Slowly, people ARE starting to realize what Fox and other media outlets are all about... It's time for the News to be News again. 3 part solution: 1. Every channel must provide a 1 hour News program WITHOUT COMMERCIALS. 2. News programs should not be rated by any Ratings system. 3. All News Channels live by the same rules, but are "Pay TV" for revenues as opposed to advertising.
yea, Fox argues that Obama doesn't know enough about Government!!! ARRGGHHHH!!! What do you think about about that Vice Presidential Canidate Sarah Palin?
i seem to recall seeing a piece about some gal doing political interviews in which she had notes written on HER HAND! ooh, what's her name again? maybe if i watch fair and balanced faux news, they'll make a big stink about her notes too... waiting. c'mon brit hume, let's see the fairness.
DUDE...if u was in that position...i would bring some notes too...damn..thats a LOT of stuff to just keep on the top of your head...and if the RULES say u can use notes...DAMN FOX NEWS
yes, fox news is not fair and balanced. they are right-wing leaning, some shows moreso than others.
but does noone acknowledge CBS, NBC, ABC and even CNN's left-wing bias as well?
what about that hour or howeverlong special that ABC did on Obama's healthcare plans without even covering the other side to the healthcare debate once?
The degree with which other networks are biased is no where near the degree with which fox is. Fox doesn't even attempt to be fair, the other networks have their fair share of mild bias but it's all with an attempt to stay balanced.
How many fox shows are hosted by democrats because all other networks certainly have conservative hosts.
He didn't call it an "unprecedented practice" he called it a "supposedly 'unpresidential' practice". He's making the same point you're making: that Fox News attacking Obama for using notes is unfair and ridiculous. You got it reversed. He was asking why Fox attacked Obama for using notes and said nothing about Bush doing the same. If it is wrong for Obama to use notes then it is wrong for Bush to use notes. If it is ok for Bush to use notes, then it is ok for Obama.
@warjikin No, it's not fair for Obama to use notes because he's a Democrat. Democrats aren't allowed to have any sort of help with their debates or whatever. Only Republicans are allowed to.

that's funny because before obama even opened his mouth he had 90% of the black populations vote. and your telling me CNN doesn't bash mccain? asshole.
Plus, lets get at what Fox is really saying, here. They're saying that children should NOT be taught how to avoid sexual predation and inappropriate touching! How fucking evil is that just so they can lie about Obama's position and try to make him look bad?
Selling out children and your soul for the right wing agenda...all while pretending he's a compassionate Christian. Makes me sick.
This really is one of the more idiotic criticisms coming from Fox "News".
Plus I heard McCain uses a DAY PLANNER! How un-presidential that he needs something to keep track of his schedule for him. He's clearly not ready to be president if he can't remember where he's supposed to be on his own without this crutch.
The public in general is very easily swayed. If people weren't "sleeping" they could read passed the bs of the media. I believe about 2% of what they show...if that.
And MSNBC doesn't do the exact same thing to the Republicans? Maybe Fox is just offering another point of view. Just because they don't agree with you, doesn't mean their opinion doesn't matter or is any less valid.
So you don't believe your child should know about inappropriate touching or if a shady character is hanging aroung the playground not to go with them?
Or if they are older, not to know about STDs and how to use a condom? Just because they are getting sex ed does not mean that abstinence isn't taught. The pics they show of STDs can scare a kid into thinking twice.
How many of us heard that if we kept our underwear on that we were okay?

Condoms are wart and herpes permeable. Young kids should be studying music and camping... not condoms!! As far as predators, parents need to address that with "The Kid Code" and schools stick to ABC's etc.
STD's are at epidemic levels. Oral sex transmits EVERY STD out there. Condoms are a household word, although men don't use them.
So condoms aren't perfect. Does that mean we ignore the fact that kids WILL have sex? Not every parent talks to their kids. Some don't have the facts either.
The best defense IS knoweledge. That is what schools are for.
It is a nice thought that kids only need focus on the good things. Unfortunately, life and some people don't care about what should be.
Some men don't use condoms because they don't believe anything bad can happen to them and women don't insist. Again, lack of knowlege.
Beyond that isn't it always better to have fact checked documentation that you could turn to in the case of a debate or press breifing situation rather then being forced to rely on the less then perfect human mind for it.
But in a rather rare bit of poor tasted clip editing don't you feel your emphasis within the press room situation you showed could have been more fairly presented
My question is... Did Bush know the question Gregory was going to ask? If not, how is it that he had specific notes that he used to answer that question?
Im a conspiracy theorist and that is exactly right. Bush only calls on certain people assigned certain questions and he has prepared answers. A REAL question would leave his retarded as stumped. Good looking out LiberalViewer!!
At 0:44 you mention FOX changing what Obama said to make there point. I saw that whole speech, Obama DID say that and he meant exactly what you see here. Obama even repeats himself when stating that! Fox does take it over the top though when showing the condoms! The best way is to research for your own. Don't have politicians back if you don't know what they believe in.
Duh. Fox "news" has always been a unfair. Whats the surprise? We know most conservatives are irrational in defense of their ideals, we can't expect them to change for the better. (Not that I'm saying most Liberals aren't about theres.) It seems like once you take either label, you've obligated yourself to defend any of its flaws, however obvious, against any attack, however logical. There's a reason the Fathers help political parties in contempt.
I am an advocate for your videos, but in this case I think your story gave some viability to the use of a notepad by Obama. When in truth, the argument that prepared people use notes.
Here is the saddest thing about these videos; In our world in which we have soldiers and other inocent people dying in iraq, children being forced to fight wars in Africa, and all these murders with in our country, a major news network is reporting things like, "Obama is a smoker" or "his middle name is Hussein" Why should it matter if Obama went to a Madrassa or if he's muslim (which he isn't for both) There are real issues, and one of our informers is just spitting lies. to me, it;s pathetic.

where in america "land of the free" are we supposed to get an unbiased opinion from the news "reporters"? They have to feed their families so they will say or do anything for money.
2. As to your 2nd question: No doubt they will smear most, whoever is the democratic frontrunner. Simple. So now, that's gonna be Obama, next week it might be Clinton.
I really enjoy your dissection of these vids with those details about the condoms and the pills, etc. Can you PLEASE KEEP DOING THAT?
It really, really helps me. It depressess the hell outta me too, but its better to know about FoKKKs, than to be ignorant.
1. YES a large number of viewers believe FoKKKs 'news' because these racist inbred redneKKKs can't see 'transparent' if you smash them thru a plate window! They're just too stupid! It's transparent to US, normal ppl, but to them? FoKKKs viewer are really dumb! They WANNA believe all the racist bullshit, because neoKKKon retards LIKE 2 b fucked up the ass by their leaders: secretly they're all POLITICAL FAGGOTS, look at Larry 'wide stance' Craig! Ok, ok, so HE IS the real gay in the village! ;)
I don't have a problem with fox news saying what the will about democrats, I do have a problem when they say they are fair and balanced though. They should just come out and admit to everyone that they are biased, xenophobic, and neoconservative news.
yeah i think that fox is biased and it is a shame people get their news
whether or not people think it is balenced it isnt
although i honestly dont think that he had a michael haden section on his notes when the person asked the question although bush would be dumb enough to need it
but i agree how about u stop watching fox and post a video with all false acusations so people will know what a joke FOX really is
What the FUCK, fox news?!? Bias is one thing... this is just sloppy and irresponsible "reporting." And honestly, who DOESN'T use some form of notes? Unbelievable.
So you believe that Fox nitpicks? When I look at the big picture I think you are nitpicking at Fox. All of the other top stations present an anti bush approach. Test it out, turn on the T.V. and watch CNN, MSNBC etc.. you'll always see a negative approach.
As far as this election is concerned, Senator Obama is my first choice, and there's not one Republican candidate who deserves our trust other than Ron Paul.
No matter what news agency you turn to for news each of them have a bias. Fox granted is biased toward the right, where the CNN-MSN contingent leans heavily left.
News agencies are just that. News agencies. Trust in your self to look at all view points and somewhere in the middle will be the truth.
That is true. But when you claim to be "fair and balanced" and then blast Barrack Obama for using notes when at the same time not saying anything about the President using them, well then you're just being hypocrites.
Not as sure about CNN, but MSNBC is not heavily biased towards the left, while Fox is practically propoganda for the Bush adminastration or whatever agenda they(Fox) wishes to advertise. Also, Fox then claims that they are "fair and balanced" which is a bald-faced lie!
You have raised a lot of good points in your liberalviewer series. However, there is a problem with comparing a debate with a press conference. The difference is that one is expected to be well versed in the major issues at a debate; with a press conference, it is generally expected that the speaker will refer to notes as there is a wider variety of subject matter.
Just for clarification, I'm not defending FOX news, nor do I criticize Obama.
For Fox devotees, transparency doesn't seem to apply to Fox in the same way that the physical light transparency of clear glass doesn't seem to apply to a squirt of water. It's like it just isn't relevant.
Just tonight, I was thinking to myself, "All of my friends continually go on about how biased FOX News is. I sure wish I had some examples!"
And, as I'm browsing around YouTube, I find this and other clips from LiberalViewer. I'm definitely convinced. How is it that FOX gets away with such blatant bias? Aren't news sources monitored by some... I don't know, board, or something, to uphold their neutrality?
I was being sarcastic, sorry. I try to look at both sides of the story then create my own opinion. The best we can do in today's day in age. Youtube is a pretty good political source. I don't trust Fox News or CNN completely. C-span maybe.

I am not going to play games with you concerning the definition of 'evidence.' My only point to make was that your attacks on fox news are redundant and petty, and that upon some closer self-examination you might find that you are not much better than they are.
Please don't bother pointing out the rhetorical holes in my comment, I'm not trying to convince anyone -- much less you, I can see how futile that would be. I suppose I should get over myself and stop leaving these comments. So I will.
Asking for evidence is not playing "games ...concerning the definition of 'evidence'" and I dont get why u would expect me to just accept claims that my vids are "redundant and petty" or, worse, your claim w/o knowing me at all that I am "pompous and self righteous." Rather than persuasion, your comment seems more just an expression of bitterness. I'm sorry youre in such a bad place emotionally and I'm sorry if I posted anything that hurt your feelings :-(
I am sorry for posting responses and messaging you, clearly, I am getting nowhere. You have supplied plenty of "evidence" for my statement, whether you agree with the terminology I used or not. You have spent a great deal of time attacking the inconsistencies and outright failures of Fox news, and I agree with a great deal of what you say, but it is no great leap in understanding to call what you have been doing "nitpicky."
Claiming there is "plenty of 'evidence' for [your] statement" without providing any actual evidence and making baseless personal attacks on me does not really add up to a persuasive argument on your part
I cannot believe, that is I am utterly astounded, that you would accuse fox news of being nitpicky in light of all of the videos you have posted tearing apart the most mundane aspects of Fox news' failures.
Your accusation about my "tearing apart the most mundane aspects of Fox news' failures" does not include any evidence, so I don't really know what you are criticizing. And, my important criticism of Fox's treatment of the notes in this video was not that Fox was "nitpicky" but that Fox gave disparate treatment to the use of notes by Obama and Bush at similarly "presidential" events
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
sorry dude... i mean i agree fox news is bullshit but my opinion of oboma was tarnished long before i saw this. also compareing oboma to bush... not the best way to support your claim

If I were David Gregory, or anyone in the White House press room, I'd find it severely disheartening and unproductive to see your hard worked, quote backed, though provoking question absorbed in detail by a highlighted spin sheet of notes Karl Rove made the weeks prior. Especially on these RARE press occasions.
Using notes on either debate or press conference is accepted. It shouldnt be a big deal. It is there job to know the issues but haveing those extras notes gives them stats and dates that can be hard to memorize.
If fox is going to bash the Dems in these next months, hopefully they can find more substantial evidence.
Isn't it interesting that we have a YouTube user, one who is obviously annoyed at and opposed to LiberalViewer, who goes by the handle "FairMindedUser" ? As in "Fair-And-Balanced Minded User" ?
"one who is obviously annoyed at and opposed to LiberalViewer" I'm neither "annoyed" or "opposed" at LV, in fact, I have great respect for him. I'm just taking the counter position as a matter of debate.
LMFAO! i saw that name and i was like omg there is a fuck nutt fer ya i wander what brilint thought would exit apon reading his post...oh yay...oh yay....
The other day CNN talked about a CBS Poll on "Experience" and "Change" they flashed Hillary's Picture to "Experience" and Obama's to "Change." The report ended with the conclusion that of the two Hillary was best for both experience and change. And I thought if this had aired identically on Fox, LV probably would have said it was an attack piece with a smear of Obama for being inexperienced.
I think this video is misleading because it attempts to make an apple to apple comparison of using notes at a <u>Presidential debate</u> where we learn what a candidate should know to a <u>Presidential news conference</u> where the President gives out info based on the most current information available (perhaps on notes). It's also misleading to say Bush had a Michael Hayden section of notes to answer a NBC news question.
There <i>was</i> a Michael Hayden section in the notes which is even more clear in the unedited news conference available at the link in the vid description. And, I do not hide that I'm comparing a news conference with a debate, tho I think youre providing a distinction w/o a difference. Both events require prepared speechs and answering questions about current events.
"There was a Michael Hayden section in the notes which is even more clear in the unedited news conference available at the link in the vid description" Really, I watched the video from the link and never saw any notes at all...
I thought they used a pool camera, so I it would all be the same video as C-SPAN. The July 12 press briefing IS still on the C-SPAN site, tho I can never get C-SPAN clips from that site to play for me. In any case, can't you trust me that the Michael Hayden section in the notes is even more clear in the unedited news conference? ;-)
sorry dude... i mean i agree fox news is bullshit but my opinion of oboma was tarnished long before i saw this. also compareing oboma to bush... not the best way to support your claim
HAHA like bush is fucking roll model *shakes head with arms crossed*
I'm not entirely sure whether this was addressed or not, but for those of you who are not experienced in debate, it's usually a good idea to keep a flowsheet of the arguments. Ergo, Obama's notes.
powerbookg. what's wrong with using notes during a debate you can't remember everything that was said and every fact, statistic and source. i would be surprised to find a canidate in a debate who doesn't use a notepad even your beloved GW.
He was giving a speech in response to an improptu question? Impressive that he read the reporters mind before the question occured to him and then formulated a response to it prior to the press conference.
Libertarianism might be on the horizon, but I find Ron Paul's views too isolationist, like pulling out of the UN. Also, I think his stance on abortion is very anti-Libertarian. I also disagree with him on other points, like welfare.
Republican sheeple thought process: "Well, them demon-crats should be all booky smart, so they shouldn't need them thar note thangs."

SantaCruzProLife 3 years ago

Hey! If Obama's using notes it shows that, even if he is inexperienced, he knows it and makes up for it, instead of being cocky and winging it.

I agree. I'm always hesitant to call my self a liberal, and I used to consider myself a conservative until liberal ideals were forced on me.
Now, I lean towards calling myself a moderate.

No matter what news agency you turn to for news each of them have a bias. Fox granted is biased toward the right, where the CNN-MSN contingent leans heavily left.
News agencies are just that. News agencies. Trust in your self to look at all view points and somewhere in the middle will be the truth.
hellcatdr 4 years ago
That is true. But when you claim to be "fair and balanced" and then blast Barrack Obama for using notes when at the same time not saying anything about the President using them, well then you're just being hypocrites.
OsirisLord 4 years ago
Not as sure about CNN, but MSNBC is not heavily biased towards the left, while Fox is practically propoganda for the Bush adminastration or whatever agenda they(Fox) wishes to advertise. Also, Fox then claims that they are "fair and balanced" which is a bald-faced lie!
larma7 4 years ago
You have raised a lot of good points in your liberalviewer series. However, there is a problem with comparing a debate with a press conference. The difference is that one is expected to be well versed in the major issues at a debate; with a press conference, it is generally expected that the speaker will refer to notes as there is a wider variety of subject matter.
Just for clarification, I'm not defending FOX news, nor do I criticize Obama.

I am not going to play games with you concerning the definition of 'evidence.' My only point to make was that your attacks on fox news are redundant and petty, and that upon some closer self-examination you might find that you are not much better than they are.
Please don't bother pointing out the rhetorical holes in my comment, I'm not trying to convince anyone -- much less you, I can see how futile that would be. I suppose I should get over myself and stop leaving these comments. So I will.
bleengrass 4 years ago
bleengrass,
Asking for evidence is not playing "games ...concerning the definition of 'evidence'" and I dont get why u would expect me to just accept claims that my vids are "redundant and petty" or, worse, your claim w/o knowing me at all that I am "pompous and self righteous." Rather than persuasion, your comment seems more just an expression of bitterness. I'm sorry youre in such a bad place emotionally and I'm sorry if I posted anything that hurt your feelings :-(
Thx 4 comments :-)

MaddOutProductions 4 years ago
I am sorry for posting responses and messaging you, clearly, I am getting nowhere. You have supplied plenty of "evidence" for my statement, whether you agree with the terminology I used or not. You have spent a great deal of time attacking the inconsistencies and outright failures of Fox news, and I agree with a great deal of what you say, but it is no great leap in understanding to call what you have been doing "nitpicky."
You are pompous and self righteous.
bleengrass 4 years ago
bleengrass,
Claiming there is "plenty of 'evidence' for [your] statement" without providing any actual evidence and making baseless personal attacks on me does not really add up to a persuasive argument on your part
Thx 4 comments :-)

I cannot believe, that is I am utterly astounded, that you would accuse fox news of being nitpicky in light of all of the videos you have posted tearing apart the most mundane aspects of Fox news' failures.
bleengrass 4 years ago
bleengrass,
Your accusation about my "tearing apart the most mundane aspects of Fox news' failures" does not include any evidence, so I don't really know what you are criticizing. And, my important criticism of Fox's treatment of the notes in this video was not that Fox was "nitpicky" but that Fox gave disparate treatment to the use of notes by Obama and Bush at similarly "presidential" events
Thx 4 comment :-)

If I were David Gregory, or anyone in the White House press room, I'd find it severely disheartening and unproductive to see your hard worked, quote backed, though provoking question absorbed in detail by a highlighted spin sheet of notes Karl Rove made the weeks prior. Especially on these RARE press occasions.

your final question should be which republican candidate will they smear the most? thats easy Ron Paul
wallpera 4 years ago
Using notes on either debate or press conference is accepted. It shouldnt be a big deal. It is there job to know the issues but haveing those extras notes gives them stats and dates that can be hard to memorize.
If fox is going to bash the Dems in these next months, hopefully they can find more substantial evidence.

FairMindedCitizen 4 years ago
I think this video is misleading because it attempts to make an apple to apple comparison of using notes at a <u>Presidential debate</u> where we learn what a candidate should know to a <u>Presidential news conference</u> where the President gives out info based on the most current information available (perhaps on notes). It's also misleading to say Bush had a Michael Hayden section of notes to answer a NBC news question.
FairMindedCitizen 4 years ago
FairMindedCitizen.
Thx 4 comments :-)
