To be fair to the Windies, decisions did go against them. But to react the way they did was atrociously poor. Kicking stumps out of the ground, barging the umpire over, their behaviour was a disgrace.

Aussie bowlers may get a bit hot headed at times, (Warne, McGrath, Big Merv) but they were never this bad - he should have been taken straight out of the attack and suspended.

I agree, although I think it is good for all fast-bowlers to get hot-headed at times, the 2 Victorian products Peter Siddle and James Pattinson show aggression and they were our 2 most successful bowlers in the most recent Sydney and Melbourne tests. Aggression in the form of sledging (reasonably and within the boundaries) and bouncers is good, but when it transfers to threatening umpires and having temper tantrums, it has gone too far. Holding should have been suspended, yes.

Amazing conduct. Disgraceful. Ironically, this is during the times of their wearing all whites which is different from this generation attiring themselves with the uniform colours which make them look as if soccer or rugby players. (And probably will make them feel and act as such).

I appreciate all forms of cricket as I just love the qualities of each game, however no match leaves me quite as fulfilled as after watching a Test match, especially a win. Truly the greatest form of cricket, and David Warner is evidence that T20 blasters can still aspire to be great Test players.

@nathanstorm7 David Warner has had a brilliant start to his Test career, no doubt about that, although against NZ he did take a single off the first ball of an over thereby exposing Nathan Lyon to the bowling which proved fatal. Great to watch the other day but I hope he can pull his head in when required. Still can't get excited about 20/20 stuff because it seems so unimportant compared to Test Cricket. They might as well just put bowling machines at the end of the pitch.

Yeah, Warner has been excellent although his mindset has been dangerous at times like that single you mentioned, as well as playing defensively to keep his wicket instead of playing his natural game when the score was 0/140+

I understand your attitude towards Twenty20, I still enjoy it but maybe it needs the revival that Test cricket has gotten lately, with some greentops? Although, too many people appreciate explosive batting over brilliant bowling.

Not so long ago they were ranked number one Test team in the world, now look at them, thrashed by England and 3 humiliating thrashings in Australia. Media and officials seem to be doing everything they can to wreck Test Cricket, ending play for poor light on grounds where lighting is so good you could carry out open heart surgery, strange scheduling of Tests, eg starting Sydney on 3rd instead of 2nd.

@nathanstorm7 As far as people having a preference for watching batsmen taking the long handle rather than brilliant bowling, I think they go in for the spectacular, when Tate was bowling at frightening pace the crowds loved it. I'm an old fart of 48 so I guess I'm set in my ways, your description of feeling more fulfilled by watching Test Cricket is a great description, I've often said comparing Tests with the shorter forms was like comparing a 3 course meal at a top rest with McDonalds.

@hirdy6 I've always preferred watching a batsman getting a working over then getting dismissed to an edge, rather than sheer pace. I'm only 16 and have preferred Test cricket my entire life, I do like the other forms but there is just nothing like a 5 day match of Test cricket. I liked your analogy, it's very true after watching Australia work over India and dismiss them for 191 in Sydney before making 4/659 and bowling them out for 400, rather than a crash and bash T20 that is over in 2 hours.

AND NZ is one of the least corrupt nations in the world as well- so I have no doubt that the umpires did NOT cheat- yes they got decisions wrong, (don't we all) but it was not deliberate- and NOT through racist cheating. You moron, they were anything but racist, if it was obvious it would have been given out, it was a line-ball decision and as in most cases the batsman got the benefit of the doubt. Anytime anything goes against anyone but a white person, it's 'racism', what if it was the other way round, and New Zealand were smashing the WI on their home turf, and a WI umpire gave a NZ player out? Is that racism? No, because the NZ player was white. Give me a break, racism has to work both ways.

Not good at all, but it is glorified indelibly now as a symbol of the region's socio-cultural history. Today, these guys might have been banned for reasonable lengths of time - whatever their justification.

Bad umpiring isn't an excuse to butt the umpire..imagine if the Indians had done something to the umpires at Sydney 2007-08...for excuses similar to those offered by these two and the 'folklore' that has been cultivated around these diciplinary incidents!

Much as I still hero-worship him as a fast bowler legend, hearing Holding droning on these days about the correct application of the laws of the game can jar a bit from time to time. He's never atoned for his many sins of gamesmanship and intimidation as a young man but still believes, now he's in his fifties,that he brings wisdom to the conduct of current cricketers.

Fair play to him, he's usually right nowadays - but I'd love him to hold up his own example as the epitome of the wrong one!

@robelinda2 Ponting is no cheat but he seems to a bit hypocrite.He tells the opposition players to take the words of his fielders.But if I am not mistaken on one instance against Sri Lanka he stood his ground and earned a reprieve when Jayawardene claimed his catch in one of the finals of the VB series 05-06.But he petulantly lectured again about this issue in the recent Ashes when the third umpire ruled in favour of the batsman.But one loves his commitment to his cricket.

@asisrout1988 I don't think Tendulkar tampered the ball .The match was mostly played in soggy conditions.So it was no point in trying for reverse swing by tampering the seam.You will want the seam to be in good health for conventional swing.The Referee Mike Deness was absoloutely biased.He suspended 5 Indian players for excess appealing and other inane reasons.I say WTF?Waqar and Shoaib were convicted of ball tampering as well.Sidhu and Prabhakar have have agreed doing it but never got caught.

@robelinda2 New Zealand and England seem to have the best quality footage for the 70s - the ABC footage appears to be slightly below par of those two until Channel 9 took over. Intriguing too, that NZ got colour TV one year before us!
