@politoblog: the equilbrium need not be pareto optimum. what you call the best solution is when both players trust each other, but in reality the pther person is unpredictable and in light of this the best solution or the rational solution would be for both of them to betray
Holy shit... the narrator's perspective for parts 2 & 3 of this video went EXTREMELY 1 sided, negative & hypocritical. Just blame the people with different ideas... damn. I agree much, much more with the economists & theorists. Easily. Literally every time 1 of them speaks (between the narration) they seem MORE & MORE informed & accurate than the "opposing" ideas.
This documentary make seriously false conclusions of the game theory. in a prisoner's dilemma, it's better for both actors to cooperate! By following their self-interested strategy, actors would end up with a worse and Pareto-inefficient outcome! The cold-war strategy is not a PD, but a chicken game and it's rational result is sub-optimal too! How is it possible that a documentary about game theory says the opposite that the theory has actually revealed? Simply put: this documentary is rubbish.
This goes to show why we should always Question Authority. These sick fools endangered the entire Earth because of their twisted, neurotic minds & blind belief in these theories & used them to exploit the populace. These clueless, wealthy morons never had to work to survive so they live in a self centered delusion where they are the only concern. It's been going on as long as we've had a Monetary System for them to use as a weapon against the many. They make & control the Money & the Game.
WOW. amazing stuff. I love the portrayal of bureaucrats as total self seeking jerks, who have the audacity to cloak their selfish deeds with altruism! It reminds me of the public school teachers unions in the USA. "We are teachers; pay us more! Don't ever dare fire us!' meanwhile, USA public schools are the WORST in the developed world. The German's and Japanese put our poor children to shame. America's true Achilles heel.
Interesting, The Buddha said that men are like crows, always strutting around seeking their own advantage, and women are like creepers(a type of plant) always seeking support
Yes, questioning of human nature goes back to thousands of years even. Socrates questioned politicians motives as well. Its funny how they present these views as if they were something new.
@qigong1001 it may seem in this video that they present these views as if they were something new, but really their just a bunch of children (adults really) learning, you can scrutinize the brain washed youth of today, but when they wake up from the idiosyncratic stupidity they find on television and actually try and learn about behaviors, you can't blame them for trying to learn something like you said how this study goes "thousands of years back".
Altruism stems from selfishness, evolution 101

Hilarious. Leftists blaming libertarian thinking for the collapse of leftist politics (which was totally dominant in the UK at that time).
The REAL truth is, Hayek's thinking only STARTED to make headway in the UK with the ascent of Thatcher, and even then it was ONLY economically.
This is a silly, paranoid documentary. More bullshit leftist propaganda.
