  • Love her! She can do no wrong in my book:) and that was definitely Alan Cumming, Cyndi Lauper, T.R. Knight, and B.D. Wong sitting behind her.

  • She needs to professionally record this NOW!!!!!!!!

  • WOW! But she is too old to play Fanny in Funny Girl!

  • It may seem we are alone at the times of our darkest storms, but know that there is always some by our sides to see us through.

Thanks Stephanie, the power in your voice echoes the power of love itself...God Bless you!

  • Wow....she sang the ass of that.........getting to love this woman!

  • she is one of the best belters i've ever heard

  • Ah-mazing. Such a talented woman. Good looking too.

  • She's brilliant, just brilliant. thats all there is to it!

  • Oh, she sings this effortlessly, shes amazing

  • i still can't stop listening to this :-)

is that T.R Knight (George from Grey's Anatomy) in the white / grey sweatshirt behind Steph?

  • i know i love her!

and yes...that does look like TR...

  • I'm sorry, but I did play Nettie in Carousel(character who sings this song in the musical), and this is a FANTASTIC version. But I'm going to have to agree with the few other people who think it should be sung traditionally.

  • WOW. Her voice was amazing. I think the Pirate Queen really strengthened her voice because she had to sing 20 songs every single show:) When she returned to WICKED she had a much more powerful voice, and it also shows in 9 to 5:)

  • This song is giving me goosebumps just listening to her sing it. It's simply lovely! Go see her as Judy Bernly in

9 to 5 in NY starting in April. She's SUPERB in this show and so is the entire cast for that matter. Hopefully they'll keep Stephanie's "Get Out & Stay Out" in Act II in this musical when they do some rewrites of the show in NY. She brings the house down everytime with this song!

  • Haha- I think maybe 4 or 5 people clapped when she walked on stage. She won them over by the end, though.

  • One of the best Rodgers and Hammerstein songs, and Steph has a great voice for it.

  • are you serious ?

i have never heard this song before and Stephanie puts her whole heart into it!! SHe could belt an F and she'd rock it!! Oh wait my bad SHE DOES!! LOL :)

to hear her in person I hear is AMAZING and you tube doesn't give her justice. which I know is true cause Ive heard people in person that on you tube sound funny so don't judge it simply enjoy it or don't... but you never know when Steph might come and read your comment so keep it nice

  • oh no doubt it's very nice. i'm not commenting on her ability in a negative fashion at all. it's more a comment on the song itself. listen to a more traditional rendition. it's an incredibly powerful song, and stephanie block does it justice; however, it's not how it was meant to be song. it's different, not worse or better.

trust me, i wasn't trying to be harsh or judgemental.

  • hearing her in person is so different from hearing her on videos on here. i saw her 4 times in wicked. it was amazing. if you think she has an amazing voice in these videos than you'll be blown away listening to her in person. just giving my opinion :)

  • i agree with u!

  • Actually it was written for a mezzo soprano although its kind of been taken over by sopranos this is indeed the original key although I'm sure the belting is out of the style but I kind of like it.

  • They didn't lower the key. Go back to your references. Just because the singer in the musical was operatic and had a high sounding pitch to her voice doesn't mean they changed the key for Stephanie. She sings in Wicked Defying Gravity and that is mostly high belt.

  • you know. Actually... Rodgers and Hammerstein wrote the music in this key. If you go to the vocal score or the movie the lady isn't a high singer but rather had the same range as Stephanie. Plus this preformance is for not the theatre but a modern day aids walk...so it has to reach people besides theatre goers. If you want to hear Stephanie sing more classical musical theatre look up South Pacific.

  • I had to sing this song at a concert for a group of people. And that was a long time ago and I still remember the lyrics.

  • btw, wasn't she already elphaba there!?

  • She was in Pirate Queen at that time of this performance.

  • is that T.R. Knight or Michael Arden behind her in the grey hoodie?

  • It's T.R. Knight. =]

  • Is this the same as the football song?

  • it's just an old song. it's used for the footbal, and also in her.

  • I love the movie Carosul, I saw the movie with my friend and it was brillant! SJB sings it so beautifully!! I love SJB!!

  • sjb rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • There was one guy behind her looking at her like, "WOW!". Look for him you will see him. He is sort of hidden. SJB is THE best!

  • He was calling her and she was already there (sort of). But Steph, Steph, there is no words to describe her. Well, wait there's WOW!

  • She is pure brilliance.

  • I would agree with that if she over did it. She didn't, in my opinion, so I'm fine with her liberties. She's just adding her own flavor to it while maintaining the origional integrity and beauty of the song.

  • rogers and hammerstein are amazing. and their original intent of this song is wonderful. I dont think she over did it with her liberties at all. She didnt turn it into a pop song. She just sang it with passion and made it slightly more her own. nothing wrong with that. if she over did it, i would agree.

  • when im down i watch this video. thank you for posting =] x

  • Could she be any more incredible. I mean really she is sooo amazing.

  • my god...that just takes your breath away. amazing.

  • OMGosh, that is soooooo T.R. Knight, from Grey's Anatomy, in the cream colored shirt by her hips at 2:14!!!

  • flawless

  • I love her.

  • Wow sucha different tone that i've never heard from her before!! I love it!!

  • wowie wonderful :O

  • I adore her. SO AMAZING!!!!

  • WoW...I'm speechless. Simply amazing...AMAZING.

  • This song makes me wanna fight a war when she sings it, one day broadway will rule the world and at the forefront'll be the block, and cheno in her bubble ' Be safe and god bless ya.'

  • It sounds like SAIL TO THE STARS from the Pirate Queen. I love her!!
