I hate Elvis Costello like cats hate water (this all springs from his treatment of his audience at The Maple Leaf Gardens in like 1978 or so ... I still want my money back for that concert, dammit) but this was a fantastic performance by Mr. Sexsmith.
2:03 Elivs Costello and Shania Twain both smile... like Ron really hit the note, the song, the feeling of it all. Great moment, because I think he really did.
can people, especially 'wealthy' music people not have a whip around and ease this man's finacial situation, he's never had a hit song and therefore is always struggling.
yet he has produced some of the greatest music ever put out there, and is covered by the biggest and greatest names in the world of music.
FUND him and give him breathing space, too not only continue, but to feel the reward of his beautiful hardwork!!!
No choreography or stylists. One man, one voice, one guitar and this is art. He captures the audience in the first few seconds and holds them to the end. Awesome job!
Written by Ron in 1995 then Rod Stewart covered this song on his "When we were the New Boys" album in 1998 and Feist in 2005 on her "Let it die" album - It is unfortunate that he is an acclaimed Canadian Song writer and performer but the "Suits" that collectively decide if one is "marketable" in their new flavor of the moment... have not given him the push that would be required to give him the recognition he deserves.
Oh Ron, haha. This guy just has what it takes. It's hilarious to watch him play and take a quick glance around the room, every guy is enjoying it and every lady is blubbering and reaching in their purse for tissues!
Ron Sexsmith just grabs you... Great musician, great song writer and a nice humble person. I hope he makes it back to Australia some time in the near future... would love to see him live.
This is an unbelievable performance. Masterful. The slight way in which he changes the melody at points without distracting from your memory of the original recording. Beautiful.
Yes, Elvis gave a lot of juice to Ron's first album, years ago, and has remained a big fan, while Ron's made a series of brilliant follow-ups. Making him one of the very top songwriters around who's always great value live.
This song breaks my heart and puts it back together

He's got such a Roy Orbison vibe about him - a truly great singer-song writer.

truly one of the greatest writers, voices, talents of the past decade - the fact he is so under-appreciated is a tragedy in itself

Wish I'd been there.
This is pure art. A guitar and a vocal. No where to hide.
Kudos to all the players.

He makes me think alot of Jeff Buckley - they both manage to make their voices soothing and huanting at the same time...
