Affirmed-Alydar, bar none, the greatest rivalry in thoroughbred racing history. They were both great, johnny, head and shoulders above the rest in their class. Affirmed was a hair quicker of the two and that just gave Affirmed that much of a tactical advantage on the race track over Alydar.
