Because that's the purpose of the song. The entire album is not in its place. Listen to, "Yesterday I woke up sucking on a lemon". Thom said that line described how he felt during the recording of Kid A. Because when someone sucks on a lemon, they have a sour face. Radiohead had A LOT of pressure to continue on from the Bends and OK Computer. Thom just said, "I can (we can) easily make another OK Computer, but that's just no fun. Making the same music is no fun"

I think this song is about how absolute we are sometimes in our lives.We see things in two colours (black and white) when in reality everything is shades of grey. We convice ourselves everything is in right place and we dont improve on by destroying some parts of our personalities to mould them back again,because it's too hard.Yet,when we go to bed at night we realise that we spent the day doing nothing and not becoming the best version of ourselves so we wake up with a sour look on our faces.
