  • I'm confused about my range. I had nice rich full tone in my lower notes liek a dramatic mezzo, and in my middle I sound like a mix of dramatic and lyric mezzo, but I have the upper range of a lyric, which is a few notes higher in range than the dramatic mezzo.

Can anyone help me figure this out?

I've been cast in a lot of lyric roles, but six dramatic roles as well, like The Countess in Queen of Spades.

I'm 18, but I've had a lot of training and try to put passion into every song I sing.

  • @Poet2916 You really won't know until you age a bit... the voice changes a lot for women around your age, and really won't settle fully until you are about 35, which you probably know. It's frustrating to wait, but no matter how much training you've had, your voice just won't be fully matured at this point. If it makes you more comfortable to find a fach to focus rep, you can probably be safe with lyric- you can still have a rich low/mid range :) just don't overdo it and blow yourself out!

  • It must be from the performance she gave with Mario del Monaco in Bolshoi in 1959. It was a triumph for both.
