AFI isn't some fucking pity party, no matter how depressing the music was it taught you to embrace your self, your feelings, and helped you discover new found confidence in yourself. Its about being in control, enjoying your life they way you want all while experiencing the best music ever written.

Anyone who calls AFI an emo band is either 17 fucking years old or has lived under a rock for the last decade. I'm 25, and growing up emo bands were shit like Dashboard Confessional and Saves The Day.

I saw AFI on this tour and ones before it. This band made me who I am today and no matter how many changes this band goes through theres more meaning and care crafted into the music then any other band you know.

This band is legendary and should be embraced with open mindedness. The only people who take time to call this band "emo" and anything other than a rock band are fucking children who don't know shit and need to grow up.

AFI is, in fact, hardcore punk.

However, their emo influences are UNDENIABLE. You can try to argue that all you want, but one look at Davey's lyrics and attitude prove that the music is dripping with raw emotion.
