  • Still love this just as much as when i first heard it. Top Tune. Cheers Wayne from Essex.

  • songs co-written and produced by Steve Jolley and Tony Swain who were the 'big boys' back then for this type of stuff, they also worked with Imagination co writing and producing the superb "Body Talk" Steve Jolley got banged up for kiddie fiddling and Tony Swain is still working in the music Industry. come back Total Contrast, how I miss music like this.

  • Quality British Soul Music! It’s amazing how we live in different times. Back in the day, those mainstream radio stations like Capital and Radio One wouldn’t touch black music. You would only hear this kind of music on the pirates. Would love to know who the engineer and producer were on this track. Fantastic arrangement and production.

  • ol school g shit

  • 4got about these up there with Second Image/Light of the World, (early) Level 42 but unlike those they arrived on the scene a little bit late and got swallowed up by acid house etc if theyd come out 80-83 it'd been a different story...

  • Finest!

  • Some of the best music of the day .

  • Brilantissimo!❤

  • Black music always gonna be the best!

Some things todays repetetive worthless music missing:

Rythm, soul, a song, good vocals....

  • How can I program this kind of a bassline? What synthesis wiil work best? Subtractive or additive? What Waveforms would you use to build the sound for the bassline?

  • This hit got the stage by storm. Still is today in our eyes.. Thanks.

  • Such good times...back in the dayzzzzz, GOOD funk ...crazy synth/bass, Yamaha DX 7 sounds and some others great bands...Loose Ends, Alexander O Neal, Sherik, Sheila E, Full Forces, Twenty for seven....

  • cracking tune from 1985! Great to dance to!

  • Both Total Contrast and The System = LOVE!!!

  • Great track. Total Contrast were HIGHLY influenced by The System. If you like this check outThe System . This Is For You, is a great track.

  • Quality year 1985, quality track, quality album, quality band.....ash1234v, Paris.

  • This izz my jam from back in da dayz !!!

  • Wooo that's one of my favorite jams, I still listen to it after all these years. In fact old school songs don't bleed your ears like the new school.

  • best song they done was takes a little time

  • @Juillet14 this bleed my ears

  • Has to be one of the best bass synth lines ever! Pure genius production too. Blatantly sequenced, but who cares? I'm bored with all these guitar bands singing odd songs about odd things - come back TC! (The 'Jodi' 12" is a real classic too - great words, great song).

  • can you uplaod waitin in vain had it on 12" but it got snatched

  • And antoher killer track from Total Contrast. The 12'' rocks BIG TIME!!!

  • This was the jam!!!!!!!

  • Thank you, Sven '86! Where have you been?

  • love it my older bro used to rock dis so hard...

  • total contrast un des meilleurs groupe funk!!!jkiff!!!

  • Thanks for the memories. How about the track called 'What you gonna do about it' Man, I love these tracks then. Thanks again

  • I remember seeing them live perfoming in Cartouche, Utrecht, the Netherlands. All the songs from their first record. Awesome, live their voices sounded better than on the record.

  • chromeo name checked them as an influence

  • Got the LP and the 2nd album on cassette! Big UK club following (I was a convert from the first time I heard "Takes a little time"). "Jody" is on 2nd album, "Sunshine" on 1st. Check out "Whay you gonna do about it" on the 1st LP - once heard, it will stick! LB4RB

  • Is this album available in cd format? I LOVED this cd back in the day. Wasn't there a track off this album titled "Sunshine"? Maybe I'll have go buy a turntable and get this on vinyl if it's my only option. : )

  • Yes it is, it was released on 'London records'...

  • this song is fantastic! This is my introduction to total contrast and i am impressed!

  • I'd love to see the vid for 'Takes A Little Time' Anyone got it?

  • Total Contrast at its finest...like a meteor that shone so brightly then faded. Won't forget them though the songs were awesome. Thanks for the vid.

  • Let's not forget "kiss" I swore that there was a video for that?! They even played that song to death on Soul Train in early 88.

  • Thank you very much! Total Contrast were a great mid-80s British duo that made only 2 albums to my knowledge, this single comes from the self-titled debut showcasing production talents from Nigel Martinez & Steve Harvey. Has anyone got videos for their other hits? - "what you gonna do about it", "takes a little time", "Jody" & "sunshine".
