  • Next time..Chapter 2: Pursit in Tokyo. In nice big bold letters, no less.

  • "Ninjya" is actually correct in the sense that the "じゃ" syllable is normally romanized "jya" as someone else had touched upon. It's just not that common of a spelling as people would write "ninja" in English which should actually be considered bad spelling.

  • Pursit in Tokyo, Y NOBODY MENTION

  • Ryu: You would dare!

  • Those spikes are actually sawed off bamboo sticks (no rly) :)

  • Wow. Bad spelling. Twice. Pursit in Tokyo. And Ninjya Gaiden. Tsk. Tsk. Tsk.

  • seriously HOW THE F*** DO U SPELL NINJA WRONG?!?!:because jon, sega was retarded back then.they were better off makin sonic than ninja gaiden right?

  • Htf do you spell NINJA WRONG!!!!!!!! Lofl!

  • NINJYA GAIDEM!!! lol

  • The fire wheel picture in the box looks like a friggen swastika and that's not good. Ninja gyden (I can't spell) is evil!!!!!!!!!

  • pursit? dont they mean pursuit? =P

  • I would love to see you LP Sigma 2

  • x-box

  • ninja and pursuit, youve gotta be shitting me

  • I haven't got the slightest idea why, but this popped up in my subscription box today. I checked to see if it was reuploaded, but since it has comments from over a year ago, I guess not. YouTube is seriously going crazy.

  • I'll tell you how, Jon: it has something to do with the Japanese translation. "Ja" in Japanese is a combination of two characters: "Ji" and "Ya". Therefore, the actual translation would come to "Jya", and not "Ja".

  • Both music and graphics are so much better. SMS was really ahead of it's time.

  • @JemyM Sad thing is that this looks better than the SNES NG trilogy cart.

  • Lol they had another typo, at the end it said Pursit in Tokyo instead of Pursuit.

  • there is one ninja gaiden game u should lp even if it's not long

  • aww,you get to talk to ryu you lucky basterd

  • On the Chapter 2 screen they mispeeled ninja (they spelled in ninjya)

  • @NESKid1

They did that for every Chapter.

  • i bet it was the black spider clan again!!!

  • If you didn't know - this is the game Tomonobu Itagaki's Xbox series is a continuation of. As for why they put the NES games in instead of the Sega version - Sega lost the source code for all of their games between 1999 and 2003 - this includes EVERYTHING from the Sega Master System through the Sega Saturn. Whenever a new game has been introduced into the specific systems virtual consoles/libraries they're actually just the ROM images running on Steve Snake's emulators (the same used on the PC).

  • HOW THE FUCK DO YOU MISSPELL NINJA!!!!!

  • Jesus...I hope you learned how to be expressive without blowing out ear drums in your later LPs. You set a normal tone and then utterly shatter that in a split second of uncontrollable emotion. I've never had a LP host grate on my nerves (without trying to mind you) more than your commentary on this LP did. Nontheless, I think you'd make a great LP host, and I love your choice in games. Keep up the work.

  • @1Viewer2Another Yeah I'm honestly not as happy with the older LPs as I used to be.

  • in the intro what are u playing

  • oh i heard picross...

  • "He whipped out his dragonsword" Wow... that sounds like a bad japenese porno.

  • @dandamaniac848 it sure does

  • @dandamaniac848 "Ryu whipped out his Dragonsword which is also endowed with such powers" Yeah, bad Asian porno.

  • Wow. That's two typos in one video. Ninjya (which everyone has explained). AND THEN PURSUIT, I think.

  • ...had to love ryus reaction. "you wouldent dare!" *evil ninja stare*

  • I was drinking Dr Pepper at the Ninjya moment.

    I choked.

  • Just wondering, how did you do that intro?

  • Ninjya is that way because "ja" in Japanese is a "ji" with a small "ya". It's called a glide.

  • So, from what I'm seeing so far: They modified the story, changed the level layout, modified enemy behaviors a bit, and forgot to bug check their game. They took out some cutscenes, and mispelled a few things, right?

Also, why are we looking for "The Bushido?"

  • whats with all of these spelling errors in 8 bit games

  • SPIRIT BOMB (GENKI-DAMA) lol love the move and the show KAME-HAME-HA any one guess what i referenced to by kamehameha?

  • Actually SIMS made it, SEGA made the Game Gear Ninja Gaiden.

  • Not sure if anyone's already said this but there are two versions of this game.

    Wikipedia...

"There are two versions of the game that exist. The first version tells the story through the eyes of Ryu himself, explaining his experiences in great detail. The second version is narrated from an outside source, but some details of the plot is not explained as much."

Also I think that version 1 has correct spelling.

  • Ninjya is probably because the character "ja" doesn't exist in Japanese. IIRC they use ji+ya to create it. That combination is translated in several ways. Generally accepted is ja, making ninja, but jya is also accepted, pronounced the same way. Anyway, it's just a matter of romanizing the japanese characters.

  • Lmao, "ninjya".

  • this is THE BEST VERSION of ninja gaiden off all times. This master system versio humiliates nintendo versions and all the others! the sound, action, story, is so much better than others, and makes nintendo versions like trash!

  • the first background looks a lot like the revenge of shinobi first one, dont it?

  • okay yeah this has probably been pointed out a million times, but they spelled pursuit wrong too... on the same screen where he was complaining about ninja being spelled wrong!

  • "Homing Flaming Lock"

    How about Homing Fireballs?

  • wow it says PURSIT IN TOKYO XD

  • @darkfreddie10 u saw it 2 dang bad spelling right?

  • What do you play at the beginning? i dont understand you xD

  • I want to be a ninjya when i grow up XD

  • Ninjya?! HOW THE FUCK DO YOU SPELL NINJA WRONG ?!?

    XD

  • ryu whipped out his dragonsword? REALLY?!? wow....

  • "Pursit" in Tokyo...?

  • There's also a Ninja Gaiden on the Game Gear, it's not as hard as the NES Ninja Gaiden series.

I own the Japanese cartridge of it, so no engrish translation.

  • NINJYA!!!!!! LOL

  • You and Ryu have the most funniest conversations ever! xD

  • No. It is a mistake.

There's pretty much one way to romanize Ninja.

It's not like you can write romaji just way you feel like you know.

  • There is more than one system for romanizing Japanese. It is a mistake in the sense that "ninja" is the widely accepted spelling in English. But it isn't a blatant mistake. It can be justified if the programmers did it as a stylistic choice.

  • 1. He's not a reviewer, he's a Let's Player. Whether he does or does not respect the Master System is totally up to him and none of our business, anyway.

    2. I typed "Ninjya" into Microsoft Word, and guess what? It's not a word, regardless of what the translators thought.

    3. The sound is pretty bad in places, even I gotta admit. I'm generally really tolerant and even appreciative of old school music, too.

  • Ookay here...

    1) If you think he doesn't give the MS a fair try, and you don't want to watch it... They why are you watching it?

    2) Even if there are multiple ways to Romanize "Ninja" the correct ENGLISH spelling IS "Ninja" We speaking Latin/Roman? I think not.

    3) Good for them, but are they ProtonJon? I think not.

  • WAT WERE U PLAYING

  • picross i think is what he said he was playing

  • First comment in a week yeah.

  • I would laugh my ass off if sega entered a spelling bee and had to spell ninja.

  • booo she do.Fun to pronounce.

  • they spelled pursuit wrong too...

  • sega needs spelling lessons-Ninjya what the f*ck

  • Gotta be honest. This game looks pretty lame, especially when compared to all the other NGaidens available. Intriguingly this isn't even the same as the GGear version, which is actually pretty damn good. Again, not like the NES/PCE version but unique in it's own right... not like this one on the MS. It just doesn't look fun at all. Shame, especially considering how mighty Shinobi on the MS is!

  • A survivor that...dies? Rofl!

  • "ninjya? ninja- HOW THE FUCK DO YOU SPELL NINJA WRONG?!?"

    XD

  • @ColdTRemor74 I too looked at that text confused. How hard is it to spell out word "ninja"? I remember from Double Dragon III: The Sacred Stones for NES, that in the 2 Player mode, first story text what is shown, there is a misspelling. Billy was spelled Bimmy. What a huge mistake.

  • Ninjya what the hell its ninja sega curse you for mispelling ninja

  • Hayabusa = Peregrine Falcon.

    Just thought...yeah...in case anybody...*coughs*

  • Ryu is a Ninjya :D

  • Thats a fucked up version of the game, in the real one ninja is spelled correctly.

  • Pursit in tokyo? i thought it was pursuit

  • "ninjya"?? How the f*ck did Sega mess that up ?!

  • Oh god.........rockin toons from the masters system yeah

  • "ninjya"?? whoa...spelled it wrong!

  • Technically ninja and ninjya are both correct transliterations of 忍者. the second syllable of the word is made up of the Japanese characters じ "ji" and ゃ "lowercase 'ya'".

  • While that may be true, they spelled it right on the title screen but spelled it wrong on the opening splashes for each chapter? That's pretty terrible.

  • Where is the Dungeon Bee! boss ?

  • besides, if they just look played through the game before they sold it, they might have seen the problem

  • Yeah im not much for saying in the comments"lol he/she just said"insert awesome ceatch phrase here"but the"HOW THE FUCK DO YOU SPELL NINJA WRONG thing was halarious.

  • Comment removed

  • So I guess its not a question of correctness but a matter of consistency. And usually when something is that glaring it can speak to laziness or inattentiveness on the part of the original makers of the game.

  • @ProtonJonSA Unforgivable imo.

  • Ryu whipped out his well-endowed sword...

  • well the J is pretty umm... horizontal to the Y right?

  • diagonally upward left >_>;;

  • "He whipped out his dragonsword, which is also endowed with such powers"

    Ninja erotica? O_o

  • "The easiest"?? oh yeah, you mean they got a lot of the bull shit that made the others Ninja gaidens frustrating and restarted and less fun??.

this one is actually the funnest in my opinion.

the control is the best. i love how well in he controls on this one, not as stiff.

BTW, game was made entirely in japan, so spelling errors were a lot more common then.

  • Ninjya? NINJA - HOW THE FUCK DO YOU SPELL NINJA WRONG!?!

Yeah, definetly top-quality translation... Jesus Christ...

  • PURSIT in Tokyo?! PURSIT?!

  • "NINJYA GAIDEN"

  • How the fuck do you spell ninja wrong

  • I don't think that's nessesarily a mispelling. にんじゃ = "nin jya", but yeah it's uncomfy. It's just an alternative spelling?

  • Oh nevermind, it was explained. Anyways, NG Sega looks..alright?

  • i think this game is full of mistakes. they spelled ninja wrong, also, pursuit at the end is spelled wrong.

  • Ninjya ninja HOW THE FUCK DO YOU SPELL NINJA WRONG!!!!!!!! Proton jon ur freakin hilarious

  • i laughed to jon like 5minutes before i could continue watching xD

  • Well, if you think about it, this game could come first in the series. Like.. Ryu's dad goes to America while Ryu's still in Japan saving his village from the Shogun of darkness. As soon as his father gets word of Ryu's heroicness, he says "I've made up my mind" & sends Ryu the letter saying "I'm going to have a life or death duel.." and thus, that's how it all begins. Seriously, the real timeline is:

    Master System

    Ninja Gaiden 1

    Ninja Gaiden 3

    Ninja Gaiden 2

And I don't have enough char. to ex

  • Maybe it's a side story, oh wait.

    NINJYA GAIDEN GAIDEN!

  • Hey, next time you need voices for a plot that's like a bad fanfiction, give me a call. I'd really like to do one of those! :D

  • Aren't you too busy being under attack by the evil forces of Ganon?

  • Eh, it's all right, the King's headin over to Gamelon to aid him anyway. I just hope nothing happens to him...

  • Remember to send Link if you don't see him in a monyth

  • "Ninjya? nin- HOW THE FUCK D YOU SPELL NINJA WRONG?!?!?"

    XD ROFLMAO

  • "the Bushido has been stolen." So does this mean that samurai all around Japan are suddenly going to start acting in greed and self-interest and betraying their lords?

    Wait, what?

  • im playing this on the psp and it's better then the nes ninja gaiden graphically and gameplay

  • where did u get it?

  • the emulator or the rom

    emualtor is masterboy for psp

and just google master system roms

  • What's with all the gay undertones in this game?

  • did they even attempt to edit this game because whoever did the writing clearly doesn't speak english as a first language.......or at all

  • Proton jon is not afraid of ninjas

  • "Pursit in tokyo" ? isn't it Pursuit? XD

  • lol they survived long enough to die

  • y did they spell it wrong

  • lol. "survived long enough to die"

  • lol Ninjya Gaiden XD lolol

  • persit in tokyo

    (persuit)(tokiyo)

  • bushido also means samurai spirit in jp

  • Ninjya Sidestory,Dragon goes after the Samurai Spirit...Literal translations for the win!

  • The music in this sucks, whereas the NES Ninja Gaidens had fantastic music. That seems like the biggest decline of all.

  • BANG COCK DANGEROUS

  • ryu: c'mon don't be a sellout.

Jon: a sellout?? what about ur little sellout huh for the master system?!

    Ryu: you---wouldn't---dare...>:(

    XD

    awesome video!

  • There is one on the game gear as well

  • how he got those clipz of ryu lol datz calssic

  • this actully is my favorite ninja gaiden lets play of p.jons

  • Ninjya Gaiden, lol.

  • Well, at least Ryu doesn't get shot in the first chapter of this one.

  • Is it me or is Ryu's sword REALLY small in the chapter denotations at the beginning of a chapter?

  • Not exactly. It's at an angle, looking towards Ryu, so the sword looks like a dagger, but it isn't.

  • the master system's version of this game is my personal faveorite and my dad's too. but it's not as fun as the sonic for the master system.

  • what the hell are you talking about?

  • I like the bigning music

  • NINJYA

  • Quit trying to understand the plot! Your brain will explode!

  • really espicially nija gaiden 2 for the nes that plot is just plain retarded

  • Pursit in Tokyo FTW!

  • Pursit? It means Pursuit, right?

  • Indeed, like doomduckie said, ninja is spelled にんじゃ in hiragana. It breaks down exactly like explained two comments below:

    に Ni

    ん N

じ Normally Shi, but pronounced as Ji due to the " mark

ゃ And this is a ya, but because it's written small, it connects with the Ji to make a Ja.

The same goes for Jo and Ju, which in Hiragana and Katakana are actually writt
