My childhood and time in school were very dark days indeed (born in 1979). I'm British, my parents both had good jobs in the 1970's in the steel industry, we had good healthcare, cheap food (and not just the basics) and the rich-poor divide was virtually non existent. THEN, came Margaret Thatcher. Parents lost their jobs, thrown onto the dole cue, no industry. This was the 1980's when I had to have a tin bath in front of the fire. @kissarmyman500 I lived in the USSR and I can truly say there were bad times and good times. Some of the things the West says about it are true and many others are lies/exaggerations. Sure, I couldn't get Black Sabbath records easily but I never had to worry about getting kicked out of my house for non-payment of rent or about finding a job. Yes, I had to watch what I said but I could go as far as I wanted in education without paying a dime as long as I worked hard.

The soviets took my grandmothers farm beacuse her family had worked hard and had a little richer farm than some others. My grandmothers family needed to hide theirselves beacuse the soviets wanted to bring them to siberia. Some of my relatives from my dad side were executed, some sent to siberia just beacuse they were hard workers and loved their nation. Estonians.

It is like you are saying that the people in the german holocaust were there with all the bad people so it is ok to kill them. The famine was created by Stalin's Cult of Personality and his refusal to feed his people because of so called "shortages". My childhood and time in school were very dark days indeed (born in 1979). I'm British, my parents both had good jobs in the 1970's in the steel industry, we had good healthcare, cheap food (and not just the basics) and the rich-poor divide was virtually non existent. THEN, came Margaret Thatcher. Parents lost their jobs, thrown onto the dole cue, no industry. This was the 1980's when I had to have a tin bath in front of the fire. I'm no Stalinist, but I agree with Goulash Communism!

Stalin was a sick paranoic psychopath and he does not represent communism, only his own personality cult. Indeed he has killed millions more than Hitler but only due to the fact, that he simply had more time. Communism is not a failed utopia, it can be at least partialy realized, WITHOUT killing and deportation of the innocent.
If you think capitalism is the answer to a sustainable growth of the human society, i'm afraid you are very wrong....

@kissarmyman500 I lived in the USSR and I can truly say there were bad times and good times. Some of the things the West says about it are true and many others are lies/exaggerations. Sure, I couldn't get Black Sabbath records easily but I never had to worry about getting kicked out of my house for non-payment of rent or about finding a job. Yes, I had to watch what I said but I could go as far as I wanted in education without paying a dime as long as I worked hard.

@harpoonia6969 I was born under soviet occupation in Estonia. My parents grew up in those times, my dad was in soviet army 2 years. The soviets took my grandmothers farm beacuse her family had worked hard and had a little richer farm than some others. My grandmothers family needed to hide theirselves beacuse the soviets wanted to bring them to siberia. Some of my relatives from my dad side were executed, some sent to siberia just beacuse they were hard workers and loved their nation. Estonians.

comunism is the best and maybe the only way to controll the world fair. the problem is that it only works good in theory. when put in practice, people realise that they want to live as kings (rich people). we dont want to lower our living standards, although we can. Anyway i believe this lead, at least partially, to the idea of party vandguardism, and the feeling that after the revolution there would need to be a central, guiding force to help stop counter-revolutionaries. And after world-wide revolution there would no longer be any significent threats and the state would be able to dissolve.
