  • This song breaks my heart and puts it back together

  • I hate Elvis Costello like cats hate water (this all springs from his treatment of his audience at The Maple Leaf Gardens in like 1978 or so ... I still want my money back for that concert, dammit) but this was a fantastic performance by Mr. Sexsmith.

  • @tehbunnei That was 78'. Time to let it go, no?

  • this is the first Ron's song I've ever heard!

and now he's my favourite artist!

  • 2:03 Elivs Costello and Shania Twain both smile... like Ron really hit the note, the song, the feeling of it all. Great moment, because I think he really did.

  • @6billiondeaths That's actually Sheryl Crow. The other female singer is Neko Case.

  • @northernjack64 ha you're right and I did actually know it was her eh, no idea why Shania Twain popped into my head - bad times!

  • He's got such a Roy Orbison vibe about him - a truly great singer-song writer.

  • I clapped at the end and then I realized I wasn't there. Then I watched it again.

  • I can't listen without tears falling ... ethereal, simply beautiful. Thank you Ron Sexsmith for your art.

  • A drop dead gorgeous love song. So good! Put earphones on and listen to the lovely guitar playing. Sweet. Beautiful.

  • had tears in my eyes.

truly one of the greatest writers, voices, talents of the past decade - the fact he is so under-appreciated is a tragedy in itself

  • if Roy Orbison had covered this, the world would have drowned in tears.

  • Absolutely adorable, sweet, sweet, love, love, love song sung from a secret place.

  • Beautiful, just beautiful .....

  • So lovely. One of the greatest singers ever.

  • No choreography or stylists. One man, one voice, one guitar and this is art. He captures the audience in the first few seconds and holds them to the end. Awesome job!

  • just .........beautiful

  • Very beautiful and soulful!

  • he starts to sing, press the first syllables through his mouth and i have tears in my eyes.

  • харесвам! :)

  • Thanks Ron, that was truly exceptional, a flawless acoustic performance,

  • just love this song can't wait till the 30th/ barbican

  • @nicse22

Ditto - only three more days! :-)

  • @nicse22 i went to that, amazing <3

  • Epic! Doesn't get the recognition he deserves...however, for that reason it means you are always able to buy a ticket for his gigs :))) every cloud

  • Wish I'd been there.

This is pure art. A guitar and a vocal. No where to hide.

    Kudos to all the players.

  • Written by Ron in 1995 then Rod Stewart covered this song on his "When we were the New Boys" album in 1998 and Feist in 2005 on her "Let it die" album - It is unfortunate that he is an acclaimed Canadian Song writer and performer but the "Suits" that collectively decide if one is "marketable" in their new flavor of the moment... have not given him the push that would be required to give him the recognition he deserves.

  • Oh Ron, haha. This guy just has what it takes. It's hilarious to watch him play and take a quick glance around the room, every guy is enjoying it and every lady is blubbering and reaching in their purse for tissues!

  • Howdja like to be outnumbered 65 to 1?

    What a dick.

  • this song is too much. i love it to death!

  • Ron Sexsmith just grabs you... Great musician, great song writer and a nice humble person. I hope he makes it back to Australia some time in the near future... would love to see him live.

  • Sexsmith has such an inviting singing structure.. twists and turns but warms my blood:)

  • ''SecretHeart'' Perfect song, perfect performance, recently I was watching it on TV

    thnks for the upload

  • He makes me think alot of Jeff Buckley - they both manage to make their voices soothing and huanting at the same time...

  • This is an unbelievable performance. Masterful. The slight way in which he changes the melody at points without distracting from your memory of the original recording. Beautiful.

  • Why would anyone listen to the various cover versions of this song? His voice, tone and style is fucking unmatchable.

  • That guy's either 40 or 14.

  • Just beautiful. Can't wait to see "Love Shines". Thank you for bringing such gems into our lives Ron!

  • Does anyone know the branche guitar Ron uses on this show?

  • Elvis has been so incredibly generous and supportive of young talent, such as Sexsmith. One more reason to admire him.

  • Trust Elvis.

  • A beautiful song by an amazing songwriter. I love Ron Sexsmith!

  • this song is felt by the heart thanks ron this is johnny cleanny. beautiful

  • goood oll days, member he used to jam with my dad in good ol port dalhousie

  • this song takes on so much beauty when he sings it. i love Leslie Feist, but its Ron's song and it belongs to him and his heart.

  • Ms. Crow looks awestruck, like she can't believe how good Ron is. Methinks he has a fan in Sheryl

  • Great song!

  • Doesn't seem like Sheryl is a fan from her body language.

Myself, I think Ron is the man...

  • the girl at 1:02 is in love lol

  • Yes, Elvis gave a lot of juice to Ron's first album, years ago, and has remained a big fan, while Ron's made a series of brilliant follow-ups. Making him one of the very top songwriters around who's always great value live.

  • Ron is excellent. This is what's so amazing about Elvis' career - championing good music wherever he finds it.

  • so beautiful!

  • I can hear Willie Nelson singing this song.

  • Great thought. Now that you mention it, I can, too.

  • Beautiful. I had not heard of Mr. Sexsmith until watching Elvis' show. It's great to hear new (to me) artists.
