i gusse the polite thing to say about them is that its target masters ( of sorts ) for the 2000,s i was kinda put off them for some reason cant really put my finbger on it good reveiw sir
@CobraCommanderTFW It is very simplistic but I enjoy the newer toys that are a bit easier. If the toy takes longer than a few minutes to transform, I am pretty un interested in it.
Hasbro is repainting this mold as a Protectobot... that makes a lot more sense. Everybody loves the idea of a Decepticon transforming into a fire truck thing, but he looks waaay to much like an Autobot to me.
maybe the color is for disguise so the autobots don't catch on as easy...and I agree with the blue blocks they should have made them a different color
Respond to this video... Great review once again. Agreed on the powder-puff blue combiner pieces. The head sculpt reminds me of a fire cheifs' helmet & mask.
Much agreed about the blue blocks, they are fairly unseemly and should have at least folded away better if they weren't going to paint them to fit the rest of the colors. From what I've read, the plastic they're made in makes them difficult to hold a custom coat of paint as well, not to mention the trouble of having any new paint hold if the intent is to still combine them with the drones, it'll just rub off. Not many options for us at home, sadly.
Think of him being a Decepticon as an especially good disguise :D It would make him a more effective villain to be able to blend in as such an unassuming vehicle. Maybe his cohorts have caused all sorts of chaos and destruction in some public place, people see this fire truck coming, they think things are going to be ok, but of course it's this guy and he only makes everything worse. I can get behind that.
I was iffy on this guy but recently saw an amazing gallery that totally sold me
I think the fire vehicle goes well with the "robots in disguise" theme. Suits him well!
great review as always! but I don't get why people complain about visible robot parts on the underside of a car. it wouldn't be visible unless you display him up-side down :p
I think that smolder being disguised as an autobot type vehicle is great really, thats the whole point of diguise, to be unnoticable. I can just see old Optimus looking down the horizon and seeing smolder racing towards the autobots, and thinking, look another autobot, reinforcements everyone! Then Smolder transforms into robot mode and starts chopping his way through the autobots ranks. I do hate the blue bits, really crummy idea, should be black instead. Other than that, not too bad.
I'll be honest I hate the powercores, the blue is just part of it for me, but a very large part of it. The other part is the non-transforming limbs, I just don't get what Hasbro was going for.
When I first saw this toy I really did think he was an Autobot, mainly because its hard to see a fire engine be a bad guy. But the toy itself looks really nice, Awesome review dude.
i think chopster makes smolder look like a fire fighter because smolder could use chopster to knock down doors

Brilliant review; the fact that they're Decepticons intrigues me. If anything, it's the first fire-related Decepticon to my knowledge.

Personally, I'm still sat on the fence with these powercore mofos.
Will have to wait and see what they're like in the hand. (I always think that sounds a tad rude.)

@paulbrown06 I do think they are going to be a toy that you either like or hate. I don't think there is going to be any inbetween with these guys.

But that said, I think the basic design otherwise is decent enough. I'll certainly pick him up when I see him.
