But i beg to differ with his view on the invasion of Iraq by the US. There is a certain amount of ambiguity about the American intention to invade Iraq.

Perhaps Rose's approach to interviewing is wrong and poor(as would mine be), but I suspect that he agrees with much of what Yew says and sees his advice to the US as the East and China rises, and it faces a quagmire of its own making in Iraq, as very valuable.

What seems to be offensive (the interruptions and gestures), strike me as actually meant to draw attention to Yew's key points.

LKY's answers to your questions is that when China and India go in full gears economically in the next 30 to 50 years, not only Singapore will benefits but the entire SEA which I takes to mean ASEAN. As we are centrally located and is likely to be the gateways for other ctries to connect with the rest of the world.
It is not abt India and China going out on their own, but the west getting into Asia. Singapore's logistics and diplomatic advantages will help to pave the way for the Europeans and Americans into Asia. It is not so much about the size of your nation but the mobility and talents of your people in this age and time.

And he's annoying- I want to hear the end of one of LKY's trains of thought but Rose cuts him off and is off on another, sometimes almost completely unrelated, tangent. Nonsense. Singapore's anti-terror "infrastructure" is no where as advanced as the Americans (and the Americans are already incompetent in many ways). If Rose were talking to an American, he would not have come across as pushy, it would just be par for the course.
Asians tend to be more reserved as can be seen in body language, which is why the contrast with Rose's own body language becomes more evident.

LKY's answers to your questions is that when China and India go in full gears economically in the next 30 to 50 years, not only Singapore will benefits but the entire SEA which I takes to mean ASEAN. As we are centrally located and is likely to be the gateways for other ctries to connect with the rest of the world.

It is not abt India and China going out on their own, but the west getting into Asia. Singapore's logistics and diplomatic advantages will help to pave the way for the Europeans and Americans into Asia. It is not so much about the size of your nation but the mobility and talents of your people in this age and time.

OMG. Rose's questions and train of thought are so... random. And he's annoying- I want to hear the end of one of LKY's trains of thought but Rose cuts him off and is off on another, sometimes almost completely unrelated, tangent. I don't think he's a very skilled interviewer at all, unless this has been edited very subtly and I can't see the cuts. I find Rose a bit patronizing at times, too.

Nonsense. Singapore's anti-terror "infrastructure" is no where as advanced as the Americans (and the Americans are already incompetent in many ways). The only reason Singapore has successfully kept a lid on terrorism THUS FAR (as have the Americans) is because the jihadists are even more incompetent than the Americans and Singapore - and because most are dying in Iraq.

No planning is comprehensive you buffoon. Read what I said: the only reason we haven't been hit is that we are marginally less incompetent than the terrorists. I should know: my unit was one of the first activated to the various KINs when 9/11 happened and EVEN THEN in the immediate aftermath there was suspicious surveillance of KINs which went unreported until we stepped in. So I know, from personal experience, that there will always be holes in the countersurveillance net.
