No, you don't need to buy anything or put in any credentials.
Have you gone up-to-date on the iTunes software? If you are, you can still follow the instructions I laid out (Check description for changing format) and once the file is m4r, just double click it and a Ringtones tab should pop up on the side.
hey i have a ? when you select the file to change from m4a to m4r you have to right click and then go to get info but if my pc does not have that option how can i make it into an m4r another way hope you answer thanx
Ok if you se on the file after converting the song to AAC and dragging to the desktop with it's extension (m4a) on the namme, then just simply rename it. But if you don't see any extension on the file then follow these steps.
Windows vista users:
Control panel > folder options > view > Uncheck hide extensions for known file types
Then go to any song in properties and delete (example) .mp3 and put .m4r

I can't drag the file to my Iphone. Does anyone know why??
chintan92patel92 3 years ago
If you want, you can sync them (update to new firmware)
or you can set things to be manually from the iPhone menu on iTunes.

Try updating to the newest version of iTunes. I haven't ran into any problems like that.
Or maybe the song extension is not set to the correct format for iTunes. - Soccer

1- Open any folder

4- Rename the song to m4r
This should solve your problem.
