I call it a cheap trick because it can only be done on drums, does not allow volume beyond a mezzo forte, and is easy to learn. Sure, it may be difficult to do different things over top ov it, and get creative, but he does not. He just plays it like a blast beat. It wasn't a technique designed with metal in mind. Look up Johnny Rabb - Freehand Technique on here.

It's cheap because it's significantly easier to perfect than other one-handed rolls, such as the Push-Pull, or the Jojo Mayer.

.... First of all, this is death metal. I don't even listen to death metal on a daily basis and I know that this is what the vocals are going to sound like. The vocals are almost like "auxiliary percussion" in that they add a certain touch to the music. Jesus, if you don't like it, why listen to it?
