  • Thank you!!!!!!

  • you are an amazing teacher. :)

  • ok video, for beginners there are very good lessons if you google - guitar manual blog and see first result, good luck

  • MY FINGERS DONT STERTCH THAT FAR LOL WHAT DO I DO :(

  • sorry buddy, I appreciate what you're doing, but as a guitar teacher myself, I disagree with telling people to keep their fingers close to the frets. In my opinion, the most frustrating thing for students is the dreaded 'fret buzz' that happens to everyone when they start to learn. The easiest way to compensate for this, is to aim for the middle of the space between the frets...

  • @sinnerbox NO. Sorry dude, did you ever try it?

Please try!! see how light you can press and get a good note. try near the fret. try the middle. it will be obvious!

  • @JustinSandercoe - Absolutely agree, pressing just behind the fret (wherever possible, due to chordal fingering, etc) is the right way to do it - better 'leverage' and a clearer note. Obvously, pressing 'on' the fret will mute the required note, aiming for the middle, or moving even further away form the fret increases the chance of fret buzz, and requires more effort to get a clean note.

  • @sinnerbox the thing with fretting in the middle, I found that it's really easy to press to hard in the middle, causing the string to bend slightly and sound out of tune. Putting it closer to the fret gives a clearer sound (just on the fret or too close, however, causes the fret buzz).

  • my fingers hurt like a muthafucka

  • Ow.

  • great video!!! bumbleboos is right, every teaching guitar assumes we know evereything, and you do it the right way.thank you, and i will def recomend these vidoes

  • Thank you so much

  • my guitar have 12 frets why is that do i have to change

  • i agree with bumbleboos.....u are a good beginner teacher

  • Wow thanks man, i just got my guitar today and was getting frustrated cos i can't play for shit, but this helps. LIKE ALOT!!!

    Thank you =)

  • This may sound dumb to some But is the principles the same. As in this Show and tell for a electric guitar.

    Thanks for showing good .

    Peace

  • Nice one show us some more

  • I like how you taught us like we were beginners, because most people make videos thinking we know this when we dont, which is why were looking it up. Thanks alot:)

  • could u plz make a video on how to play im yours easy fro beginners without that clip thing

  • @beautyflower17 don't be a twat

  • @ForwardMcburn wtf im not being a fucken twat im just asking

  • um well this other dude on youtube said 1st chord is e!

  • @dreamersbelievers there isnt a first chord but this guy is just using d beacause its simple

  • I remember when I first started playing the guitar. Your fingers hurt like HELL for the first few days. I recommend that you practice all day on the first day until you can't take the pain anymore. Wait until the pain is gone, and you have grow calluses.

  • hi, a total guitar rookie here, but i have a question. i am following this video to learn a particular song i love, but when i strum the chord, it doesnt sound like whats in the video. and i know my guitar is tuned sooo im wondering what im doing wrong. any help would be greatly appreciated!!

  • @parisgala Uhmmm... Maybe the song uses a different chord? Hahahaha there's lots of chords to learn. And an endless possibility of others that you could come up with (ie: from thickest string to thinnest string; Open [meaning you don't fret] - 4th fret - 2nd fret - 4th fret - 2nd fret - Open. It's a very nice chord, but I don't have a name for it yet)!

  • hey!!

    I have a question...

I've just started to learn guidar alone following this video...so I dont know at all how to..

I was wondering how much pressure do I put into the chords cause the sound isn't very clear...I mean do I touch the chords alla the time(for example when I do the D chord)???

I know I sound stupid but I don't get it... It doesn't sound the same with the video at all!!!

    please sbdy help me....

  • @corin121

Corin, you only need to use enough pressure to make each string sound clear. If you are having trouble, try holding each string by itself first, and plucking it until you get a clear sound. Ideally. When you are strumming a chord, you would normally hold the chord for as long as you want it to ring out. As soon as you release, the chord will stop. Depending on the piece you are playing, this could be short or long. Keep trying, it will come.

  • @alanp36

    thank you very much!!!

  • @corin121 like anyone else has been saying only enough pressure for the strings to fully ring if you hear buzzing or strings cutting off and not ringing in time or muting thats when you're playing wrong

  • grr my 3rd finger keeps blocking the high e :/

  • best and easy way to learn guitar you should try this

    guitar.ibloghub . com

    This is great place

  • I've been all over youtube trying to find a video that would help me, and yours is by far the best. thanks.

  • youre adorable.

  • ugh, this lesson is great but Im left handed and I have big fingers, any advice anyone?

  • get a larger guitar.

  • @The01Toby i lefty with a righty so its twice as hard

  • I think that this guy is the official facebook guitar teacher...hahaha At least it seems that way to me. I have been trying to learn guitar off and on for quite a while which is proving to be a challenge due to the fact that my rythm is bad, i have huge fingers(a chord killer), and I am tone deaf. Even with all that this lesson might be enough to get me where I need to be.

  • @veryeclectic yeah get a guitar with a bigger neck or somethin' i've got the opposite problem my neck happens to be too big for my fingers :D

  • would help me too :P

  • This is that first lesson that I have found on the internet that actually works for me!! Thank-you so much!!!

  • omg thanks so much im finally learning guitar!!!!! (:

I have huge holes in my fingers D:

    Gonna keep trying tho :/

  • I'm 10. I just started learning playing guitar. I don't own a guitar but my brother owns. I used hi guitar but its hard to put my fingers on the neck becos the width of the neck is long.

  • YOU DAH MAN

  • thanks a lot for posting this and for the support

  • I am confused as to y your thumb is at the top of the guitar... shouldn't it be underneath?

  • sometimes it should so your thumb doesnt hit the low E string, but it doesnt matter on the d because you only use the higher strings

  • :) thanks I was super confused like I said Im new at this

  • why does my guitar sound so different ?! when i strum the D chord mine sounds way different and lower ???

  • buy a guitar tuner

  • after maybe a week or so the tuning starts to get a little off, there are some online guitar tunings for beginners, but once you memorize the sound you'll be able to do it easily

  • mine 2

  • i just bought a guitar, and i seriously fail,

    im not giving up..

but seriously.. i cant move my fingers to the chords easily.. :S

my fingers are in massive pain and they are like so red

  • I am right there with you lol except I cannot afford a guitar so i am learning on my friends 12 string (lol) plus i have small hands so its really hard BUT don't give up, just exercize your hands everyday and if your fingers bleed, it's normal, soon enough your fingers will callus over and it wont be so bad :) good luck and remember... the lightbulb wasn't invented in the 1st try, but now we have tons of different kinds just keep at it till you found what you are comfortable with :)

  • I like the way you teach man, you have a light voice your words always makes sense and you are calm.

  • Love the way you keep it simple yet very thorough. Your a great teacher! Thank you so much.

  • bien ahi!

  • Well, this sure is very nice! All music academies in town being fully booked through next summer, it is wonderful to use this as an alternative. Bless you!

  • Thank-you so much for posting these lessons here. I have absolutely no way to pay for guitar lessons, so this is a really incredible opportunity to learn. You rock!

  • Lol im a student.. im going to go to Guitar and singing classes this week..

  • You are awesome! Me and my son are watching and learning from your website. Thanks

  • Oh wow this is great, I'm a student and there's no way that I can afford guitar lessons with a personal teacher so thanks alot!!

  • Great stuff, Thanks!

  • A great YouTube video i'd recommend for learning this stuff is....

"Guitar lessons for beginners - guitar lesson #1"

  • I can't find lesson one... could someone send me the link?

  • i think you need to learn the meaning of ambidextrous you tool..

  • I play guitar the other hand, so can you tell me where I can get a left handed lesson as I am ambidextrous and can't play with my other hand, and trying to watch it in the mirror is awkward.

  • the video was done in 2007 so he maybe already has

  • gay

  • cn i use 4th not 3rd finger?

that's so much easer for me..

  • you r supposed to start with the e miner duh its the easyist way i learn the d cord on like my 8 lesson

  • THANK - YOU SO SO SO SO SO SO SO MUCH!!!!!!! The only down side to your video is that it makes me fingers hurt but however you learn, they will always hurt! Thank - you!♥

  • WHAT THE FUCK, i did exactly what this says, but that last string always makes that fuckin stupid plucking sound

  • Try pushing harder

  • Well, then your finger is still wrong or the string is out of tune

  • put ur middle finger on first string 2nd fret, pointer on 3rd strings 2nd fret and ring finger on 2nd string 3rd fret, much easierrrrrrrrrrrr for me at least

  • I am a left handed player

well i know nothing about playing guitars, i feel so hopless with it, i have 2 guitars but i cant play a note, i just sounds like a bunch random bum notes , i dont know where to begin, but i really want to play the guitar. i have 2 electric guitars a bc rich warlock and a brian may red special

  • I know what you mean about not knowing where to start and feeling like I'm playing a bunch of random stuff. my guitar sounds wrong, I don't know what it is, but when I watch a video where someone's playing a chord, the sound is beautiful, then I play the same chord and I'm like, =S What was that?!

I've used an online guitar tuner still no luck

  • LOL i gave up already

  • u gave up playing guitar??!

  • clear, concise, easy to listen to and understand. pretty solid lesson...

  • half a million views....wow this guy is popular.

  • grr the last string wont make any sound and i cant figure out how to fix it. ive tried lifting my third finger but it wont work. please help

  • the last as in the highest e string?

you need to make sure that your second finger is as close to the fret as possible without touching it. you also need to make sure you are pressing down hard enough. and make sure when you put your third finger on that it doesn't mute the first string by accident. and, make sure all your fingers are vertical to the string....

    hope that helps...

  • thank you :)

  • your not pressing the chords hard enough common mistake

  • you doesn't afraid of anything

  • love ur accent!

  • I learned C first

  • I am here watching the video

    I am enchanted

  • haha...yay

    I can play d now

I have always wanted to learn how but i could never find any free online lessons

  • your pretty cool(Y)

  • can someone give me the happy birthday note to me cuz my girlfriend birthday soon i wan to play a song for her thank you^^

    p.s your cool

  • I cant play guitar my fingers are too big ..........x(

  • try and pull the strings away from each other when you hold them down. srry

  • i can relate dont give up keep playin you have to improvise on how you play your chords it will come to ya.

  • ....

  • thanks alot I got it! :D

  • you are soooooooo cute...tutor me?

  • i have long nails how can i play with them

  • you can pick with them but you can't hold down the strings with them..

  • use a quitar pick : )

or while ur waiting 2 get one, use a penny : )

  • cut them...for just about every instrument you need short nails

  • Fantastic lesson pal, I'll be sure to add it to my favorites for future reference.

It took some trying, about half an hours worth to be exact, to keep my third finger from muting the thinnest string, but eventually I prevailed!

I'm the consummate beginner, having just purchased my acoustic guitar today. Your lesson and teaching manner helped me out in a big way.

Big kudos to you, friend, I'll be checking out some of your other videos.

  • man, its so frustating. my fingers are too short to spread out and not mute the other strings, and my fingers start to hurt too quickly before i can even play it. any tips?

  • It's all about routine :)... keep on like that for a few weeks and you wont feel a thing :)

  • I had that too, but after a few weeks, you don't feel the pain anymore and the most things will go nice and smoothly.

Really, it's all just a matter of time

  • omigosh me too, I just cannot get this right!

  • i subbed. Thank you so much! I have had my guitar for months now, but never have i picked it up. My only question is, how long should I practice this chord? untill i get it down or until memorized?

  • ohh yeah awesome thnx =D

  • My third finger cant reach the string. Its so frustrating!

  • dude, that's not even stretching your finger, that's like an inch from your index finger

  • I know i know but i find it really difficult to reach, im there now after a lot of practise but i do find it hard

  • Ugh guitar is so hard! I have played drums since I was 5 and can rock on drums but im sick of sucky guitar players so im trying to learn guitar.. The bad thing is my hands are so fat! Getting my two fingers on two sings in one fret is a pain. Any chubby finger guitar players have tips for me? I got the chord down but sheesh this isnt looking promising.

    -Mr. Sausage Fingers

  • Slimfast and you might be pushing down too hard which is squishing your fingers all over

  • If Israel Kamakawiwo'Ole could play it, you can.

  • omg....ermm yea....ive got my fingers down on the correct strings...but as soon as i try to strm, no sound comes...makes the plucking sound....instead of the sweet sweet noise i should here....any help?

  • adjust your fingers. i remember i had the same problem in the beginning. try to keep your fingers close to the fret but not on it exactly. Keep trying, you'll get it.

  • same thing with me, it's really frustrating :(

  • I like how you explain it easy ..

Could you teach how to tune the guitar:D

Please? I have watched other viedos but I try To do the D chord and it dont sound right :/

  • Awesome, good lesson. Actually helped. 5*

  • I just can't get this done without having my third finger touch the E string.. tried for a full week now.

  • Are your fingers perpendicular with the fret board? IE coming down at a 90 degree angle (or close to).

  • its so easy

  • This is a beginners chord? E major seemed easier.

  • oomg! I love him o.o

  • I CANT GET IT !

  • me too!!!

  • he's cool :)

  • aww tnx at last after hours of practice I got it! tnx a lot, now one step has past!! tnx!!

  • its way harder than it looks. my fingrs wont stay on the chordss :S

  • Nice Guitar, Check Out My Videos, You might be intrested in a link up.

    Check Out My Maton too.

  • Thank you!!! You rock : )

  • i'm confused i just got it where is d

  • waiit... umm, im a right hander and my left hand is rather useless and can't touch the chords at all... and the 2nd line can't make long sounds if you know what i mean...

  • Ouch, my fingers are going to fall off!

Haha, but thank you, very helpful.

  • thanks dude!

  • when you pick the notes one at a time it sounds a bit like Everybody Hurts from REM ;) thanks for the lesson

  • this isn't easy for me since i am just starting. it is easy to remember since i have played piano for 12 years remembering things isn't the problem it is the awkward finger positions that i have to be in. but good job on the video! i know practice will help me it did with funky piano piano positions that i have had trouble with.

  • i cannot do it my fingers are killing too much. by the way how can u remember all these chords?

  • practice and dedication.
