I think they use some over dubbing in Studio too, it sounds to me like there are more of them. What ever the case, I think they are fantastic.

the artist change the entire concept of the song and even then sound awesome, apocalyptica for example don't use voices or drums and sound very good, i've listened orquestal versions too and in chorus and sound great too, my point is that the matter of the originality it's not about replace instruments or change the lyrics, it's more like using your our sources and creativity to create your version, not just sustitute the notes of the string to the voice and espect that be good.
