  • beautiful!! :)

  • Just a note, It Is Alan Parsons, Not APP. Project was title of his first album. same as CCR, The first album was revival. Funny how things stick,

  • @winnarizona No. This song is in "Stereotomy", by The Alan Parsons Project. After "Stereotomy" the Project made "Gaudì", and then they split up.

  • @cldbrks Never said what album song was from, yes it is from stereotomy. I was saying That Alan Parsons is Alan Parsons not Alan Parsons Project. People call the band Alan Parsons Project and that is a missconception. Because the first album was called Project. alot of listings on here say the same thing. The band is Alan Parsons, not Alan Parsons Project. I was just saying something that does not matter.

  • @winnarizona I stand corrected, sometimes they do go by APP. My bad.

  • @winnarizona No, my friend: the band was The Alan Parsons Project. They started with Tales of Mystery And Imagination Edgard Allan Poe (not "Project"), and the last work was Gaudì. The band was Alan Parsons and Eric Wolfsons, and they worked together as "The Alan Parsons Project". After Gaudì, they split up, and Alan's new band was Alan Parsons Band.

  • @winnarizona Outstanding job on the video, Looks like it was done by Alan Parsons.

  • @winnarizona Wait, wait? Are you saying it was Alan Parsons Project for just ONE album and only Alan Parsons after that??? I'm pretty sure that's not true!

  • @jahaantarbiat Not true. I'm looking at my CD's now. The Alan Parson's Project until after Gaudi.

  • ...stupenda!♥♫ ♥♫

  • suonatela al mio funerale!!

  • one of the best vocals in Alan Parsons Proyect. Lenny Zakatec was the other one!!!

  • Rush's limelight is 100000000 times better

  • @YardApes00 better? who's the original composer?

  • beautiful ...

  • frekin sweet!

  • super bedankt ,johanna

  • Gary Brooker !

  • Come dice Skyla magnifica ti fa sognare

  • magnifica

  • i like both song and charlie chaplin!

  • Great video to this awesome song. I know that a lot of people have criticized Stereotomy for being to "sterile" and perfect, but this was the intention - no noise and perfectly sounding music. "Limelight" shines above it with beautiful arrangement and fantastic vocals of Gary Brooker .I always wondered , how would this song sound if it was performed by Procol Harum. This is a beautiful song and your video was just made for it....like it belongs.Wonderful job.Thank you for sharing.

  • music is the biggest part of my life and my dad is my drinking buddy/best friend yet he hates music. this is the only song i will ever catch him listening too its his favourite and he play it when he's feeling down. i now do the same after checking it out. Great song.

  • Alan Parsons always puts out amazing songs. Listen to the three chords on the words

'all be...gan' it's a grand three chords and injects glory into the words. And the singer puts so much feeling into the words.

  • Tudo lindo!!! Musica, letra e clip!!!

  • LMAO Hi! Here's our great big snare drum! In case you can't hear it,we'll turn it up REALLY LOUD!

  • One of my fav APP numbers. Having been in the limelight a bit myself, this tune resonates with me.

  • Think the lead vocal on this is Gary Brooker

  • Really well done. Great music & clip.

  • harppo

  • superb combination of ap music, cc expressive imaging and you combining both, bravo!

  • I know it's a year too late, but I think this song has *everything* to do with Charlie Chaplin. Or *any* other performer who has had a rough time reaching the pinnacles of their careers. It makes sense. *Perfect* sense to me.

  • This song always reminds me why I became a professional musician.

  • very good effort .....

  • Brilliant combo. Thanks!

  • This song says what I always wanted . . . and never reached. It used to inspire me.

  • Well done!

  • runtowards the "limelight"

    !!!!!!!!!!

  • awesome song

  • The connection between this song, and the old Charlie Chaplin, is nothing less than genious, thank you for this movue :-))

  • I can't understand how people don't see the connection between the video and the song. to me they fit like a pair of gloves.

  • well done nice job , very enjoyable,

    Grande ...Ottimo Lavoro.... ^:^

  • This isnt rush? wtf...

  • @MrRush1974 two different songs with the same title and both classics i wonder how often that has happened in rock/pop history

  • Wonderful job! Great song too.

  • @macatan62

    El disco es Stereotomy

  • Great Job!!! Thank you.

  • Un sogno

  • great song...

  • geweldig mooi nummer

  • @XiSn1PeDx Goeie muzieksmaak heb jij joh ;)

  • Excellent job putting the two together, cldbrks!

  • Imagine how great this song would sound with B3 and real drums.

Know what? I'm gonna find out...

    I'll get back to y'all...

  • Wow! That's the Procol Harum vocal!

  • uitstekend gedaan !!!

  • Fits perfectly!!! Amazing job you've done there. One of my favorite APP songs, now it has a great video clip as well. bravo!!!!!!

  • cldbrks I think you did a great job it fits well have always like this song and this is a nice arrangement

  • I love this song but what the hell does it have to do with Charlie CHaplin?

  • Simply, Charles Chaplin made a movie called "Limelight", and I used this movie.

  • @cldbrks

And you made a fantastaic video! One of the most beautifull songs from Alan Parsons, in my opinion together with this great man. Thank you for sharing

  • @cldbrks I think the video works great with the tune. I play this clip at least once a week.

  • @cldbrks I think it's a great video and it has ben the one I post on my myspace...I love it!

  • @cldbrks

I love it - I'm amazed by Gary Brooker and then I am a huge fan of this movie. Well done!

  • Cause it fits!

    Lyrics... think

    Present past and the future...

  • @misplacednewyawker The 'limeligth' he was in !

  • @misplacednewyawker ... noithing... so shut up....

  • @misplacednewyawker That main guy in this video IS Charlie Chaplin. Though a Charlie that is growing very old.

  • @misplacednewyawker

Charlie had a rough career....had the limelight and then it slipped away....artist call in life....to get to that *Limelight*....

  • great job !

    absolutely beautiful !

    Thanks for sharing it

  • Beautiful work! I think it lacks a change of atmosphere during the refrain: anyway, the combo is brilliant!

  • It is like corn. I love the yellow, sweet and bountiful crop produced by most farmers.

It was not always yellow, sweet and bountiful. Hybridization made it into something greater than the two original strains. People grew to embrace the combination.

Some will never like the 'new' corn.

Good thing we have each of the old strains.

  • I didn't want to make a soundtrack for Chaplin's movie. I tryed to make a clip using this song, Limelight, and some images from a Chaplin's masterpiece, Limelight. That's all.

  • Good job. Thank you.

  • @cldbrks Your video is pure genius. Thank you.

  • @cldbrks you did a great job my friend....kudos to you for your effort.love APP by the way.

  • @bobubai personally I appreciate this video, especially for the combination of images and music!!!

  • @angelodellabrughiera no kidding, I agree... I remember when songs didn't even require video . But in this case, it's like cake underneath the icing...

  • @upthcreek I "suspect" this song was actually inspired form the Chaplin's film! :-)))

  • @bobubai didn't want to admit it at first, but you're right...

  • @bobubai agreed

  • @bobubai will u ever, reach deep... and reconsider your thoughtless post.... I did... this "poster" did somthing creative.... and positive.... and u pissed on it.... shame on u...

  • @bobubai u contradict urself, with ur post

  • Great song! This is an awesome compilation.

  • Maybe I've been mistaken, but this voice associates me with Gary Brooker from Procol Harum, but I don't remember, that Gary sung with Alan Parsons. Maybe it's once accident (it seems to me I've heard this voice on some APP songs ;)).

  • Wiki says it was Brooker, but who's to say? Good ear anyway.

  • More importantly, the liner notes of Stereotomy, the album from which this song comes, say it's Gary Brooker.

  • This absolutely is Gary Brooker.

  • Yes, Mr. Gary Brooker is singing.

  • very good.. compliments :)

  • Great combination, the music and film!

    I really enjoyed it!!!

  • Chaplin is the best filmaker ever.Great, great song.Thank you for the video!

  • this is an awesome compilation ... great job! 2 totally different yet so much the same ...

  • The best song ever!!

  • Thanks for contrasting "Limelight" with Charlie Chaplin and the APP. One a movie, the other a song...generations apart, yet similar.

  • who knows about that videoclip??..is it a movie or what??

  • these are different scenes of the movie Limelight by Charles Chaplin

  • This song sums my whole life!

  • my gosh, this is truly some music, just listen to it, you cannot be tired of it.

  • what a beautiful song!

  • Thank you for the post. I just love this music. Even after 30 years. I still get lost in the music and the lyrics.

  • I've been 8 or 9 years old when my big brother first played a Long Player of APP for me - since then I didn't ever forget one of all these great Songs of the Project - This one is one of the best - simple but powerful! THX 2 my big Bro for he has opened my heart for any kind of music - especialy for APP... Hate 'em or love 'em - there is nothing between!

  • This kinda puts me in mind of early Genesis before phil.great stuff!

  • When I listen to this music, I cry .

    ・゚・(ノД`)・゚・。

  • When I was a kid, I remember my mom playing a live greatest hits concert cd of the Alan Parsons Project, with this song on it, and right now is actually the first time I've heard this version... I love them both, although because I've listened to the live version for years this is a little different! ^^;

  • Great Song. Good interpretation via video! Good job..... Thanks for sharing.

  • Bravo, well done!

  • so wonderful clip and group

    kisses from france..

  • I'm 16 and i love nomadi, beatles, bob dylan, simon&garfunkel...but i like beach boys and alan parsons too...

  • This song is awesome . Ultimate song for the underdog , the washed up and just total loser. This song is a message of hope . Despite its eerie tone this song is perhaps the ultimate uplifting song .

  • When listening to Stereotomy, the song that follows this one is perfect (Real World). Never, ever play Parsons or Pink Floyd on the random setting. Sacrilege!!!

    bye bye!

  • uuhhhh it´s goooood

  • yeahhh, Cliver interpretation of yours!!!!!

  • Beautiful

  • Fantastic combination of sound and vision. The black and white footage fits in very well, and adds a certain sadness.

  • Please put the original movie,,,no editing no sound track,,,,Chaplin does not need anything to be owesome!

  • best song

  • Amazing.. im stunned

    best song ever!

  • Nicely done. I happen to have seen this treasure of a movie, "Limelight" on Turner Classic Movies a week or so ago. WONDERFUL film! Nice song you added to your clips!

    JM

  • The lead singer, i believe, is Gary Brooker (Aust), as of procul harem fame. what a guy!

  • You were ALL i ever wanted...

    Telling the world...

    who I am

  • Wonderful! 5*!

  • A fantastic APP track. Stereotomy was not one of their best but thankfully this track saved it. Do you know the guy who sang this, Gary Brooker, also was the man behind "The Whiter Shade Of Pale". He was the Procul Harem front man. Thanks for sharing

  • Best ever RIP Charlie

  • troppo bella:-)

  • nice song!!!

  • Ian Bairnson on guitar is the very best guitarist in the world. His melodies are just unbelievable!

  • I agree. I love the classic Bairnson sound on this track. Wicked!!!

  • I enjoyed this very much. YEs, some of the 80's stuff was cheesy synthesized music, but some of it was just plain great music like this. What happned to music in the 90's? Why did every singer sound like a BEAR was trying to sing? Example: I am I am I am,, I wanna get next to you!!! OR Jeremy something,,blah blah blah. Worse than a root canal. Long live the 80's!!

  • music is when you grew up. you grew up in the 80s, thats obvious. so of course youll hate 90s music. cuz it was different. thats called aging! i was lucky enough to grow up in the 80s and 90s. i can relate to great songs like this, AND early 90s "bear" songs, like pearl jam, as you so mentioned. i am at the point tho where todays music just sucks. IMO. its all crying, blame parents, emo crap. you see how the decades change? ask a 15yr old about music. he will tell ya your stuff sucks.

  • So right you are!

  • I disagree with that, airThief. I was born 17 years ago and I can't stand todays music. Instead, I'd rather listen to The Alan Parsons Project (my favourite band), Queen, Steppenwolf, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones (I even know there's an irony in liking both TRS and The Beatles). I never liked The Vengaboys (which was rather populair a few years ago), crappy emo-bands (there are a lot lately) etc. I just refuse to listen to todays music. So I'm sorry mate, but you're wrong.

  • I was speaking generally.

  • not many 15 yr olds like older music, but i'm 15 and i love the alan parsons project, pink floyd, eros ramazotti and so on... it's just a matter of taste, not age...

  • in 14, i ONLY like older music. Rap, Hip-Hop and modern rock plain old suck! The Who, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Boston, Chicago all great bands (and RUSH (Rush wrote this song)

  • Rush did not write THIS song, another Limelight tho, look it up.

  • Well, Rush actually didn't write this song..............it's just the same title. Both "Limelight"s are awesome, though!

  • genial

    jou

  • I can't get used to this version of the song. I first heard the live version with Chris Thompson and Chris' version is superior IMO.

    Cool vid though.

    :)

  • love it!!!

  • Super estasiato!!!

    Grazie,

    sal

  • Beautiful song, many thanks for uploading :-)

  • ...am dreaming ....

  • Noone does poignant like the APP. No one.

  • Excellent video! Thanks!

  • very nice, thanks

  • Good song, and a great video accompaniment. Well thought.

  • Fuz itzhye ur und muziken gothen. Full.

  • Gary Brooker from Procul Harum does an icredible vocal

  • Hey cldbrks, that was awesome! It's great to see someone on YouTube with actual editing skills.

  • Alan Parsons is awesome

When I heard this song I thought some circus person who is walking on the tight rope

  • A great film, a great song.

  • Best I love Alan Parsons Project

  • Nicely done!

  • can anyone send me the original song pls ?

  • Please, tell me exactly what you need, and I try to help you...

  • amazingly awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ...è stupenda !!

  • i've tried everywhere to get this song i love it so much x

  • It's on at least two albums - Limelight and Sterotomy

  • NBC used this song in a tribute video right after the Mets won the series in 86.

  • Yes it's true,I have that on tape, and then NBC used a sad Kenny Rogers song for the REd Sox who lost!!!

  • One of my FAVS.

    Great to see it here.

    AP is sooo cool.

    Recording engineer genius!
