Hollywood is in a desert with a lot of sunny days. That's why they got off the train and built the film industry there. Before they had electricity daytime and nighttime were a lot more important passages in peoples lives than today. People could work during the day and the night was a more dangerous time with wolves and bears still around outside the farmhouse. Not part of any secret society but just the way it was before they had the light bulb.
