  • Worst classic field ever. Want proof? Suave, Sun King, Perfect Drift, and Flower Alley all ran in this race in 2006, and Perfect Drift was 8th, Sun King 10th, Flower Alley 11th, Suave 1`2th....disgrace

  • This was supposed to be, actually the Travers, Afleet Alex's crowning achievement. Even though the Belmont 1.5 was enough to prove AA was a great horse among good ones. He would have demolished this field. All day, any day.

  • I have one word to say to this. GHOSTZAPPER. St. Liam is good but I will never forget how St. Liam drove him wide the whole race and he was still outrun by Ghostzapper. Good race though

  • @krazibello I have one horse for GZ.....Afleet Alex. Front runner versus stretch runner....I put money on AA every time.

  • and by the way, in the year of 2005 Santa Anita didnt have its synthetic surface at the time, so that couldnt be a Saint Liam Excuse.

  • the guy is right, Rock Hard Ten did defeat Saint Liam, It would of been a good one of Rock Hard Ten had run in the Classic

  • Rock Hard Ten did defeat Saint liam but so did four other horses you probably never heard of as Saint Liam finished sixth and clearly didnt fire on the Santa Anita synthetic surface. Saint Liam was a way much better horse than Rock Hard Ten ever was. Whoever thinks differently is clearly a biased Rock Hard Ten fan.

  • well yes, you do have a point, but you never know what could of happend if Rock Hard Ten were to run in that race, he was capable of winning the race, I mean, he did enough class to be in that level.

  • @cabalogia I was at Santa Anita for the 2005 Santa Anita Handicap when Rock Hard Ten beat Saint Liam, and Santa Anita most definitely did NOT have a synthetic surface. The first Santa Anita Handicap run over synthetic was in 2008.

  • i never knew he was euthinized, although i was never a big fan of him, i was cheering for choctaw Nation in that race.

  • i feel bad for him but i still dont think that he will have ever beaten rock hard ten if he had ran in the race

  • rock hard ten was nothing compared to smarty jones, so st. liam would have wiped the floor

  • and thats why smarty jones was retired after he got beaten by birdstone. they wanted to keep him from being beaten by birdstone again in the jim dandy and in the travers.

  • they actually retired him for the money,

  • the money. they also knew he would get beaten by birdstone in both races......again.

  • Rock Hard Ten beat Saint Liam earlier in the year in the Santa Anita Handicap, wiped the floor, I don't think so.

  • I was there , at the Breeder's Cup. As I watched Saint Liam win the Classic, it was an amazing sight! RIP.

  • RIP, Saint Liam. What has happened to the other great horses who ran with him? Where are they now?

  • RIP Saint Liam
