I’ve Always wondered how Patrick Ewing and the New York Knicks might have done against the Utah Jazz in the NBA Finals during the 90's. I can imagine Patrick Ewing embracing the ball on the floor of the Delta Center just like Dikembe Mutombo did when Denver defeated Seattle in a shocker during the 1994 NBA playoffs and won that series. Patrick Ewing and the New York Knicks was freaking AWESOME!!!
And finally, one of my favorites... Game 3 of the 1996 playoffs vs. the Bulls, where Ewing hit a huge shot just before the end of regulation and then two big shots in the final minute or so of OT to bring the Knicks from behind to victory.
...Ewing's game-winning shots against the Heat in the 1999 playoffs, his return after being out most of the season in the 1998 playoffs vs. the Pacers (Game 3, I believe), his triple-double in 1996, his three-pointer against the Bulls in Game 7 of the '94 playoffs, Ewing's game winner off the backboard from the far baseline vs the Bulls (1997...same game as the dunk over Rodman), his monster slam vs the Nets (late 80s?), Ewing with the block and going end to end for the slam vs the Heat (1990).
Ewing will never get credit for actually being a *very* clutch player. The amount of game-winning shots he hit is endless. He missed a few too (like the finger roll versus the Pacers in 1995) but then again, so have all the stars. The Knicks would have been nothing without Ewing carrying them all those years. A few more for the list... game winner vs. Magic in the early 94-95 season, Ewing's rejection on Olajuwon in the 1994 finals (a different one from the one in the countdown)...
