Why is it that no one can sing a Bacharach song as well as Warwick can? Why does anyone else even try.

@motowngirl65 That's so not true, many song has been sung in different way, but what is different between Warwick and those many version because Warwick got a very special arrangement from Burt Bacharach & Hal David if you forget to metion an important name....

you think Karen Carpenter sung it worse ? on they long to be close to you ?

come on please look around... there're many sides of Burt, "Southern american gateway" wasn't sung by Warwick...

@motowngirl65 I didn' mean that Warwick didn't do a good job, on very opposite she did a great job, but if you like Burt it's just not fair if you think Warwick is Burt, she's only a part of his long music journey

Thanks for posting, I didn't know she did a version of this song I thinks she's the interpreter of the Bacharch/ David songs. I read she helped the original cast to sing the songs of Promises, Promises. Jerry Orbach, asked how do you sing this? Must have been difficult material

@MrJonathanSwift -- the story goes that Orbach was having a devil of a time with the song, and as he was leaving a studio rehearsal where he bombed on it, he ran into Dionne Warwick and asked her how she did it. She went to her producer and had a copy of her recording made for Mr. Orbach on reel-to-reel tape. (This was way back when there was no digital-mp3-CD-iPod-flashdrive or even cassettes.)
