People, I just don't know how to put it but the whole story line of this magnificent game didn't came from fantasy alone - almost 70%of it, no, 90+% of it actually came from reality as we know it, sorry to disappoint you. The game creator, however, just added some spice which made it seem to have come from imagination. Parallel worlds, reptites, man vs reptites, gods vs reptites, magic - name it, EVERYTHING the game is a part of our reality, do some research :)
@italiaboy1123 i'm not so sure a sequel is even possible. they finished the story off so well here, how can you make a viable rebound that doesn't completely shell shock the entire story? if they do a new one, they will probably do what they did with this game after chrono trigger and make an irrelevant(though also totally relevant) spiritual successor. and hey, if they do what they did with this game, i have no complaints about that :)
@italiaboy1123 It probably crossed their mind. Thing is, you need more than a man, you need a team, inspired and patient and passionate, that creates a harmony, a chemistry amongst themselves and that harmony flows into the game as they pour their heart and creativity into it, and a classic, a legend is born. This only happens once every few hundred games. Treasure them.
because it will ruin the story and experiences of the game. it will be very hard to recapture everything from it and putting it in an anime. IMO i dont want that. I'd rather keep chrono cross exactly as I remember with no change.
There is also "OSV" which means "Original Sound Version". You will see that for older games on the SNES and NES. It just means that the music is taken directly from the game as opposed to being arranged for a live symphony. But I guess since the sound quality of modern games is so much higher, they just call it a soundtrack like a movie.
@owenitzura Yeah, this is the "tragedy of the human race" song, when they discover FATE was in fact PROTECTING them, and that their great grandparents are actually scientists from the future created by Crono and company.
In real life the spy game is primarily woman's work; NEVER, date a chick who has worked for the CIA. Chances are she's taken it in the back door from some camel humper. FOR AMERICA!
Espionage is over glamourized though; in real life, the spy world is a sex game. People spill their guts during pillow talk. The most successful spy of all time was in fact a man from the Dominical republic surnamed Rubirosa; he's the origin of the "latin lover" stereotype. He bedded former high ranking politician's ex wives, and even obtained sensitive U.S. secrets that way. Very few men are willing to screw old cows, after all; that is why he succeeded where others failed.
@stardingo747 in the espionage game, when the killers get sent in? That usually means something went horribly wrong, OR, a government is trying to send a message. In the spy game, murders are never hush hush like in the movies, they tend to in fact be VERY public, media circuses in fact. Killers are only sent in either to intimidate, or to clean up a mess.
Didn't this song play when Lynx made all his revelations? About how FATE in fact PROTECTED humanity? I think it plays right before the fight with FATE.
@imgonnaeatamoose Actually, and, I don't mean to start an argument but, the evil me is probably impecably groomed, like Christian Bale's character from "American Psycho." And, he probably works as a Mossad Assassin; that is probably the evil me.
@stardingo747 According to some theories, every difference in your life leads to another dimension, even if it's something as minor as hesitating to pronounce a word for a split-second longer. If that's true, there's got to be some universe where you've made what you consider to be the 'wrong' choices.
Holy shit... I know I can't be the first to notice it, but I'm picking up the Ocean Palace from CT in there. I can't believe I JUST noticed that now... took me long enough. XD
Yasunori Mitsuda is especially prone to using leitmotifs (especially between Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross, one being a sequel to the other). Good thing his work is exceptional. :P
@limeownsj00 you forget a game called radical dreamers is a sequel too of chrono trigger and this song . viper manor and star stealing girl are originary from radical dreamers
No this song was also used while on the sea map, right? I remember because I used to keep my game on that scene a lot and this is the most familiar piece of music I know. I'm almost sure of it.
mmm im not sure maybe you hear it once you get to the dead sea when watching geddon tower from the distance, or when belthezar reveals the truth about the dragon god, serge, kid and harle.
These songs seem to do that very often, This composer has an amazing way to invoke people's feelings through his music, I believe that's the true glory and triumph of a gifted writer
Yeah, it was probably the most amazing plot twist I've ever experienced on an RPG. The Dragons were actually against humanity, while FATE was our defender. Still, FATE was a complete jerk, a very sinister supercomputer XD
When you realize than the core of FATE was the Prometheous chip, AKA Robo which Lucca developed... Its gets even weirder... the gentle and caring Robo sort of becoming the badass Lynx...
Prometheus was NOT the core of FATE. Robo was installed as a safety measure hidden into FATE, and when you go to the computer in Chronopolis, FATE finally discovers it and formats it.
It is poetic, since Prometheus stole the fire from the gods to give to humans, and Prometheus in the game protects the Frozen Flame.
Amen to that. Japanese role playing games often incorporate random elements of Greco Roman mythology, but the way they did it in Chrono Cross is some of the best. Even with my little knowledge, I understood the metaphor about FATE and Prometheus. Simply amazing.
@aquishix Chrono Cross was mostly Celtic mythology though; the idea of "otherworlds" is Celtic, not Greco-Roman myth. Read about Celtic otherworld travels, I believe a famous mythic figure is Fergus McRoth or something.
Wrong. The Dragons were against humanity. They were originally the Dragon God of the Reptite Dimension. The Dragons HATE the humans because of what we are doing to the planet, and they want to exterminate us.
FATE, as Belthazar himself says in the game, is the protector of humanity. But it dreams of creating a new species based on itself, and evolving using the Frozen Flame.
And the Time Devourer, well, it just feeds on time-space continuum, thus destroying everything and everyone.
wasn't the oppose? Dragons were against us, Fate was in our side as it was FATE who sealed the dragons and the time devourer ultimately is the fusion of lavos with the dragons.
Yes; Dark Serge, Lynx, FATE... all awesome by my standards! lol :) Love the whole back story on FATE for some reason. Must be because of all the crazy plot twists involved.
This piece reminds me bigtime of Xenogears. Especially in the floating city (haven't played either game in a long time...) - Has that ethereal, cosmic quality to it
