hey men, i have a p7p55-m mobo, it supports 2200 memory, now i have a core i3 540, and im thinking it in upgrade to a core i5 2500, however, i can get a trade with a friend, and get this processor, the question is, do you think the i5 750 OC, can get closer to the i5 2500 at gaming?
@FellTheSky for oen you can't compare the i5 sandy bridge processors against the Lynfield processors (switch lacks PCI express lanes support) the i5 2500 is a much better processor and faster but 15%
@gustavopipito Yes it possible but do note, that please beware that intel motherboard are not like aftermarket motherboard, You may or may not have a limitations
I also wanna overlock my i5 750 (2.67ghz) processor. I have 4gb ddr3, windows 7 32 bit, Motherboard: P55-UD3 and a normal stock fan for my CPU i think, will replace it with a proper one before overclocking though, what should i set all the settings to, i wanna overclock it to atleast 3.00ghz preferably if possible, more. How do i do it?
i was wondering, im running a core i5 750 at 3.3ghz and if i wanted to make it 3.5 or 3.6 do i have to change everything or just change too 170mhz or 175mhz with same settings?
Will this overheat my computer? ~ Just curious.... also if you could help me.... I have 3 LED fans ~ one under power supply ( in back ) 2 on sides ...... And my computer will go to 60-70C (if i over clock it with Easy Tune6 to the green one which for me is: 2.8Ghz by runing game with lowest resolution and it still does. Itll make the game very slow and shit.... idk how to fix this?? And does that mean that way will also overheat it? Thanks for reply :)
@wungfu12 Sorry but manual is and always have been the best option in O.C the system. Now for heat issues< well now if you have a good CPU cooler and it works well(and I am not talking about a stock Intel cooler) aftermarket CPU cooler are the best for overclocking in this stage. Please be ensure that you will either see a temp increase with the Voltage for the CPU has to increase for stability but with an aftermarket CPU cooler it will work just fine. Just follow the sets and no short cuts, Ok
Hi I want to overclock my CPU (2.66GHZ I5-750). I want to get to 3.4 Ghz. I bought the Arctic Cooling Freezer 13 heatsink. My setup: ATI 6950 2GB, 4 GB DDR3 1333 (Corsair), I5-750 2.66, Corsair GS600 (PSU) (+12 V = 48A).
I want to know how should I set the BIOS parameters. Thanks for your time.
@Crysis2ful if you want this video on a video I will post here, look for it. it will show you how to set your base clock and block frequency to where you will like it. 3.4 is about 155 or 158 base block frequencies and make sure you enable tthe load Calibration for the voltages
@deviljnk there is software out there but its not recommended as the settings in the bios might not be 100% accurate to how they should be.. stick to the old fashion way.

@rsetiono First and foremost that you are very much over voltage right now. On top of that you are mostly not using watercooling. everything is too high for the setting you have provided me here. Default and never go over 1.4v (or less you watercooling)
QPI/VTT is ony should be at 1.25-1.30v
on top the the CPU voltages 1.35v should be enough for 4.0GHz
listen I have another video here that will should you how to overclocking the right way but you must listen and understand.
@FingerTech But yes true but is the MHz is higher than 1600Mhz , Like I have G.Skill Trident Extreme Performance 2000MHz Gaming RAM at 9-9-9-27, I have better FPS and faster, look at my updated video posted on 3D Mark score video I have posted
I havw my i5 750 running at 3 Ghz with at 150x20 and i increased the voltage by one step from 1.21 to 1.28 or something simular. Do you think ill be ok.My temps at 100% load are 55 C*.And ill probably want to go to 3.2 or 3.5 Ghz soon.I just never am sure how much voltage to add.
@IrishTopgun12 You're using the stock heatsink are you? at 3GHz at 1.28 is too much. Might want to think about replacing that stock heatsink that is if you are using it.
@keiki646 Im using a Scythe Yasya (if you dont know it its about as good as the Mugen 2).Id like to have sevral Bios Profiles with different steps of an OC. So
Profile 1 : 3 GHz (150x20) @ 1.25v (ive lowered it to 1.25 do you tink i need more/less?)
Profile 2: 3.3GHz (166x20) @ 1.26v (ok? +/-?)
Profile 3: 3.675 GHz (175x21) @ 1.275v (is the voltage ok?and is it ok to set multiplier to 21?)
@IrishTopgun12 Now in this case I would used the 3.3GHz setting for 24 hours and do a Prime95 test for more than 12 hours and a memtest86 for about 16 hours to make sure there is a stable system.
@keiki646 Ok ive run Prime95 with no errors and temps were never over 64°C.
now i wanted to get the 3.66 GHz Profile done,so i set multiplier to x20 and Base Clock to 180.But when im in Windows CPU-Z(and CoreTemp) shows that im at 3.8 GHz with a multiplier of 21 eaven tho i set it to 20. (voltage @ 1.27v)
@IrishTopgun12 Make sure that you have a few thing disabled in the BIOS like Turbo Boost, EIST, with the 21X multiplier - the turbo boost will automatic enabled itself so it's will be best to sure 20x and to adjust the Memory MHz settings too
@IrishTopgun12 really why is that CPU-Z shows you what you have change in setup up the BIOS at an 21x Multiplier. When you are using the 21x Multipler you enable turbo boost. The system shows that but whatever programs that you are using it will always using 3.67 or 3.66GHz. Turbo Boost is when the software or program that you are using at the time needs a little help and that is when Turbo Boost comes in
@combatkirbyh that's because one cpu is diferente from the other. I have a i5 750 at 4.0GHZ with a voltage of 1.24, on air, and some cpu's don't do the 4GHz in less then 1.3.
as to the vcore, just keep giving more untill it gets stable
man great tutorial. I copied exactly step-by-step and just wondering, in cpu-z, my Memory Channel #: is Single when it suppose to be Dual channel ddr3 memory?
your voltages are vcore 1.20000V qpi/vtt 1.150v PCH 1.050 CPU PLL 1.800V i dont get these numbers CPU Vcore 1.2000V - 1.2500V QPI/VTT is at 1.1500V - 1.2000v PCH Core 1.050V - 1.230v CPU PLL 1.800V - 1.860V - 1.880v you put 1.2000V to vocre not 1.25000
So the stock frequency is at 3.675 GHz correct? That would put the turbo boost somewhere in the neighborhood of 4 GHz right? That's impressive.
However you did have to disable all of the power saving features. The i5 750 is awesome with its power efficiency. I would have left all of those features on and just gone for a 3-3.2 GHz stock clock with turbo on. But that's just my personal preference.
Cool video by the way. Are you planning on overclocking your RAM timings?
@keiki646 You don't seem to realize what I'm saying. In the video title, and in the description, it says 3675.03 GHZ, or gigahertz. People with your chip have been able to reliably get to speeds of 3670 MHZ, or megahertz, a gigahert is 1000 megahertz.
@caltake1 Do me one thing and please quit while you're ahead right now. Everyone here knows that it's at a clock ratio of 3675MHz. Why are you adding words to my sentences and mouth. You're the only one here making a fool of yourself right about now but causing troublesome feedback that everyone is aware of.
@imthentertainer Let me tell you another thing about computer information like this. You have Gateway computer that has a low end Intel motherboard. This video is for Gigabyte Aftermarket Motherboards. You system will not even have an Overclock menu in your BIOS.
@eliran1 MSI afterburner is the program to overclock the GPU Core and Memory Clock pass it's limited but the 4870 was a RV700 artitech GPU so I am not fully sure if it works with 4850 card but I am sure enough to know it does work on 5000 series cards. But just use the ATI driver call CCC to overclock it
hi, this might be a stupid question, i dont know much abt bios & their settings, just how 2 change boot order. I never touch the other settings, but i want 2
I have the new GA-H57M-USB3, i5 750/2.66Ghz/8MB/LGA1156, 4GB DDR3 1333Mhz.
Will this video work for the new GA-H57M-USB3 motherboard?
@eliran1@eliran1 For one GA H57 mobo are difference from P55 Mobo's so you need to find out that information yourself, but if you want to change a boot order like for Hard drives then you will need to go into integrated Peripheral in the BIOS
@Crysis2ful Are you even paying an attention to the video. Advance CPU Core Feature will have Turbo Boost, Enable is Active and Disable is Deactive, Next time pay close attention because the answer is right in front of you
@xfm766 Ok if you were just viewing this video you can clearly see when you overclock the CPU you can see the Memory Multiplier change as you overclock for the Base Clock.
thanks for the clip but im having problems reading some of the numbers too. the video is a little blocky and i cant tell the diff between 0's and 8's the numbers are hard to read. I am looking to do this on my i5 750 too but as a first timer i dont want to put the wrong numbers in. Can i ask you to clarify some of the figrues i cant read please?
@IHunger4Battle1 This is for Only Intel i5 Quad Core, In the last 3 weeks I have build 3 Intel i5 Quad Core Gaming RIG's, One for my friend KOU and the two others were clients that ask me if I can help them and the system for overclocking I did the same and I have Prime95 all three system and memtest86 and no errors
@keiki646 I understand that bud, but if someone has a bad batch of CPU, they could overheat and burn up their chip...I just think you should strongly urge people to overclock gradually rather than going full bore and ruining a great chip.
one client wanted me to overclock it to 4.0Ghz and just told him the truth that it would be recommended that I would like to overclock the system to at lease 3.4Ghz. After explaining to him everything about airflow of the case and etc, she thought it would me good that I would overclock his system at a nice overclock ratio. So his temps are in the mid 30's to Late 30"s on idle, full load is low 50 's and late 40"s. (his case is a antec 900

@IrishTopgun12 Make sure that you have a few thing disabled in the BIOS like Turbo Boost, EIST, with the 21X multiplier - the turbo boost will automatic enabled itself so it's will be best to sure 20x and to adjust the Memory MHz settings too
keiki646 1 year ago
@IrishTopgun12 keep note that this are the things that needs to be disabled, Turbo Boost (Make sure you sure a 20x Multiplier)
Turbo Boost - Disabled
CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E) Disabled
C3/C6/C7 State Support - Disabled
CPU EIST Function - Disabled
Not sure what Ram you have 1600MHz or 1333MHz
But make sure you so some adjustments To the system Memory Multplier (SPD)
I will make another video in a few minutes to explain why
keiki646 1 year ago
@keiki646 I have all these settings disabled except C3/C6/C7 Support.

@IrishTopgun12 really why is that CPU-Z shows you what you have change in setup up the BIOS at an 21x Multiplier. When you are using the 21x Multipler you enable turbo boost. Turbo Boost is when the software or program that you are using at the time needs a little help and that is when Turbo Boost comes in

@combatkirbyh that's because one cpu is diferente from the other. I have a i5 750 at 4.0GHZ with a voltage of 1.24, on air, and some cpu's don't do the 4GHz in less then 1.3.
as to the vcore, just keep giving more untill it gets stable

i have a i5 750 and is overclocked to 4.1 ghz on air with a asrock motherboard.. and this thing is fast.

What is the sweet spot for retaining stock voltages with this setup ?
... or is it 3675 ?

why did you switch off virtualization? Just a precaution or does it not work when oc'ed
700gsteak 1 year ago
@700gsteak Yes and NO, there is no need for the Virtualization
keiki646 1 year ago
So the stock frequency is at 3.675 GHz correct? That would put the turbo boost somewhere in the neighborhood of 4 GHz right? That's impressive.
However you did have to disable all of the power saving features. The i5 750 is awesome with its power efficiency. I would have left all of those features on and just gone for a 3-3.2 GHz stock clock with turbo on. But that's just my personal preference.
Cool video by the way. Are you planning on overclocking your RAM timings?

hi mate
i have a gigabyte p55 ud6 and 2400 ram and a i5 750 was wondering how to overclock seeing as the ram speed is only 7 7 7 18
thevlaka 1 year ago
Hello.
thanks for the instructions but i tried this settings and just after booting windows 7 64x i get a blue screen of death...
setup is
Core i5 750
mugen 2
Gigabyte p55a-ud3
Team Elite 4GB DDR3-1333
coolermaster real power m520
do you have any suggestions why this fails?

It seems your CPU is 1000x faster than any other i5... Most people only get theirs up to 3675 MEGAHERTZ.
caltake1 1 year ago
@caltake1 @caltake1 well I have mine at 4.2Ghz the link to my updated video as of May 22,2010 is in the information box above
keiki646 1 year ago
@keiki646 You don't seem to realize what I'm saying. In the video title, and in the description, it says 3675.03 GHZ, or gigahertz. People with your chip have been able to reliably get to speeds of 3670 MHZ, or megahertz, a gigahert is 1000 megahertz.
caltake1 1 year ago
@caltake1 I did understood what you were saying. Yes people with an Intel i5 750 with a gigabyte motherboard are able to reliably get 3.6Ghz
keiki646 1 year ago
@keiki646 You still seam to insist that your rig can operate at 1000 times that.
caltake1 1 year ago
@caltake1 Do me one thing and please quit while you're ahead right now. Everyone here knows that it's at a clock ratio of 3675MHz. Why are you adding words to my sentences and mouth. You're the only one here making a fool of yourself right about now but causing troublesome feedback that everyone is aware of.

@imthentertainer Let me tell you another thing about computer information like this. You have Gateway computer that has a low end Intel motherboard. This video is for Gigabyte Aftermarket Motherboards. You system will not even have an Overclock menu in your BIOS.

Another stupid question, will this work (nothing over clocked), if i use both different types of MHz RAM, example: 2Ghz 1333MHz and 2Ghz 1600Mhz?
if works, if i over clock my computer, do i have to configure each ram slot differently?
and 1 last question :s, i heard it is possible to overclock my video card "ASUS EAH4850 512 MB DDR3", is that true?
eliran1 1 year ago
@eliran1 MSI afterburner is the program to overclock the GPU Core and Memory Clock pass it's limited but the 4870 was a RV700 artitech GPU so I am not fully sure if it works with 4850 card but I am sure enough to know it does work on 5000 series cards. But just use the ATI driver call CCC to overclock it
keiki646 1 year ago
hi, this might be a stupid question, i dont know much abt bios & their settings, just how 2 change boot order. I never touch the other settings, but i want 2
I have the new GA-H57M-USB3, i5 750/2.66Ghz/8MB/LGA1156, 4GB DDR3 1333Mhz.
Will this video work for the new GA-H57M-USB3 motherboard?
eliran1 1 year ago
@eliran1 @eliran1 For one GA H57 mobo are difference from P55 Mobo's so you need to find out that information yourself, but if you want to change a boot order like for Hard drives then you will need to go into integrated Peripheral in the BIOS

For those that can't read the numbers
CPU Vcore 1.2000V
QPI/VTT is at 1.1500V
PCH Core 1.050V
CPU PLL 1.800V
DRAM (if 1333MHz overlock to 1400Mhz set voltage to 1.64Mhz)
DRAM (if 1600Mhz overlock to 1700MHz set votlage to 1.64V
If not overclocked then set it to 1.56oVoltages

thanks for this mate. I appreciate your assistance.
do i need to overclock the RAM?
Im only new to this and have read a few articles and seen a few youtube vids but everyone seems to have a different method.
xfm766 1 year ago
@xfm766 Ok if you were just viewing this video you can clearly see when you overclock the CPU you can see the Memory Multiplier change as you overclock for the Base Clock.
keiki646 1 year ago
thanks for the clip but im having problems reading some of the numbers too. the video is a little blocky and i cant tell the diff between 0's and 8's the numbers are hard to read. I am looking to do this on my i5 750 too but as a first timer i dont want to put the wrong numbers in. Can i ask you to clarify some of the figrues i cant read please?
xfm766 1 year ago
@xfm766 In the more Info I wrote down the Voltages
CPU Vcore 1.2000V
QPI/VTT 1.150
PCH 1.05 or 1.10
PLL 1.800

It might be a perfect BIOS overclock for YOUR CPU, but every CPU is different and won't overclock the exact same way. 5/5 either way.

@IHunger4Battle1 This is for Only Intel i5 Quad Core, In the last 3 weeks I have build 3 Intel i5 Quad Core Gaming RIG's, One for my friend KOU and the two others were clients that ask me if I can help them and the system for overclocking I did the same and I have Prime95 all three system and memtest86 and no errors
keiki646 1 year ago
@keiki646 I understand that bud, but if someone has a bad batch of CPU, they could overheat and burn up their chip...I just think you should strongly urge people to overclock gradually rather than going full bore and ruining a great chip.
IHunger4Battle1 1 year ago
Oh I've fully understand what you are saying.
one client wanted me to overclock it to 4.0Ghz and just told him the truth that it would be recommended that I would like to overclock the system to at lease 3.4Ghz. After explaining to him everything about airflow of the case and etc, she thought it would me good that I would overclock his system at a nice overclock ratio. So his temps are in the mid 30's to Late 30"s on idle, full load is low 50 's and late 40"s. (his case is a antec 900
