  • What a nice guy, I like his approach and there are a number of ways he reminds me of Valerie Fedorenko. Affable, humble, honest and funny, this is a great post and to see such an elite athlete train this candidly is gold.

  • ok now lets warmup with 10000000 pounds lol :)

he reminds me of biggie smalls which makes him look even cooler to me :)

  • Thats a heavy ass bench im up to 340 and i weight 176

  • @joeyp106 Thats cool

  • @joeyp106 prove it

  • Thankyou very much!

  • I wonder if he says "another warmup" between sets to psyche himself up and keep him thinking it's easier than it really is? Beast of a lifter. His first set is my max working set lol.

  • It's great seeing someone doing a "heavy" workout and enjopying it, without a bench shirt and 6 guys having to massage his ego. Just from the video clips it seems he has the ability, and the personality to go with it. And the comments he comes up with, makes for a fun and enjoyable workout atmosphere...all with being a very serious lifter. Keep up the good work, and GET OUT OF THE WAY!!!

  • you know, i used to think that humans didnt deserve being the most powerful beings on the planet just becuase were smarter, but watching this and jake sincity makes me feel like thats wrong. ID LIKE TO SEE ANYTHING ELSE ON THIS PLANET BEND STEEL LIKE TRUE MEN CAN! >:DDDDD

  • Love that he thanks his spotter every set.

    Gentle giant.

  • wow i cant even max 315 :( this guys a nut and makes everything look so easy

  • he benches more than my deadlift as a warmup :(

  • hahaha 315 just another little warm up....wow!

  • Comment removed

  • Good thing he is such a nice guy. With the wrong mindset he could be a real scary dude.

  • "thank you very much" at the begining of every set, ballin!

  • The day I warm up on 225...

  • What's henderson's overhead press?

  • you have badminton on your channel so i wont even bother with u Lulz!

  • What I really like about this guy is that he keeps things incredibly simple. No fancy bullshit here.

  • This dude inspires the fuck out of me! 500 pounds and we have the same name? What a bad ass.

  • " i been building a power house, let me show it to you" - the shirtless sheriff, the bench wonder of the world.

  • im a varsity football player and he benched my wieght as a warmup

  • Wow, a dude that benches heavy, with good form, WITHOUT an ego. Such a rare specimen.

  • "Thank you very much...now get outta the way!"

    LOL

  • if i could hold 180kg across my chest and then press it back up with ease.........I would be a made man

  • im mad he hits 315 like i hit 135 and hits 405 like i hit 225....he a fuckin beast

  • "nothin macho about what im doin" damn this guys humble

  • see Im a monster

  • What's a bench shirt?

  • @ATRnotalone Its not much of a shirt its this thing thats goes across your chest and behind each elbow. Google it for a pic its hard to explain. Think of it as wearing 3 pairs of tight jeans while squating its like a spring the shoots you back up.

  • Only pussies wear shirts for bench press, but maybe that's just my opinion.

  • Thumbs up if you wish you could add 45 each side to ur bench each set lol

  • your an Inspiration.Hope to hook up some day and talk shop....

  • real strength.no arch in the back

  • i thought he fell asleep at 1:56 lol

  • beast!!

  • what a monster, i'd pay to see a 500 bench, let alone 600 for reps. what he should did is something you'll never see at an ordinary gym or pretty much anywhere else lol

  • james henderson... you big bastard. You should grow a massive beard

  • @MitchSUHC jamebo slice

  • looool " i have to tone my workout down around my spotters" funny dude

  • I bet he could easily bench 1,000 lbs with a bench shirt on. His raw power is unreal.

  • @mandora45 It doesnt work like that

  • @mandora45 RAW and geard total different things, without training with a shirt he wouldnt even bench shirted his raw weight but i guess he prefers training raw anyway

  • @mandora45 yeah he could lol.

  • My max is 315 and he did it for reps, fucking beast.

  • nothing fancy, but fancy lifting.

  • Thank you very much

  • SSHHEETTTTTTT my max is 325 he repped it... im sad

  • if he warmed up more than your max you dont ever workout. hes a fat kid anyways.

  • @ejv27288 Yea im actually 6'4 210 but i only bench 255. He did 315 for a warmup like it was nothing

  • "shortcuts get short responses".wise words from a wise man!

  • daaaaaaang

  • how yr old he is right now ????

  • Hahaha, this guy is awesome! I just love his attitude. He's funny and seems like a really nice guy. :). Inspiration.

"Thank you very much, get out the way!" haha.

  • wow he makes it look easy

  • what year was this?

  • ALL BEAST!!!!!!

  • I always liked Henderson. He is cool and lifts raw. One of my favorites and a good man.

  • Henderson is the current world record holder for heaviest drug tested raw bench press. Big James Henderson’s record setting lift was 711 lbs.[6] and it occurred on July 13, 1997 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania during an IPF/USPF sanctioned event.

  • it seemed he suffered in his 225 :P, lol then he adds weight....

  • He's so calm with 600 lbs on the bar Lol this guy isn't human!

  • 4 people aren't very manly

  • did this fucking guy just rest 5 plates on his chest on the last rep...

  • @sukmyballz Pause reps, he's not resting it, cuz supporting it and pushing from the "hole". Helps with sticking points.

  • @hallgod33 lol i know what its for its just damn impressive

  • Love this guy! So inspirational. Great attitude. Wish more ppl were like him @ my gym.

  • "If you take short cuts you know, you get short responses."

  • he is strong as fuck but he probably weights 400+ pounds

  • @dickdos 390 lbs my friend ! james has forearm that im dreamin about !!! probably 50 lbs forearms lollll

  • you a legend james , ' you dont need all the fancy stuff like shirts and drugs' , your a powerfull animal!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i like the part where he goes,"see i'm a monster..i like to work out..i like to get down..spoken like a true powerlifter

  • "I gotta tone down my workout for my spotters". Great line.

  • u know ur a beast when u do 5 reps with 495 and then pause it like he did on the 6th rep

  • HIM AND RONNIE COLEMANG WORKING OUT.......THANK YOU VERY MUCH AND YEA BUDDY...PRICELESS

  • This guy is awesome, no two ways about it. Biggest raw bencher ever, although Mendelson did more, he didn't pause it. Henderson owns the biggest paused raw bench record, still. Total class act, and great sense of humour.

  • I still have this workout on Powerlifting Video Magazine (VHS). This is one of my favorite workouts to watch. His comment on toning his workout around his spotters is PRICELESS. This is what a real bencher looks like. He's a CLASS ACT and the true SHIRTLESS SHERIFF. You are still THE MAN!!!

  • His basic formula is dead on right, the faster you lift a weight, the greater the success rate, best advice ever besides "stay tight."

  • Hahaha, why play with the little change when you can go for the big dollars.

  • A great guy in person too. Gives back to the community.

  • Thumbs up if he warmed up with more than your max

  • @Fedor1337

my max is 395 and he flew through that...

  • @Fedor1337 lol yea at 315 but not 225 haha

  • @Fedor1337 Haha my max is only in the mid 300's, he could do that in his sleep!!!

  • @Fedor1337 you guys must be 15 or something

  • STONG.KEEP IT UP BRO

  • natural power, luv him.

  • To thin this man is using anabolics, or as I like to call it "bodybuilder's balls" is absurd; raw strength anf feats such as this IS NOT IMPOSSIBLE. Hell, there was a man by the name of Paul Anderson who also lifted quite huge amount of weight without the assistance of todays straps, bench shirts, etc.

  • This cat is kill'in it

  • Big James like him.

  • Speak for yourself, say.... I'm weak, Ive always been weak, and I always will be weak, and "I" need to cheat in order to win!! If you want to find "Fault" look in the mirror!!!

  • Unbelievable!

  • i like this vid haaha

  • Hollywood Henderson is the UNDISPUTED 'KING' of the Bench, Raw, and Drug free, I would have given Anything to test myself against this guy in competition!! With me being on the west coast, and him being from Florida, it never happened, But speaking from someone who knows, he was the BEST EVER!!! I will be posting more vids of me, when I was young, so you can see for youselves, I'm not just makin this stuff up!!

  • "Get out da way" LOL... Big J is the man!

  • your pants are awesome.

  • This guy is actually a genius when it comes to weightlifting, I have watched his other videos and he is very intelligent. I wonder if he is this good in squat and deadlift as well.

  • I've never seen a guy like this.....he looks like he put football shoulder pads on, and put a shirt on over that.....only problem, he doesn't have pads on!

  • Still the record holder in raw bench press (no shirts or drugs).

  • @voce1489 no Scott Mendelson is by a mile

  • @bomdigi1

9 lbs isn't a MILE, and, Mendelson's was a touch and go, Henderson fucking PAUSED with 705....HE's the true record holder in the raw bench.

  • @NWpowerhouse85 no hes not but i dont really care

  • @bomdigi1

Neither do I, he's probably the most impressive person on earth to watch lift for benching, incline, and close grip.

  • @NWpowerhouse85 henderson paused 711.

  • Seems like a cool guy. Love to take this guy out for a steak or five.

  • @shortfatandcrass no homo?

  • Benchpress Monster!! Nr.1

    and NATURAL, no cheating steroids

  • @runnerbaba

Dude, you don't ACTUALLY think that one of the two highest raw benchers in the history of humans, got there without any assistance, do you?

  • @NWpowerhouse85 I do! History has had superstrong powerful men centuries before P.E.D came into exsistance. James is Super Big Super Strong and I believe Supernatural like Mark Henry and Paul Anderson........it is possible.

  • @LVSWTZ Neither Mark Henry nor Paul Anderson were natural, and this guy served time for distributing steroids and other drugs. He IS genetically gifted, and this is what happens when genetics, hard work, smart training, sound dieting, and anabolics all get rolled into one.

If you think for even a second that any human being can manhandle the giant weights that this man moves without some sort of drug, you're a fool, sorry.

  • @NWpowerhouse85 i not fool and i've been lifting weights though not world record poundages for 25 years. It's possible just not in your mind.

  • @LVSWTZ I'm sorry but yes, you are a fool(not "you fool", there's this thing called grammar).

This man was convicted of drug trafficking----he SOLD STEROIDS. You're telling me that a 400lb man who is one of the strongest benchpressers EVER, who GOT CAUGHT SELLING ILLEGAL ANABOLIC STEROIDS is completely natural, and never used them??

I mean, seriously.....how fucking stupid are you?

  • @NWpowerhouse85 "siiiiiiggggghhhhh" he may have used. but none the less i believe that 600 plus pound benches are possible drug free given genetics and drive and training. i believe a 1000 pound raw bench is with in reach though it's a long reach. like the making of a diamond it'll take pressure and time. i believe a man can fly..............you don't. see yah!

  • @LVSWTZ If man was meant to fly, he'd have wings.

If man was meant to bench 700lbs(this guy did over 700lbs raw in competition), then the AVERAGE man would be able to bench 225 the first time he walked into a gym.

Steroids turn one into a beyond average man, no matter how genetically gifted one is or how large, they still have the same kind of hormones in their body, and there's a ceiling----steroids take one way beyond that ceiling, and with more effective hormones at that.

  • @NWpowerhouse85 James, Scot Mendelson are at the human limit?? how the fuck do you know? do you know every single fucking person in the world? There are people out there who are over 8 ft tall, does that mean they are on HGH? some people have great genetics, just because you cant do it doesnt mean others cant, dont get all pissy cause your parents have shitty genetics and passed it on to you.

  • @tripleleap God, you're dumb.

They're at the limit for human genetics regarding strength athletics. Anyone who grows freakishly tall has long limbs and can't lift shit, so they're out of the equation.

And again, this guy IS the genetic limit. Yes, there are other guys that have reached that point, but they don't get better for benchpressing, otherwise 714 wouldn't be the record---which has stood now for how many years? That's right, it hasn't budged.

No one is 8 feet tall, check Guinness

  • @tripleleap I have a profile picture on here that speaks for itself, so I'm not even addressing the stupid personal comment.

Finally, what the fuck is your point, douchebag? Is it to troll?

This man, Scot Mendelson, and the others in the sport are examples of people with TOP LEVEL GENETICS who add drugs, smart training and years of training, and put them all together. The ethnicities with the best genetics for lifting aren't people from third world countries, they're from Sweden, Poland

  • @tripleleap The U.S., Canada, and the like. Shut your trap, you obviously don't know what the fuck's going on---might have to do with the fact that your head is shoved so far up your ass that you can no longer hear due to being entrapped within your own rectum.

  • @NWpowerhouse85 getting all pissy again LOL stop whining like a little bitch, you remind me of your mom

  • @NWpowerhouse85 i benched 250 my first time ever in a gym....

  • @EnvelopedInDarkness Lol calling bullshit on that one. According to strength standards tables, you'd have to weigh 765 to be able to bench 250 first time ever in a gym. I doubt you have a 765 physique. I doubt you're a genetic monster like Mendelson. This is clearly your YouTube "they can't prove me wrong on the Internets" ego talking.

  • @LVSWTZ And woah, I JUST saw that obscene comment.

    1000lbs raw???

WTF lmao, if that's the case, then how come the raw bench record hasn't even budged about 6-7 years?

You need to learn body physiology. The people like James, Scot Mendelson, ones that lift, THESE ARE THE SUPER FREAKS, it doesn't get any better in terms of bone structure and size for moving weights. They're at the human limit, you can't get higher if you're a human.

I'm done with you, it's like talking to a 6 year old.

  • @NWpowerhouse85 Explain Louis Cyr.

  • @tastefulphrasing A fat slob that has absolutely no documentation whatsoever to any of the bullshit lifts that he supposedly did.

Look, Andy Bolton is far larger than he ever was. He has decades of science behind him regarding advanced training principles, optimal volume/frequency/speed/rest time, as well as training speed, rep ranges, exercise variety, etc. There's also nutrition, of which they knew nothing about 125 years ago.

  • @tastefulphrasing Andy Bolton also has the advantage of using anabolic steroids the intelligent way, under the watchful eye of physicians and trainers, and for several years. At 380lbs, he's the only man to have barbell-deadlifted 1000lbs.

Yet Louis Cyr, who was far fatter and had a quarter of the size and none of the advances and knowledge of training today, somehow lifted it with ONE FUCKING FINGER???

People like you prove that common sense is a lost art.

  • @tastefulphrasing There's your explanation.

  • James Henderson lifted in USPF and there is proper PRESS -command. Scott Mendelson didnt stop the bar at his chest eventhough he had a "PRESS"

-command and his lift would have been disqualified in USPF. James is still the bench Nr. One!

  • @az596 no Scott Mendelson is actually the #1 bencher

  • @bomdigi1 And actually scott mendelson is the #1 cheater.. "im not the best in cheat technic, im the best by doing it right" -James

Though Mendelson is one of the best.

  • @az596 there all cheaters they all use drugs so whats your point?

  • @bomdigi1 Mendelsons bench was touch and go, not from the mark as they lift on IPF.

  • @az596 it had a slight pause dont hate.

  • he's so darn polite

  • thank u very much... hahaha

  • now GIT of the way : P!!!!

  • Take your time and do it RIGHT!

    Yeah :p

  • 2m16s ...pec flexing

  • i met him at my school!!!!

  • What manners! I like how he says, "thank you very much" after he gets a lift off from his spot.

  • He is huge!

    What power

  • James is an amazing character, he would have been a natural in pro wrestling. The power and form on this vid is unsurpassed.

  • Great, great form. Controlled and correct speed. And, no shirt!!! Those things are ridiculous...

  • idiot hes not being jealous.

    others are being retarded...

can u NOT read what he says?

youre one of those guys who read a few words here and there and then decide its a trash post and go /ENRAGE and not read it

  • yup thank you very much get out of the way!

  • hahaha....=MAN

  • I love this Dude. "I like to tone my workout down for my spotters" after resting 500 on your chest before the last rep. HAHAHAHAHAH BEAST!!!!!

  • "We're gonna crank up the workout now...go to 5 then go to 6"... Only a BEAST can make a statement like that. The workout was cranked up at 400 to me.

  • I love this video. I beleive in high weight low rep bench press that's worked best for me :)

  • thank you very much!

  • He's still alive. Says so on wikipedia.

  • James is cool James is BIG , watched him on Physique TV !

  • Henderson was a great body builder. What an inspiration to so many people. Its so sad he had to die at such an early age. He will forever be missed!

  • burn in hell

  • dumbass

  • @RWDtech hes not a bodybuilder

  • thats my god father he is from polk county florida he is the best

  • James is huge...

if he hadn't injured his knee in football he'd be even bigger cause he'd be squatting...

    RAW DRUG FREE

    EAT YOUR HEARTS OUT JUICERZ

  • thank you James. a thousand blessings on your Universe!

  • i swear james henderson came to my school today

    .

  • if i saw james henderson in person i think i'd probably go crazy.

  • i cant believ that hes clean but its the truth james henderson is clean but i cant believ its so amazing hehe

  • has he competed in a natural federation or do u just have a feelin hes clean..?

  • ehhm not a feelin its in the internet, england wikipedia he has the world record in clean testet bench press competition, 711lbs and its the truth ;) he trains since 19 years

  • only completed in drug tested federations, always been advocate of natural training ext. Guy was 400+lbs not hard to believe the type of strength he had.

  • why do people thumb me down if i ASK?

im not trying to trash talk, but many people ASSUME that their "idols" are perfect etc, this applies especially to many bodybuilders etc, i dont know anything about henderson cept that hes ridiculously strong so i asked has he competed in drug free competitions or not..

  • lol after the lift off "thank you very much", "get out of the way" lol

  • Black guys are the strongest! Mark Henry- Highest raw squat @ 950 , (ex-world record) 903 Deadlift, and henderson with 711 RAW bench.

  • mendelson, bolton, konstantinov, etcetc..

i'd say its 50-50 or so

  • these guys are great don't get me wrong, but they use shirts.. I'm not going to go far and say Black guys are the strongest - but when you put Mendelson, Bolton, and Konstantinov up against someone like James, then you cannot really compare because they use shirts and according to what James said he is drug-free, which I am sure the other guys are not.

  • actually konstantinov competes raw..

when you look at the top powerlifters and/or bodybuilders for that matter (yea i know its nota bout strength) i'd STILL say its about 50-50.

Maybe more black dudes in bodybuilding and more white dudes in powerlifting i'd say.

    Oh and dont forget strongmen!

    Those are white!

And erm.. when you say put up against.. for example konstantinov makes crazy raw lifts and i believe henderson ONLY benches?

So you're comparing a bencher to a powerlifter...

  • Yeah I am comparing a bencher to a powerlifter and in that
