@ljonesvc dude go to youtube and check out a video by iraqveteran8888 he shows you how to clean the bolt and receiver up where it slides like glass. it takes a drill and a bore brush. did it to my m44 and the bolt will slide up and down just by tilting the rifle.

@Dale767 $80 for a 91/30 infantry if you find 'em on a good day at the gun show. Some of the rarer ones can go north of $10,000 but for a first gun, I'd recommend sticking with a 91/30 infantry (the '44 is a shoulder buster). Maybe a nice Finnish M39 if you don't mind spending $250-$300 for what is essentially one of the most accurate Mosins in the world. Or a nice 28-30 for around $400-$450 if you want a sub 1 MOA rifle without shelling out the cash for an original sniper.

@Dale767 Love the ex-dragoons. They're such a neat subset of the rifles (you never know what kind of recycled parts you're going to find on there. Then again, all the rifles have recycled parts on 'em at times, which is what makes them so fun to collect. Hell my '44 Tula sniper has a '43 receiver and scope on it).

Also, yes, that's a '44 because of the side folding bayonet. Only the M44 variants (including all nations) and the St. Petersburg Cavalry Carbine had side folding bayonets.

As a female shooter, I recognize that we tend to lean back to counter balance the weight of the rifle. When their heavy in the front, it's difficult for a regular sized women to hold on target. I agree that a table would be much more comfortable for a woman trying to wield that rifle, but even then, it can be painful to absorb the recoil in the shoulder from a sitting position. I prefer a mono-pod so that I can sort of rock back on recoil.
