  • don't focus on being terms. you aren't "being sad" or being anything. that is not acting because it's not active. you need to create a change in your listener

  • raise the stakes. a lot. what is your objective? who are you talking to and what is your relationship with them? think about the meaning of the words that you are saying and how harper would actually feel about them. where is your moment before and what are your obstacles throughout the scene?

  • this is good, we have a similar sense of the character i think. Harper is a difficult part to play i think. im having a difficult time with the physicality (im not sure if thats the word, i just mean how to move/walk/hold myself etc) of this character especially for this scene with mr lies, if anyone has any recommendations feel free to help me out

  • @1901Boston I was too full of smiles. I did this on stage at oregon state, and i was much more morose and upset, with a glazed sense of self at all times. She is a delicate character to portray, and to balance that sense of insanity and extreme sense of reality is a hard balance to achieve for sure :)

  • Nice. I wish I could express myself as beautifully as Kushner's characters.

  • @DrivingonSepulveda Kushner is such a fantastic playwright. I wish I could do more of his work :) Thank you btw

  • @marinawha thank you soo much!

  • woowww really good

  • @theofficefan731 Thank you! I love Tony Kushner :)

  • Not bad. I'm working on one of Harper's monologues right now too.

I think you've got the characterization down, however you don't seem like you're very deeply connected to it.

A good piece, and in the right direction though!

  • @SabinaTak yah haha im always smiling. that was one thing that the director that I was acting under told me to not be so happy! haha! I'll work on the sadness :)
