  • Way cool. Double extra cool, in fact. But my Spitfire with 3.1 Chevy V-6 can beat your Spitfire up the side of a boulder strewn mountainside! Its 4 wheel drive with 33 inch tall off road tires! And I would bet that you don't have an onboard welder or an engine driven air compressor for your air tools either! How about an 8000lb capacity winch? We should swap cars for a week.....

  • Amazing! This obviously isnt on a standard 4:1:1 triumph axle is it? Cause the standard 1300 engine blows them up! lol. :)

  • @triumph1974 yeah because it was shelby's idea to put a V8 in a light car

  • Hey with those new rules in the UK, is it true you can't build cars like this anymore? i think I read that the engines *must* have matching numbers with the car nowadays, or if it's replaced, it needs to be model-correct?

  • @71TR6Guy nope , if you replace to much of the car you have to re register it on a Q plate or something

  • Well, I just acquired a race prepped 63 Spit, but I doubt it would hold a candle against this beast. Nice stuff!

  • I had a mkIII 1300 back in the 80s and it was one of my favourite cars to this day. Yours looks stunning .

  • I checked out your website pictures. Unlucky about the fire. How did it happen?

Also how much money have you spent on this?

  • @ollyb360

Caught fire on the M25 Motorway in a traffic jam - think one of the ignition leads was touching the header - my own fault for not fireproofing it! It's now got heat reistant over everytrhing that might get hot and with plumbed in fire extinguisher.

It's been an ongoing project for about 15 years - never totaled it up but think it must be close to £40K over the years - including bebuilding it again after the fire!

  • @jimboturbo350

A labor of love. Not a bad habit at all.

  • Very nice. It looks like my Spitfire that I restored. Sadly my 1500 went pop. Well done on doing something special.

  • just looked at the web page and that is one awesome build ...but was totally shocked when i seen the fire damage ,glad to see it repaired ,you must have been totally gutted

  • is there a ton of fabricating to do this swap?

  • Just a bit!! Have a look at the website

  • @jimboturbo350 will do :) looks awesome by the way. i always like seeing v8 swaps into small cars.

  • why you british guys call it a rolling road its called a dyno here in the u.s.

  • @mikewashere01 because all Americans have a wish to slowly destroy the English language by replacing it with stupid alternative words and spellings

  • @sirjoseph7 you mean like blag, and bruv, blimey, bollocks, cheeky etc? come on, we both make up words. and dyno is short for dynameter, which kinda makes sense too doesn't it?

  • Why oh Why? Put it in a car thats made to take that power surely!

  • my dad's V8 spitfire would kick it's ass

  • @Eggdude16 Really!? I doubt it - but if it can - good for him!!

  • How is the car coming?
