link, and I have never pondered such thoughts.

  • Anyone who says Wood is a weak link is beyond help...that is utterly ridiculous...how can you even have a weak link in a jazz trio?

  • I saw Sco in Greenville and the next night in Atlanta. Atlanta was way better because of the crowd. I too was 3 feet from him at both shows. IT CHANGED MY LIFE! He has an incredible presence.

  • just love the vintage sound of the band, especially the p-bass.

i have to buy me one of those

  • great funky song...great band

    love the sco and co

  • Scofield is the king of playing "behind the beat."

  • ahhhhhhhh grooooooove

  • As a musician I can say that jazzy & jam kind of music takes time to develop and a band needs to get to that working temperature, it tkes a few songs for that to happen. I dont think Scofield is ruining this one. They just have fun & enjoy what they do best. MSM&W are one of my favorite combinations in jazzy soul groove tning! Sco is one of the blousiest jazz players I have heard, his not into overplaying scales and changes... So tastefull!

  • You evidently have never seen the man live. I saw him on two occasions in a small club. I stood 3 feet from him and watched him all night long. The greatest jazz guitarist of our time.

  • dude anyone who thinks chris wood is the weak link, fast forward to 3:10 and listen solely to him until 3:30

no more shall be said of this matter

  • Sauced.

  • @Spacmanspiff just listen to practically anything he ever recorded...

  • @Spacmanspiff just listen to practically anything he ever recorded...

  • @Spacmanspiff do people actually say that?

  • @Spacmanspiff LOL "Uncultured Swine" obviously missed part 2

  • Random thought alert!

I think Frank Zappa would have really loved MSMW. Just throwing that out there...

  • ever tried yellow snow? it's not that bad :)

  • Is this video not working for anyone else?

  • John, Its God, the best...

  • fuck men i want this only on audio to put into my ipod

  • Download Youtube Downloader. All you have to do is put the website link of the video you want audio of, and it transfers it for you. Free too.

  • Scofield = creative phrasing

  • thanks for posting this!

  • billy martin is sick nasty yo

  • Funk solid.

  • Yeah what is the name of this DVD ? and is it available to buy anywhere?

  • i would like to know the exact same thing...

  • Second that question.

  • chris wood is an awesome bassist! he sapports the tune!

  • Mr. Wood is always tame, but I guess that's ok when you have illy b and medeski in the group. I've never been impressed with wood, I always thought he was the weak link. He plays on a go go though so he can't be that bad. I would love to own this vid.

  • i like it better that way, i dont like those pretentious jazz bass players that solo in the middle of the song and bring the whole thng down, maybe its the nature of the instrument to provide a solid supporting link bettwen the rythm section and the more melodic sounds.

  • I respectfully disagree. I really enjoy Chris Wood's solos, but I do admit, until you get an ear for what he's going for, it can sound pretty out there!

  • I'm not really criticizing Chris' performance, I just have a pet peeve with wonky sounding acoustic bass solos.

  • Yeah, it's kind of an acquired taste. . .

  • wood hits the spot, low profile, but he´s where hes supposed to be. hats of to mmw, just saw them live, insane first experience.

  • agreed.....rothbury mmw, and all good msmw two of last summers top shows behind radiohead

  • Rather tame solo for Mr. Wood...

  • ha, its brick! brick tamland!

  • What??!!

  • Hahahhaha. What? Why?

  • Can someone tell me the name of this video? Is it available for purchase?

  • Sound and video are great. Just looks like the 16:9 aspect ratio got squished into 2.35:1

  • Why hasn't MSM&W released a live album??

  • They have: a limited-edition version of their album 'Out Louder' includes a Live CD.

  • So Good!!!!!

  • Great line up and chemestry

  • That's damn sweet! Really good footage. «La vraie qualité.»

  • Thank you soooooooooooooooooo much for posting this vid. I just can't stop dancing with that groove dude!!!!
