  • awesome!!! we played this song with the Vi-Crons back in the 60s, we were hot, like the Mann Band. no sound enahancements, just plug in and go, yet we new how to balance mucic, vocals and haromony. all the kids could do it back then, heck, it was kid stuff.

  • this would be the perfect wedding march song

  • Of course it's not from the Sullivan show - one look at the set would suffice for that. Paul Jones was one of the great charismatic frontmen, and Manfred was - well - predictable in his forlorn attempts to inject himself visually into the proceedings.

  • Look at the difference in overall intensity between today's pop acts and that of the "Golden Age." The way the "old" bands behaved while performing is considered to be corny by most of today's generation. (The way they danced, bounced, shook the maracas, etc...) The thing is though is that they were so psyched that they weren't able to physically hold themselves together. They were psyched because they made it big by BEING FUCKING GOOD. Not because all they had was a nice set of breasts!

  • to midi man, you're right. This is definitely not Ed Sullivan. However they are NOT lip syncing. They played it live a whole step higher than the recording. This was when bands were good so Im not surprised you thought they were lip syncing

  • Great video song sounds good but can we please upload complete songs cuts off at the end and that ruins the vid

  • Paul Jones is great!! Manfred is so cool guy! Yeah!

  • 0:36 the keyboardist's facial was way ahead of his time. didnt know that was popular in the 60's. i see guys with that type of facial hair these days

  • poo not sure, but they sang the song time

  • are they miming?

  • @camerooniepooniepoo At the time a lot of shows didn't want the hasle of setting up the mikes etc. so there was a lot of lip syncing

  • @camerooniepooniepoo Back in those days it was rare to play live on television. Due to the technicalities of the sound equipment, and a lot to do with censorship. They had to be sure nobody was going to drop any F-bombs or such on live television.

  • This is not Ed Sullivan.

  • @LifeIsGood63 ...and it's not live. Big disappointment.

  • it is actually. they didnt film it on the set

  • I like the drums

  • is this the guy from mann fred man earth band?

  • @fattkattz55 The keyboard player, that's Manfred Mann, yes

  • koo koo daddy oh. He had to be the template for the typical beatnik for all the 60's sitcoms

  • Fiatalságom egyik nagy nótája !!! Örülók,hogy ujra hallhattam!!!!

  • i heard this song yesterday at the end of some movie and i instantly remebered hearing it before. I had forgotten what the name of the song was so i asked my grandpa said it was ,"Do Wah Diddy." Ever since then, I've been hooked to this song. I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!

  • Great video ... but NO WAY this is from the Sullivan Show. For one thing, Sullivan insisted that all acts perform live on stage and these guys are obviously lip syncing. For another, the stage of the Ed Sullivan theater was huge! This video is being shot on some crappy little studio set somewhere. Still ... great video of a great song!

  • hee hee it mighta been in color too if on ed s.but from that time, sometimes audio was not in sync with video but hey! who cares..its a good act

  • Many of the grabs that we see from the UK and Europe are from shows that record the vocals beforehand and play live. This one does sound like the original though.

  • Agree totally on all counts. What is it with most groups today; they have no idea how to enjoy themselves.

  • @midiman56 TRUST ME THEY ARE STILL GREAT LIVE THE VERY BEST

  • @midiman56 you may be right. however, were you ever at the Sullivan theater back in the day? It was not huge....

  • @midiman56 If Sullivan insisted on bands playing live, how do you explain the Stones faking Paint it Black?

  • @midiman56 That is not true. Many acts on Sullivan lip synced including the Mamas and the Papas.

  • @midiman56 Who gives a rats ass imagine back then with the audience screaming how bad the audio would sound

  • Maybe its because they are from the same era. An era when songs made some sense, singers could actually sing and musicians could play their instruments.

Unlike the present era where pop songs make no sense and the performers have NO TALENT just an ability to make a horrible NOISE.

  • I'm a fan of 60's music as well, but you're laying it on too thick. Its not like 'doo wah diddy' makes a whole lot of sense.

While today's music has been very commercialized, there are good performers out there.

  • There are plenty of talented singers and musicians today. All a matter of taste. I enjoy good Blue guitarists, no doubt there are those who consider Blues Guitar noise. I'm old enough to remember the adults describing the Beatles as no talent noise. And giving my cousin, who was a fair guitar player, influenced by pre-invasion American rock grief.

  • i was in the royal navy during the beatles main fame but i was fond of them but nothing compares to elvis presley!! first record i bought "elvis presley golden records vol 2" in 1958!!!!

i did enjoy the early 60s specially songs like "i feel fine","love me do","i wanna be your man" ahhhh time goes on quick eh

  • @Kali1050 you hit the nail on the head. want no talent? tune into modern music.
