My apologies! Tiling!! Dah! What's wrong with me????.
I think I remember telling someone (maybe you) that the tiling was already on the fireplace when we bought the house. Wait !!! I found it, I ansewed this a while ago. Sorry for all the confusion!
Getting old and forgetting things goes hand in hand.
By the way I loved the video of you singing with your cute cat.
I'm not sure what you mean when you say tilting. Do you mean the arch? If that's what your asking here's how I did that. I used a thin piece of clear grade A Pine wood 1 1/2" x 1/4". made marks on the face of the mantle and bent the pine stick to get the arch I wanted and then traced it with a pencil. Then I cut the arch with a saber saw. I used a belt sander to smooth it. This is only one way to do it. You could also set up a Router on a pivot and route the arch into the work.
Thank You for the compliment!! I sit next to it every day and enjoy the view! MDF is not expensive so the cost to build this is very low. Good luck building your unit.
If you have any questions I can help with just ask! I'd love to see your mantel when you finish it!

I think I said tiling - not tilting. Sorry if i mis-typed.
Thanks for the advice on the tiling.

how did you do the tiling?

@s2macdon
The tile was there when we bought the house. It's flat to the wall and I just put mounted the mantle over the tile.
Hope that helps!

That is truly awsome. I would love to have one around my fireplace. How can I get one or where can I get one.
