Edwin Edwards ruined LOSER-ANA (LOUSY ANNIE) for decades to come with his corruption. And the way he sabotaged Treen and Roemer throughout their terms as governor was disgusting. I couldnt have enough trust to reelect Edwards for a fifth term as governor, but I would certainly vote for him as a new mayor for New Orleans. He's done some good for Louisiana and he's not a racist and he is certainly a better possibility other than Nagin (don't get me wrong, hes a good guy, too) but i think that Edwards would be perfect for mayor of New Orleans

He wasn't rail-roaded in my humble opinion. But I'm a Republican with a mom from Baton Rouge who hates creepy sleazy Southern politicians. Having said that, and being of the opinion Bill Clinton deserves a prison sentence for perjury, Edwards has been in prison since October 2002. He has prostate problems and should be released. His debt to society has been paid. He was a crooked politician; not a Bernie Madoff. Why won't another crooked politician like, Baracko, pardon him?

I agree Edwards betrayed the trust. He took bribes. Unlike Bernie Madoff, no people actually lost their life savings. Unlike Bill Clinton & Baracko Bama, our national security hasn't been compromised. He's been an "in your face" rogue all this time and now he's doing time.

He's done almost 7 years in prison. I have a dad who's 80 with alzheimer's so I have a soft spot in GOP heart. Obama needs to commute his sentence and let him go home.

In my opinion when former governor Edwards was at his worst he was better to the people of Louisiana than any governor that succeded him. He was the givenest governor since Huey Long. He did share the wealth and was a blessing to the poor, and state workers. He didn;t do no more wrong than the rest, he was just singled out. And if I could pardon him he would have been 1o years before he went to prison.

Huey was an arrogant man. Just like Edwin. When he was murdered, he was in La. Capitol building (where he had NO BUSINESS, by the way since he'd become a US Senator some 2.5 years earlier). But Huey had an ego and was pushing La. state legislalation for his own benefit when Dr. Weiss (or his own Tommy-Gun wielding bodyguards) popped him in the hallway. I'll never agree that Huey was a good man. He was a nut case crook like his brother and had those Tommy-Gun bodyguard goons.
