  • Altruism stems from selfishness, evolution 101

  • @politoblog: the equilbrium need not be pareto optimum. what you call the best solution is when both players trust each other, but in reality the pther person is unpredictable and in light of this the best solution or the rational solution would be for both of them to betray

  • Holy shit... the narrator's perspective for parts 2 & 3 of this video went EXTREMELY 1 sided, negative & hypocritical. Just blame the people with different ideas... damn. I agree much, much more with the economists & theorists. Easily. Literally every time 1 of them speaks (between the narration) they seem MORE & MORE informed & accurate than the "opposing" ideas.

  • This documentary make seriously false conclusions of the game theory. in a prisoner's dilemma, it's better for both actors to cooperate! By following their self-interested strategy, actors would end up with a worse and Pareto-inefficient outcome! The cold-war strategy is not a PD, but a chicken game and it's rational result is sub-optimal too! How is it possible that a documentary about game theory says the opposite that the theory has actually revealed? Simply put: this documentary is rubbish.

  • song at 6.42 is new order - age of consent

  • @walserdog thank you. i was just going to ask. i listened to it about 10 times already this day

  • 3:32 What does he think that i think that we think that...wait, thats not right...

  • does anyone know the song at 6:42?

  • hm, selfishness of a person or selfishness of a group. seems that the prime works better.

  • No FOX/CNN/MSNBC Backed candidates 2012!

  • This goes to show why we should always Question Authority. These sick fools endangered the entire Earth because of their twisted, neurotic minds & blind belief in these theories & used them to exploit the populace. These clueless, wealthy morons never had to work to survive so they live in a self centered delusion where they are the only concern. It's been going on as long as we've had a Monetary System for them to use as a weapon against the many. They make & control the Money & the Game.

  • REALIZE THAT WERE ALL WATCHING THESE VIDEO, along with the E L i t e of the world, cause Water flows and plants grow!! you cant control the sun!

  • Brian Eno at 5:09 - fuck yeah!

  • WOW. amazing stuff. I love the portrayal of bureaucrats as total self seeking jerks, who have the audacity to cloak their selfish deeds with altruism! It reminds me of the public school teachers unions in the USA. "We are teachers; pay us more! Don't ever dare fire us!' meanwhile, USA public schools are the WORST in the developed world. The German's and Japanese put our poor children to shame. America's true Achilles heel.

  • @aaronhedberg i agree, very sadly though

what a shame..i believe their is a opposite, as there is always in math. that if we trusted one another, we would all prosper

  • @aaronhedberg maybe because we don't put any money into public education. and teachers aren't overpaid. give me a break.

  • anyone else having issues with this part not playing correctly except for the first few seconds?

  • no..playing fine for me

  • I know that your comment was 5 months ago, but if the problem still persists, you can try deleting your cookies...

  • @BruceBeefcake Actually it seems fine now. Though obviously it's been a while since I watched the other parts.

  • Interesting, The Buddha said that men are like crows, always strutting around seeking their own advantage, and women are like creepers(a type of plant) always seeking support

  • Yes, questioning of human nature goes back to thousands of years even. Socrates questioned politicians motives as well. Its funny how they present these views as if they were something new.

  • agree with what youv said here... i believe its about recognising what they want to recognise.

  • @qigong1001 it may seem in this video that they present these views as if they were something new, but really their just a bunch of children (adults really) learning, you can scrutinize the brain washed youth of today, but when they wake up from the idiosyncratic stupidity they find on television and actually try and learn about behaviors, you can't blame them for trying to learn something like you said how this study goes "thousands of years back".

  • @GhOsT24Se7eN I pretty much agree with that.

  • Yay! Two of my favourite things: Game Theory and Yes Minister!

  • Thanks for posting, an interesting watch. Would like to see the rest of this =P
