Would like to have your suggestion as to a drill that would emphasize an offensive player with ball dribbling past a defender and then shooting. In other words getting past a defender and opening a possible pass or shot on goal.
football in england is played by almost all children although less so by the wealthy families (upper class) rugny tends to be the sport of the upper classes. there are so many professional footballers in england that come from working class backgrounds, and high crime areas in big cities, and if they didnt make it as a footballer they would probably be in trouble with the law as alot of ther school friends end up doing or they would end up working a norm,al job scraping a living.
I think that one reason countries like Brazil, Germany etc. are better is because of the age they start playing "serious" soccer. In other countries it seems like their 5 year olds are competing as serious as our 12 year olds. Our kids that are that young it's just kick the ball and the parents cheer. One thing to help developed soccer on America is teaching the youth at very young ages about actual soccer not just kicking the ball into a net.
US National team will always be improving!! And the shots in a game wouldn't most likely be from this close because there would be defenders and shooters wouldn't be unopposed... except for that goal that they scored yesterday in the Netherland game! lol
he is trying to block.. lol.. very hard from 3 feet away.. hes not gonna hurt his teamates.. im sure in a game.. the other team would not get that close without being owned lol
The USA cannot beat a team whose players believe in winning as a means of survival. That is why they will never succeed. In the global scale soccer is an escape sport. An escape from being poor and etc. But in the US it is just a sport. The US and its players arent fighting to survive like a young Brazilian player plays to get out of the slums, they just play because they enjoy soccer. When a player has the belief that if I lose it is back to the soup kitchen, talent loses out to determination.
this is true. but give us some credit. we arent a nation that lives for soccer, yet we still played a game like we did against brazil, and we beat spain
you can't make sweeping generalizations like that. americans have dreams too, and it takes mounds of determination to come to the national level. you cannot say that nobody in america who plays soccer uses it as an "escape" sport.
@bukefalas While I agree with the point you are trying to make, let's not fool ourselves...not -every- great player is born in a slum, who claws their way from the bottom. Many 'modern day' players come from middle class families, or go into football -probably- because because their parents are involved, EVEN OUTSIDE of the U.S.A. For example Kaka, & Daniele De Rossi. Also I believe that there is a new found belief in the U.S.A. that the team can compete with 'big teams' post Confed. Cup 2009.
@bukefalas how can you so blatently blame only the US for that attitude? It sounds like the root of your argument is wealth. What about countries like Belgium, England, France, Sweden, Denmark, Holland" those players arent fighting to get out of the slums. and FYI, Clint dempsey came from a very poor life in texas. So dont act like american players play for nothing
@bukefalas if that is so, then why are the english, french, or germans good at soccer... They're all high quality countries who play the game for fun aswell, yet they do fine..
@bukefalas I think US doesn't win because of there talent level and the coaching in the U.S. sucks. Most coaches don't know shit about soccer, thats the problem. Just because the US is a wealthy nation doesn't mean that the players are rich, I think US players want it just as bad as the rest. Brazil isn't consistently a powerhouse because there poor. There players are extremely talented and they grow up on the sport, much like the US w/ Bball. African nations never dominate, let they are poor..
@bukefalas what about teams like England? Most of those top internationals come from wealthy families. Those lads are not playing to get of the streets son.
@fmcginnis08 are you sure, most footballers come from a normal family and not wealthy ones. name me some wealthy families that have produced footballers
@daveyscorer1 What wealthy families are you referring? How would somebody even go about doing that? First you'd have to define what wealth is, then you would have to say the country you are referring to.
@bukefalas I don't think that is the same story for everyone. Secondly, it's not the fact that USA doesn't have the heart for the game, cuz we do, it's the fact that our society spends more of our time with the tv rather than practicing every hour of the day with a soccer ball. It that doesn't go for everyone in America, and that doesn't go with just Americans. The largest factor is that soccer/ futbol isn't the number 1 sport here. 90% of the world is basically soccer/futbol focused.
They are one of the worst soccer teams in the world, and let me tell you why this team will never succeed. In America the sports that are "escape" sports are basketball and football. By escape I mean these are sports people turn to to escape from poor economic status. Soccer is not one of these sports in America. Soccer is a sport reserved more for those of an middle to above average wealth class.
Right after we beat the African champions, European Champions, and nearly beat Brazil 3-2, you call us "one of the worst soccer teams in the world" We are ranked 14th by FIFA out of 200 something countries. The USA is improving but we are certainly not top 10 in the world, but to say we are one of the worst in the world is stupid. FUCK BRAZIL
Are you kidding me? Yea because the US cared so much about winning those tournaments, and other teams actually have players who are being payed millions of dollars to play for prestigious clubs. Those other teams hardly tried to win. Why don't you go look back at World Cup 06.
yea we really suck. out of the tons of countries in the world we make it the world cup usually. we had a great showing against brazil and played hard even though we lost. and we beat spain who are the current euro champions
i love usa soccer but not many on the team could play in a primier division even donovan. but i hope they continue to play well together and hope they finish strong in 2010
Donovan could make it its just he hasnt got any offers, he may have but just didnt take them. i could see him playing there. Cause in the premier league they have there sorry players every here and there. but some on this team could make it there.
yea there are some good players that play over seas from here. donovan already went to bayern but got sent back. hes a good player i just dont think he is physically strong enough. but i definately think some 1st league team should invest in jozy hes got all the tools.
thats why micheal bradley plays in the eridivisie, and dempsey plays in the EPL, and altidore play in La Liga and Adu plays in Portugal? get yoru facts straight
hey dude i said not many could play overseas get your reading right. and bradley plays in germany with his dad get your facts straight before you start givin out shit.
oh yea and jozy is no longer with villareal he hasnt been with them in months. and adu is in monaco on loan not sure if he is gonna sign with them but he played there all season.
does your performance on the practices count on your possibilities to start in a match or do they pick starters based on game performances on their clubs?
I'm sure this was mostly for the press
