  • Love this band!

  • @elisamcbride It was your stepmom I knew - Janice. She was great friends of Phyllis whose husband was the singer for April Wine.

  • im only 22 and i love this music.hmmm i miss me Long Hair

  • What a great era to have lived...this music lives on for generations. I remember "cruising" Yorkville Ave in my '66 Healey convertible on a Saturday night. Took several hours to go the about the 1 mile distance..and that was the whole point of being there. Live Toronto band music coming from ever coffee shop along the way. Toronto was the music capital of the world at that time....incredible bands like this Bob..what a voice..I loved you....I miss you.

  • What a voice! What a great band!

  • Hi there-thanks very much for that. I am aware of the new album/dvd-I've had it for quite sometime already-it's excellent!

  • This is incredible is there any more vintage footage of Lighthouse when McBride was still in the band? I have seen some footage of them live with Crowbar featured in the Canadian pop Music of the 1960's dvd, that appears to possibly be from Massey Hall around 1971ish?

  • Tha gaol agam ort! Love you forever Dad! R.I.P.

  • ''these guys should have been at woodstock us canadian bands are underrated its un irory''

  • I had the distinct pleasure of interviewing some of the boys last friday a show called Liquid Lunch on that channel.com

  • The good old days , Talent - great tunes , no rap

  • Been going to concerts since 1970.Seen the Stones ,CSNY ,Joni and santana etc.Saw Lighhouse in 72 on acid and again in 2005 (straight) .I still have the fondest memories of this band .

  • Crazy about this vid . Sure wish we had more vid's from back in the day.

  • This is great footage that I have never seen. I saw Lighthouse at Rock the Park in London Ontario last year with CCR and The Doobie Brothers. Most of them live in Toronto and London. RIP Bob McBride. You were one of the greats. Out of the 5,000 plus albums I have One Fine Morning and Thoughts of Movin' on are two of the best.

  • yup..great song.... girls..post your dads song..pretty city lady.. ..hi Skip..will catch you guys in October in Edmonton

  • Take note of one of the horn players (you don't get a good look on this video). It's Howard Shore...now the biggest movie music producer in Hollywood. Look at the music credits at the end of every blockbuster (Lord of the Rings comes to mind). Nine out of ten times the producer is Howard.

  • I can't stop watching this awesome video!! I LOVE BOB MCBRIDE!! The best Lighthouse is the Bobby -era!! I can't find anymore Bob video's ANYWHERE!!! HELP!!! If you have any video's or know of someone who does, can you PLEASE post them. Myself and every BOB MCBRIDE fan would be forever grateful!! This is the only video I can find. HELP!!! Bob is the voice of Lighthouse and what a beautiful voice it is!

  • lmao nice shirt!!

  • Hey Elisa, I am from Jarvis,6miles from Pt Dover, where Lighthouse played @"the Lighthouse"countless times, and was considered The Band Of That Era. Your dad changed my life; now 45, +a musician my heart goes out to you.his talent and struggles are modern day epics for touring and aspiring musicians. I live now near Vancouver Bc, But hear his music almost daily. Are you a muscian? What was he like-i am moved by several stories here in utube by people who met him-yet yours stands out. Are you ok?

  • @WildjoeWilliams I am getting by. I do play some music and I can sing a little. My strong point is dancing.

  • Great Canadian band! Along with Cold Blood, 10 Wheel Drive, Rhinoceros, even the original Chicago Transit Authority....great jazz rock!!! Good sounds! Sure beats rap crap!

  • If anyone has more Bob McBride videos like this, PLEASE post them. Anything!! Thanks 69Lovett. It was so nice to find this video and to see Bob's handsome face and here his beautiful voice again. I listen to Lighthouse almost everyday. The whole world misses you Bob!!

  • really? For some strange reason I don't believe that. (Only because people on youtube lie all the time) I'm not calling you a liar, but I'm just saying most people won't believe you.

  • Wow - what a great performance. And Larry Smith on valve trombone totally rocks !

  • I've been a Lighthouse fan for many years. Never occurred to me to look on You Tube for a video. Thanks. Very much appreciated

  • ONLY Bob McBride or Mick Jagger could pull off a purple shirt with a butterfly on it

  • One of the best Bands of the 70's the LIVE disc in their collection is what Lighthouse is and was about. On that disc Eight Miles High is simply the best version of the classic tune ever..yes better than The Byrds.

  • These guys used to play at my highschool in Toronto. I'd pay a lot of money to find a CD with their version of "Eight Miles High". I've looked everywhere. Any thoughts!

  • Hi I might be able to get this for you if you haven't already found it. I am Bobby's daughter. I can maybe get someone in Toronto that was my dad's friend to get you some music and burn it to a disc from an album. Let me know.

    Elisa

  • Hi Elisa

I've been a Lighthouse fan since the band first started out, with your dad's time with the band being my favourite, and I've been featuring Lighthouse's music on various radio shows I've hosted here in South Africa since the early 80's. Do perhaps know of, or where I can find some live footage, dvd or video, of the band, other than what's available on YouTube?

    Cheers.

    Leon.

  • @Leonecon Not sure Leon. Nice of you to say such kind things about the band. I have albums etc. from way back. Hard to find stuff.

  • Hi Elisa. How is your mom? Well I hope. Please tell her "hi" from Phil (from Bellwood).

  • I certainly will.

  • @ElisaMcBride Hi. Out of the 5,000 plus albums that I have I only have a few that I wanted signed. The first album that I ever bought was One Fine Morning. Bob signed it Bob Mcbride...lead singer. I thought, no s*** Bob. This was in 1992 when they were at Wonderland Gardens in London Ontario. I've mentioned to Skip and Paul that I would love for them to do a live version of Bob's song "Seasons" if this was possible. We all miss Bob. The music will always keep his memory alive.

  • @philgexile Did you know my mom? Her name is Cindy.

  • Might I add that I am Shawn, the sister of Elisa, and son to Bob :) Go daddy go!

  • I think Mairin and I are going to get shirts like Dad's and be really retro in his memory. xo

  • Elisa- I met two girls at a show in Hamilton in 92, front of the show at the stage next to us. They were Bob's step-daughters. One of the poor girls died a few years later from a peanut allergy? Was that you and your sister?

  • @timrodger1 That was my step-sister.

  • @ElisaMcBride Thank you Elisa. How is your other step-sister? they were cute kids, right up-front at the stage with us, I talked to your dad a little bit, Hoffert's son was there too......

  • @lilfobert I would like to talk to you, Shawn about your father. I know things you may not (all good) please say hello and drop me a line if you ever want to know how wonderful your father really was.......

  • @lilfobert where are you Shawn?!?! Jesus Christ!

  • @lilfobert

    Hi Shawn,

    I've been looking for you.

    Contact me through the website.

    Brenda

  • What a voice! What a song! Thanks for putting this song up!

  • Thank you SO MUCH for posting this video. I am a full-time music prof and am revamping my Rock History class for the Fall. I was surprised and pleased to see such a good video (and audio) of this great band.

    dr.joe

  • Lighthouse, fantastic. Bob McBride, one of the great singers, no question.

  • The show Rollin' was a good place to see our favourite bands. I remember seeing April Wine on that show. No Youtube back then for us music lovers........

  • the basist is my uncle!:D

  • What year did Bob die?

  • 1998

  • Man I love this song, great video. "Take It Slow" and "Hats Off To The Stranger" are hand in hand the best Lighthouse songs. Thanks for posting this video I have never seen it before.

  • I knew Bob. What a great voice! His demons just finally got him.

  • What a great band!! Did he just party too much??

  • Bob had a bad heroin addiction for many years. This led to all kinds of health problems and his eventual death. Too bad...he was a really good guy.

  • Wow, that's amazing to me. He seems to have it together in this video and managed to crank out great music all those years with Lighthouse. How do people do that, I mean how do people function under those circumstances..?! I also love that song "Sunny days" I love that line "sitting stoned alone in my backyard.." such a feel good tune!

    thx, bro!

  • Why did most top pop/rock & roll singers/groups in the 50s & 60s have a horn & orchestra section like Frank Sinatra and the manyLas Vegas-New Orleans type of singers from the 1930s to 1960s. I have always felt that the brass and orchestra section is the most beautiful powerful part of all styles of music. Chicago & Elvis Presley even figured that necessity out bringing it in his concerts. The Beatles, the Stones,Led Zeppelin & others should have done more with that section in their music.

  • Why is that other countries steal take the names of Canadian groups like Bush & Lighthouse which is some Gospel group. I look for these songs on limewire, etc and cannot find them but I find the other Bush and Lighthouse which has no connection at all with the original groups. That sucks not being recognized as the great originals.

  • Love this early 70s stuff along with Chicago,Bush,Janis Joplin,Three Dog Night,Blood,Sweat & Tears.

  • Wonderful stuff! Followed the band from the very beginning - never seen them live (fat chance of that in South Africa!)Thanks for this - I can now die in peace!! Any more Lighthouse????

  • Hi ya Leon, You can always pay us a visit here in Canada ..:) Wish I had more vintage footage to put up !!! Will keep looking though..PL

  • Hi there. Thanks!I wish I could - I'd love to visit Canada someday. You guys have some of the best bands in the world! I hear there's a new Lighthouse DVD out. Any idea where I can get it from?

  • Have not seen that around either..

Will let you know when I do..

    PL

  • Would be very grateful. Thanks a lot.

  • @Skaganya Yes, it's 40 Years of Sunny Days.. available from Universal..

  • I saw them many times around Ontario, Canada. I booked them into my hometown once, and 4000 people turned out to see them! I eventually became a friend of Bob MacBride and was very sad when he died.

  • @Skaganya

Just to let you know that the new Lighthouse CD/DVD is called 40 Years of Sunny Days. It's available on Lighthouse's website.

  • Met Bob Mcbride a few years before he died.I met him on a funeral and he was driving a limo for us on the funeral. We talk for an hour at the church and he talked about his life as a rock star and he also gave me his autograph. He was impress with me when I first saw him at the funeral and walked up to him and said as a joke, "Sunny Days". I knew it was him for sure, and he smiled at me and said "Thanks for remembering".It was a blast to talk to him.Sad he's gone.

  • Lighthouse has a new live DVD recorded at QMusic in Toronto.

  • Thanks, didn't know that.. will keep an eye out for it.

Do you have any info on it ? Release date etc. ?

  • I'm liking this one.

    Sunny days indeed.

Thanks for posting this....and thanks to your friend as well

  • Wow, this is amazing. I don't know how you got a hold of this clip. Got any more Lighthouse??

  • Believe it or not... I recieved this clip in a Christmas card , send to me by a friend. I'm beginning to think there is a Santa Claus..:)

  • fuckin awesome! always great to see these old Rollin clips especially since there's not a lot of Lighthouse stuff out there!
