nakupenda is Swahili for I love you; Brenda mixed some swahili in this song; songea nikubambe, songea nikubusu; come closer so that i can hold you, come closer so that i can kiss you................................. lovely song
Africano eh pamba, americano eh pamba..kuya kuya nikubambe, kuya kuya nikubusu..songea nikupambe..nakupenda Africa...I think it's inspired by Brenda's Nakupenda n I've been looking for it everywhere!
"Nakupenda, nikubusu, songea nikubambe, songea nikubusu" is Swahili language spoken by most East African Countries, and some parts of Congo, so as you can see, she represented the whole Africa as a continent.
I have played this a thousand times already; I'm still playing it. The folksy way it is composed will make is song still fresh a hundred years from now. By far my favorite.

Maybe we should just say she is singing in a BANTU language, she mixes them up to create her own message, which is what we should really be focusing on.
I am South African, half Khosa and half Zulu, mara I went to school in Zim for a bit, and now I live in CAnada and have been for over 25yrs that's more than 2 thirds of my life but I am forever AFRICAN!!!

I am so blessed to have Miss Brenda Fassie's music in my life....Though I am not Afircan I wish to say her music makes me feel alive....I feel all that is real within my heart and my soul dances and smiles with love and light when I hear her music.....Love and blessings to Miss Brenda- JOurney on to the better life and do it with freedom and LONG LIVE MISS AFRICA!!!!! {{smiles}} Love to all of you!!!!

wow, i keep listening to this and every time i hear it , it kind of lights up my life:-) i didn't know of Brenda Fassie, and i didn't know she'd died either.. god bless her wherever she is !! she most definately is a STAR :-) xx
Brenda is great, ive been once in South Africa and when I heard first time this music on some disco, I had to buy this CD from DJ :) I like it from this time even after years.
apart from the unquestionable talent brenda had (she still sends shivers down my spine), i think she was a kind of consolation to all of us.Her beautifull voice, her charisma + character combined with her lyrics....well,she still makes my eyes watery....now even more cause it reminds me she is no more!u still give me hopes brenda, console my heart n give me will to move on...n not just to servive...but to live!love u always! *i realise that brenda mightve played diff roles in ppl's lives...peace!!
Hey Kipuli, where im from (Tanzania) we say sogea not songea which is probably why msamiG interpreted that way...she might be from TZ too. When i went Kenya they said songea though...over here songea is a name of a town :-) love Brenda Fassie!
The Core of African culture is all the same. I have travelled to 17 different countries on this Great Continent of Ours and many others around the world, and i know that certain things are paramount. The respect of elders, Mothers, grandparents, the open minds and beautiful smiles. Considering that 2000 or so hominids from the Rift valley in Eastern africa repopulated the World after the Eruption of the Toba Volcano that obliterated almost all life on the planet.
umm ill say this we are all africans true but us southern africans are different from the west africans and those in the east zimbabwe , southafrica botswana , namibia has some common languages and cultures intonations so on we are definately not like the west africans in any way im sorry but its true we are not at all like the northern africans but we are all africans
thats your opinion but i'll just like to point out that i'm nigerian, i have ghanaian, sierra-leonean and cameroonian friends and even tho we all have our different cultures, we have pretty much the same intonation and theres a common adulterated form of english that we all happen to speak....so does that mean we are not like u?the key word here i think is we are all from the same continent.....obviously there has to be some difference from coast to coast....
chimbeva, i disagree with u, i believe west and southern africans behave alike. im from nigeria, true son of the ibo tribe, i grew in south africa, worked in the mines in different provinces in south africa, speak zulu and africaans fluently, and never associated with my fellow nigerians because of their illegal activities in south africa, i love south africa and take it as my second home. brenda was my idol and will always remain...we are all one....greetings from new zealand
i agree i'm from one of the smallest countries in africa (uganda)- i think we should begin looking at africa as a united country and not different states!
As a Half-Zimbabwen , & Half - South African Person. iMade this video because it gives me memorys of thoes countrys , neverthe less i do apolgize for those who feel iHavent , regarded other countrys as i should. But rember not matter what country , we are all proud africans , raised in the mamma land , listening to music all over the world , trying to grap a piece of the land we truly miss. Thankyou
best of africans

Hey Kipuli, where im from (Tanzania) we say sogea not songea which is probably why msamiG interpreted that way...she might be from TZ too. When i went Kenya they said songea though...over here songea is a name of a town :-) love Brenda Fassie!

The Core of African culture is all the same. I have travelled to 17 different countries on this Great Continent of Ours and many others around the world, and i know that certain things are paramount. The respect of elders, Mothers, grandparents, the open minds and beautiful smiles. Considering that 2000 or so hominids from the Rift valley in Eastern africa repopulated the World after the Eruption of the Toba Volcano that obliterated almost all life on the planet.

umm ill say this we are all africans true but us southern africans are different from the west africans and those in the east zimbabwe , southafrica botswana , namibia has some common languages and cultures intonations so on we are definately not like the west africans in any way im sorry but its true we are not at all like the northern africans but we are all africans
chimbeva 2 years ago
thats your opinion but i'll just like to point out that i'm nigerian, i have ghanaian, sierra-leonean and cameroonian friends and even tho we all have our different cultures, we have pretty much the same intonation and theres a common adulterated form of english that we all happen to speak....so does that mean we are not like u?the key word here i think is we are all from the same continent.....obviously there has to be some difference from coast to coast....
toughkittyy 2 years ago 5
chimbeva, i disagree with u, i believe west and southern africans behave alike. im from nigeria, true son of the ibo tribe, i grew in south africa, worked in the mines in different provinces in south africa, speak zulu and africaans fluently, and never associated with my fellow nigerians because of their illegal activities in south africa, i love south africa and take it as my second home. brenda was my idol and will always remain...we are all one....greetings from new zealand

i agree i'm from one of the smallest countries in africa (uganda)- i think we should begin looking at africa as a united country and not different states!
