The character in the poem feels robbed by the land that absorbs his/her burdens without giving back, that is a yawning chasm for his/her passions, and fount for the dark places in his/her soul to spill forth from. I don't think that Monaghan is the nexus of the character's woe, but rather figure head for the dark fog that he/she's in.
This is honestly masterfully done. The sounds of your voice are wonderful. The images flow well and do not fight, or distract from, the reading. Keep it going, please.
