my brother has an old cummins like this and one of our friends was gonna get some new rims for his truck (2001) and it has the exact same rims as what you have on this truck.....i was wondering if i could put the front ones on with the manual locking hub on there or would that look tacky /shitty?? or do i have to get auto locking hubs to put those rims on his truck??
At the time of this dyno, the injection pump was not in great shape.
If you watch closly you can see the truck making lots of smoke then starting to clear up and then smoking a lot again; a result of the wastegate set too weak.
I am happy to report it spools quicker, makes less smoke and has more power now.

@unibuga You kids are so fuckin dumb. How does unburnt fuel come out in a burnt state, hence the word SOOT or BURNT FUEL. That black smoke means the engine is reaching peak torque, and at peak torque, the most exhaust is exhausted, but only so much can fit down the pipe, so thats why it comes out black smoke because it's highly concentrated. Thats also why you get that deep throaty sound when the black smoke gets the thickest coming out the exhaust, it's reaching peak torque.
@CowsXonXcrack that sounded retarted you dont know what your talkin bout....what im sayin is if he had more air mixing with all that extra fuel there would be a hell of alot more power....my friends dodge was smokin about like that makin bout 750 horse we bought an intercooler to get colder denser AIR.....and what do you know hes pushin close to 850 -900 with half the smoke.......so yes the soot is directly related to excess fuel

ohh sorry lol i did mean lean lol of course all deisels blow black smoke if they are tuned correctly but my point was that all these deisels wer dependable and lasted up to 500,000 miles as mine did and they wer able to be put to maximum conditions without showing stress as my new rams does when i haul heavy loads
its the tourque that counts and alos what is applied the most these deisel engines made torque similar to my 1989 international cab and chassis with an inline 6 deisel

I needed 2" wheel spacers to use these rims.

472 hp at 2400 rpm and 1080 ft lbs torque at 2100 rpm.
Truck was run in 4th gear to 85 mph.
There was a lot of smoke because the wastegate was set too weak at 37 psi. It is now set at 43 psi and makes less smoke...........and more power.
