That's not actually true Prior to the modern era the entire Balkans mixed at various points. The lines between identities were much more blurred and more based on religion (which is why Avrites identify as greeks) . If you did a DNA test on yourself you would likely discover traces of ancient Greek DNA in you.

That's not actually true Prior to the modern era the entire Balkans mixed at various points. The lines between identities were much more blurred and more based on religion (which is why Avrites identify as greeks) . If you did a DNA test on yourself you would likely discover traces of ancient Greek DNA in you.
I don't subscribe to the DNA = identity model. Cultural choices is really what define identity in any meaningful sense.

If you read Isocrates views on identity he makes the most accurate claim. Identity is not about race. Its about culture.
If you doubt what I say, you are welcome to do a DNA test on yourself to validate you do not belong to some distinct Albanian race. Such claims are myths by nationalists much like religion. If you had Turkish parents who gave you up for adoption.... never told who your real parents were...... brought up in Albania...... to a loving albanian family... with albanian language...to albanian culture and music. You make a common mistake of confusing modern nomenclaure with anceint. FYROM is not actually in the original Macedonia. Its in a region called paeonia and dardinia in antiqutity.
IN adition... avrites speak Greek and dientity with Greek culture (e.g they get educated in ancient Greekk history, ancient greek philosophy, etc..) he same is not true of the forerm self-identifying ethnic Bulgarians. All they essentially do is substritute word "Bulgarian" with "macedonian"

You are framing word. They did not consider themselves "turks" just because they lived in Turkey. The Rum milllet was not Turkish.
If anything one could point out the Turksih inlfuences are much stronger in Albania (e.g. much of your country is Muslim and you were even longer under Turksih rule)

See now your are changing your own rules. First you claim its only a language but now try to insituation a language alone is ethnicity. Turkish-speaking doesn't equate to a Turk. The offical language of the Ottoman empire was Turkish so all the various groups spoke some Turkish.(including Albanians) There are people that live in the US today of Albanian family origin that speak english and can't speak/read/write a word of Albanian.
