I was there that day. Unbelievable support from both sets of supporters. Hope Wednesday come back up soon, it's a great place to visit ! When I look at how so called fans of Premier league clubs like Blackburn turn on their teams just when they lose a few matches. Perhaps they should watch this and see proper supporters following their teams !
@tomlovesmanics what's scary is.... Paul Kay is my dads name and I just started using his account one day and he stopped using it so I guess I inherited it and he's a massive Wednesday fan.... Weeeiiirrrddd haha!
@rozzers3 Palace were overdue coming out of a relegation battle on the right side of the line after 92/93, 94/95 and 04/05 where they came out of it the wrong side
Best atmosphere at Hillsborough in a long time, 10x's better than when we played the blunts, the away support was epic, the home support from us was epic, epic game but I do believe the foul on Grant was a sending off and probably would have resulted in a different outcome especially if the silly tw@t Clarke hadn't gone off crying about his toe the idiot.
I remember watching this live on bbc. And at half time my mum came in the room with some bad news, we only had 1 can of beer, my dad had it. He poured it out, but didn't take a sip all of the second half. When the final whistle went, my dad necked the pint in about 2 seconds.
This game had a play-off atmosphere. The commentator said "One thing is guaranteed, this game will end in tears".
(if the Sears goal counted against Bristol this game wouldnt have been nearly so tense)
shit man i get goose bumps watching this and how bad decsions where cause that kick on grant shoulda bein a sending off and the goal was cause o conner was sent off, but leon clarkes goal was a foul.... all credit to palace this sent us down wich get us better players i think.... :)
@AoSBailey Meh. The kick on Grant was a yellow. I mean, sure it was a dangerous tackle, but there was no malice in it and he was just going on for a 50-50 ball. And Clarke's goal wasn't a foul (coming from a Palace fan), Butterfield just made a massive mistake :L
Truly heartbreaking, I think Andrews had to have gone then, he could have pulled out, O'Connor was off for the goal so we had a defender covering his position instead of Lee, robbed that day, but what ya gunna do hopefully bounce back next year, UTO!
@paulkay Sorry fella but can't agree. Andrew went for the ball, OK it was high but no intention. You're not seriously suggesting O'Connor would be marking Lee? And your first goal was highly questionable! Anyway, was a great day, hope you lot come back up next season, am at uni in Sheffield and Wednesday are by far the better club
@jmemour I mean O'Connor would have probably been covering someone on the edge of the area but sadly our defence was so shocking at the time, Beevers I believe was marking on the edge of the area and at the game I was like, jeez this isn't good we've conceded a corner we shouldn't have and now Beevers is cocking up his marking, then Purse decides to get shoved off the challenge with the slightest nudge looking for a freekick and 1-0, ah well, thanks for not been a dick about that comment haha =P
if o'conner had not of gone for the corner of maybe it could of been different??? who knows, but those last 5 minutes for Wednesday fans must of been hell.
@loftusupton1 You have to earn it on the Pitch. No Good saying we've got History, Big Stadium, Fanbase etc etc. Bolton and Fulham have earnt the right to be there in the last 10 years
@loftusupton1 Nobody has any "right" to Premier League football unless they win the games to get there and stay there. The likes of Leeds, Forest, Man City, the Sheffield Clubs and even my own Leicester should know that.
@loftusupton1 Nobody has any "right" to Premier League football unless they win the games to get there and stay there. The likes of Leeds, Forest, Man City, the Sheffield Clubs and even my own Leicester should know that.
palace had alot of luck on their side that day. expecialy with the first go we had 10 for it... =/ its expected that a small club needs luck though soo you know if united and crystal palace went down id be over the moon
@AoSBailey Yeah, small club mate. Now tell me how many times we've been in the third division in the last 30 years when comparing us to the ever so mighty Sheffield Wednesday?
Anyway, it was nothing to do with luck. We were the better side over the course of the season, we still had 10 points deducted and you couldn't get as many points as us, so shut your mouth, you fugggiiinnnnnn guuuuunt.
Hi, check out this football site. myfootiespace com u basically can organise all your football games etc. but like a football facebook i guess. if you football manager games to check out footy-manager com
With the off the field goings on relegation was probably a good thing looking back, we had to be pushed to the brink to get rid of the debt. The game was absolutely brilliant though, great ending too. Wednesday just weren't good enough
im a wednesday fan but i was there live and palace should have gone down when it as 2-2 we was all over them they did not cross the half way line 4 a bit we sould have won 3-2
There's always more passion in relegation fights than promotion fights, as daft as it may sound i would much rather have a relegation fight than a mid table finish, there fucking awesome !
Hey palace us Brighton boy are getting promotted this season or u will be religated so this year it's back to the good old days the Brighton bum bashers vs the scummy northern monkeys palace prepare for war
I'm glad we stayed up and it's a better result for football, because Crystal Palace would have gone out of the league if relegated.
Sheffield Wednesday can bounce back this season but I doubt we Crystal Palace would have survived and been in the football league now if we had been relegated.
@Aliowls4eva I agree you guys will be back as you are a big club with large support, you can get more youngsters from youth level and build a stronger squad.
I doubt us at Palace would have survived as a football club if we had been relegated.
I'm sure it would have been a more crushing blow and we might have been in the Rymans league this season :-(
So maybe a good thing all round, if you look at it in the longer term
relegation has done us a favour, had we stayed up i would have just been another struggle atleast now we have no debts and can move forwards while palace suffer relegation this time round!
correct.... wednesday wouldnt have been takenover if wed stayed up, we would be in even more of a mess so it hasdone us a favour, from here on the future is bright for the wednesday, palace on the other hand r goin down with the pigs while we stroll on getting better and better
@CrystalPalacefcvids then we win 4-1 what a game get in woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Went to the game I was shitting it at the end but we held on eaglesss thanks for the vid mate now I can re-live it all again now this season we get to beat the scumwall cunts red blue army
Brighty loved his time at Wednesday however if you've been in love it's never the same as the 1st time round, I've listened to it a few times and you're right he def sounded Pro Palace, which of course show he loves Palace more than Weds
But I do think he was genuine when he said he was sick afterwards.
I'm a Sheffield Wednesday fan that was a horrible match although we got what we deserved, if we'd have played like that all season we wouldn't have had to try and avoid relegation.

It was the best game of the 2009/2010 Championship season.
Passion, drama, excitment with a real cup final type atmosphere.
Sheffield Wednesday fans say it's the game they want to forget but never will.
Palace fans said it was a game they will never forget, will be written in their history forever.
Neutrals saw it as a great advert for the Championship, it too can be edge of your seat at certain times in a long hard season, of 46 games.
